Rating; PG (I'm going to say possibly PG-13 because there MAY be swearing...just trying to be polite)
Characters; Scotty ([livejournal.com profile] allshesgotsir ) and Maeve ([livejournal.com profile] ladyofwinter )
Summary; Maeve and Scotty have lunch to trade stories
Log;

Scotty wasn't usually one to suggest lunch to a woman. He was much more comfortable either in his own lab at City Solutions or putting the final touches on the shuttlecraft before its shakedown run on Monday, but Maeve seemed like a nice enough girl. It was an added bonus that she was so interested in his work. It was really all the material he had for conversation.

His clothing selection was still rather limited, not for lack of funding, but lack of care.  He'd much rather tinker than go shopping. Why did he care about his appearance anyway?  It wasn't as though he was taking the girl out on a date or anything. He was just...taking out a very attractive-sounding girl to lunch to trade stories.  So, he chose his uniform.  Women respected a man in uniform, didn't they?  He straightened his sleeves and made sure the delta on his breast was straight. It wouldn't do to make a bad first impression.

The blip on his tricorder told him he'd reached his destination, and he looked up, the sign above the establishment offering visual confirmation. He entered.

Maeve had gotten there early. Her green eyes wandered about now as she hid away from the heat outside. It was intolerable. She hated it. But this was the summer season. She would grow in power again when it faded.

Playing with one of her dreadlocks, she waited for him to show up. She had a feeling that she would know who he was when she saw him. Really, she didn't care much about him. However, he sounded useful. And easily swayed by someone attractive flirting with him. That was perfect.

Her clothes were her normal style. They showed off her body nicely. Leather pants that laced up the sides with matching high-heeled boots and a white t-shirt that was very tight on her thin figure, cut off to show off her stomach.

When he walked in, her cat-like eyes fell on him. Her lips curled into a smile as Maeve walked over to him. "Scotty, yes?"

Her instincts favored her again. Scotty seemed inexperienced with the female race. She liked that about him already and allowed him to admire her without complaint. Maeve's smile never wavered.

"I am. Is it so nice to see you."

It was. She liked useful people.

"Mm. Do you like them?"

Oh, he was making this so easy. Toying with men was a favorite pass time but this was especially entertaining.

Her lips curled further into a smile. How cute.

"Yes. We should." Someone came over to help them and she led the way. She added extra sway to her hips as she walked.

"Mm. I did say I wasn't."

She remembered that little detail. There were many things she'd left out but many things she'd implied too. She knew how to lead people to believe what she wished them to.

Maeve blinked innocently. She wasn't hiding that she wasn't human. After all, she hadn't hid her eyes. "One of the Sidhe. People usually refer to us as faerie."

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
"I am."

The surprise was amusing.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
"No need for that. Some of the faerie are very small. I just happen to not be one of them." She smiled at him with amusement.

"I'm more powerful than the little ones." She took her drink when it arrived. A simple lemonade.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Your question refers to what? I am more powerful." She looked at him with curiosity.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"The little ones haven't my power. Most cannot touch magic."

Instead of answering, she took a sip of her drink. She didn't take any ice into her mouth but she started chewing ice. She liked freezing her drinks when they hit her tongue.

Brilliant? Scotty was kind of adorable in some ways. Reaching across the table, she froze the top of his drink. He could break it easily.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Smiling, Maeve crunched more of her drink. "For those who cannot do this, it is perhaps."

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. Humans are capable of so much." She tapped her chin thoughtfully. "I've seen it."

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I've seen many things. Weren't you going to tell me a story?" She leaned forward with a little pout on her lips.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"It is your story to tell. I cannot tell you where to begin." Her eyes watched him with great interest.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-08 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Much of the story was rather dull actually. However, she knew how to act like she cared. It was how she'd so often ensnared others. They always believed her act too. Besides, he sounded like he could be very useful.

"That sounds fascinating."

She didn't tell him what sounded fascinating though.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She looked at him with innocence that made her look much younger than she was.

"The transporter parts."

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can see the way the subject makes your eyes light up."

She smiled slowly at him.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It depended on the faerie really. Someone were beyond useless and did nothing worth mentioning.

"I like parties."

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"The kind with live music, food, drink, laughter, dancing. Sometimes, they even have themes." His interest was cute.

[identity profile] ladyofwinter.livejournal.com 2009-06-09 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends upon the sidhe. Some just don't know how to have fun." She ran her finger along the rim of her glass sending spiderweb-like traces of ice down the edge of it. "Some are boring."
