Log; Ongoing

When; Wednesday, June 17th. Late afternoon.
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Sam Witwicky [livejournal.com profile] not_so_smooth and Mikaela Banes [livejournal.com profile] justpopthehood.
Summary; Sam and Mikaela have a picnic at the beach.
Log; Sam had been looking forward to this for a long time. Not that he didn't enjoy just his regular days with Mikaela, but they hadn't been on a real date date for a while. Plus, they had talked about a lot of stuff lately and it would be good to just... enjoy each others' company. Plus it was the beach and Sam was hoping Mikaela might wear a swimsuit.

"Alright, this is it," Sam said, stopping the Vespa and pointing to a spot on the beach up ahead. It had taken him a while to find just the right spot, secluded but facing west so that they could watch the sunset. "And no one should show up and bother us. I hope."

She isn't really worried about anyone showing up and shrugs the thought off as soon as it's brought up. There's little wind today and the sun is out, beating down in it's usual unforgiving way and it's just hot enough. The back of her neck is sticky with sweat and it slowly trickles down her spine. Trickles past the knot that's tied there because yes, she's wearing a bathing suit.

This reminds her of afternoons by the lake back home, before she knew Sam. When things were simple and things like her father's parole hearing were far off both in time and in mind. She hates this month, when Father's Day is fast approaching and the chatter's already started. There's a nagging feeling that her days here are limited, that she'll have to face all of this and more when she gets back home.

For now, though, she's shifted her attention the distant roar of the tide and the soft crunch of the sand beneath their feet. "It's nice here."

She gives a sly grin at that, the kind that suggests she's teasing him on the inside for being such a girl. Light, playful. In reality, it's just something she isn't used to. The guys she's used to dating aren't exactly known for their finely tuned and deep emotions or their sensitivity. It's different, but then, so much with Sam is.

Mikaela eyes the picnic basket, wondering if he actually cooked. She can picture him in the kitchen, covered in flour and trying to follow the exact order of a Rachel Ray cooking show while the stove catches fire behind him.

"And here I thought you picked it because you wanted to go swimming."
