Summary; the Knight of Ratatosk gives Setsuna a lesson incatching Pokemon making friends with monsters.♥
Log;
Shifting his weight a bit, Emil eyed the wide and dense expanse of shrubbery and trees before him with some apprehension. He'd gotten lost in Xanadu too, what's to stop him from getting lost here? All-in-all, he was beginning to, well, regret his promise to Setsuna... just a bit. Maybe he'd been selfish? After all, it wasn't like he was the one who usually did the fighting and pact-maki-- well, it used to be him but lately, whenever he went into Ratatosk mode, it was like sinking into a depth of nothingness. It was like he really was becoming another person.
He sighed dejectedly, for a moment as he completely forgot about his companion. When he did realize that he wasn't quite alone, however, he mentally berated himself and turned to give Setsuna a reassuring smile. Even if, honestly, that smile was more to reassure himself than the other person...
"U-um, so I guess we look for a monster..." he said finally, "But, well... there's something I probably should tell you about."
He paused for a moment and then continued, scratching his head a bit in a way to alleviate his anxiety. "I kind of... well, I sort of become different when I fight so... don't be surprised, okay?"

He paused for a moment and then continued, scratching his head a bit in a way to alleviate his anxiety. "I kind of... well, I sort of become different when I fight so... don't be surprised, okay?"

And if not, then at least he assured himself of Emil's safety by being present. He was not going to allow a child to attempt such a stunt on his own.
He glanced down at Emil. "Different?"

"Different," Emil clarified in a deeper, more confident tone. He sneered - it was just like his normal self to indulge other people's curiosity like this - and then unsheathed the sword he kept strapped to his back. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood to do some useless fighting. Itching, actually. This damn place," he paused and sniffed in a display of disgust for the City. It was too many damn things already; it was keeping him from killing that bastard Richter already, keeping him from protecting Marta, keeping him-- it made his anger boil. Dilly-dallying wasn't something he wanted to do. "Hn-- a pact. Might as well do my job before heading back-- you watch closely if you want, but I'm not gonna do an extra job of protecting you." The Ratatosk Mode Emil emphasized this by pointing his blade briefly at Setsuna, and then sauntering off in search of a monster to exercise his job as a Knight of Ratatosk with.

But then Emil started charging towards the forest, and so he quickly drew out his gun from behind him, almost as a reflex, and chased after the child.
"H-Hold on!" His brows furrowed and he grit his teeth as he ran.

Emil came to an abrupt halt when he caught a movement at the edge of his eye. There, he thought with some predatory glee, and launched himself at its direction. It was a monster, all right; dark and partially submerged in a foggy haze. He'd never seen a monster like that before, but who cared? At least, from the looks of it, it was darkness elemental. Tenebrae's would-be minion. At first, it was Tenebrae who did all the pact-making and chose the right elemental spells to make the pact work, but while his other self never picked up on this aspect of the pact-making, he certainly did. It was the only reason they were able to continue gathering monsters when Tenebrae was forced back into his core form.
And then he attacked.

"Be careful!" he cried out as he fired twice.

Emil looked down at it with indifference then, making a quick mental note of which pact spell to use. He obviously didn't have any monsters to help him here, and it was like beginning all over again. Would it work, he wondered? Hmph. He might as well just give it a shot.

And then he blinked. Purple clouds? An after-effect of the attack, perhaps? He wasn't sure, but Emil seemed capable enough of handling the monster; regardless, he must not hold down his guard. His gun remained drawn in case of any sudden attack.

The pact itself took a mere few minutes, and while the monster resisted - as they usually did - it was clear just who was the boss. Him, of course.
It didn't take long before the monster was lapping at his hand like an obedient dog. Despite the comparison though, Emil held no discrimination towards the monster like a normal human would have. Sometimes... humans were worse than monsters.

He despised it.
"That is how you create non-hostile monsters?" He tried to keep his voice steady, but one could easily have caught a hint of rage.

The words escaped his mouth almost instantly, as his brow furrowed and his hand gripped the gun more tightly. Resorting to violence to maintain control, harming others to keep authority over them, especially those who don't even start fights... This wasn't right.
"If this is how you befriend monsters, then I will not stand for it."
