log; ongoing; closed
When; September 4
Rating; PG
Characters; Yuri Lowell [
notflynn] and Leon Magnus [
roseofseingald]
Summary; After a not-so-successful battle with Ratatosk, Yuri is determined to get even stronger. Leon and Repede are dragged in for the ride.
Log; Yuri groaned as he leaned back against the sofa, mostly out of frustration. The ache in his joints and muscles had mostly faded the day before. Thankfully, Estelle and Leon had his back the entire time- who knew what would have happened without them. Emil's "other personality" was certainly tough. Summon Spirits... were they at all the same as the spirits back home? He'd have to ask more about them. All he knew... was that they were damn powerful. Even more so than Duke, and that was saying something.
But the problem at hand was that he couldn't win. He couldn't protect the people he promised to protect, and that bothered him. If something like that were to happen again, who knew what
chaos could erupt? That didn't sit well with Yuri. He'd have to get stronger.
A simple spar just wasn't enough. He had to actually fight. Seriously. No fun and games- monsters were his best bet, and he'd heard about the monsters in the Underground. They were powerful but not unbeatable.
Mind made up, Yuri stood, stretching and rotating limbs. If he was going to push himself, he might as well make sure he wasn't going to pull anything. That would hurt a lot.
He picked up his sword by the hanging string. Man, he kind of missed Dein Nomos, though he certainly didn't mind his current powerful weapon. Repede also stood from his corner and moved toward Yuri, growing and nudging his hand.
"Don't worry, Repede," he said somewhat softly. "I'm not gonna leave you behind."

"Planning to get yourself roughed up again?" Leon inquired, brow arched as he waited for an answer. He pushed away from the door frame, walking briskly toward the entrance to the apartment. He pointedly stood in front of the door, one hand resting on Chaltier's hilt.
no subject
"Move, Leon," he demanded quietly. "There's something I have to do. Don't worry about me. I'm not going to get myself almost killed like last time."
no subject
"It's inconvenient if you get hurt by yourself!" he snapped. "What the hell kind of shape would you be in right now if Estelle and I hadn't followed you? And now you want to leave again to do something undoubtedly reckless? Even I didn't think you were that much of an idiot."
no subject
He turned his gaze back toward Leon, as if proving to the other just how determined and set he was in his decision.
no subject
"Tch- you're such a damn hypocrite. What happened to all that gallant bull you spewed about trusting each other? When it comes right down to it, you didn't even think of asking anyone for help against an enemy you clearly needed help to fight! How do you expect comrades to trust you when you run off into battle without any heed for your own life?"
no subject
He noticed that Leon still held his ground, a little bit of a problem is Yuri was going to walk out that door.
"I'm going to thank you for watching my back, Leon," he replied tersely, "and that's it."
no subject
Leon still wasn't moving. And if Yuri tried to get through? Well, Leon wouldn't mind paying for damages done to the apartment.
"How do you expect me to let you watch my back if you won't ask me to watch yours? It's not the one-way street you seem to think it is, Yuri."
no subject
"I want you to trust me, Leon," he said a bit more loudly, more purposefully. He wasn't used to saying this sort of thing, though every word was genuine. Instead, he was more familiar with the unspoken trust he had with Flynn. "Because I trust you."
A pause and a sigh. He put his hand on the tip of the blade, as if going to move it away but not yet doing so. "You don't have to ask me to look out for you, Leon. I always am."
no subject
"I don't need you to look after me you think it's better not to let anyone look out for you," he added, turning away from Yuri. A moment of rustling as he unlocked the door and opened it. He barely glanced back at Yuri and Repede.
"Move it. I'm going to prove my worth to you since you don't seem to understand it."
no subject
"Thanks, Leon." Repede gave a bark, as if expressing his impatience, and walked out ahead of them. "Let's go kick some ass, now, shall we?"
no subject
He glanced towards Chal when he heard a light chuckle from him. An arched brow at the Swordian.
Young Master, you were so angry back there~
"Tch," Leon mumbled, arms crossed over his chest. Damn it, wasn't the speech he'd just given Yuri the same one Stahn had given him at the end? The thought frustrated him, but not nearly as much as Yuri frustrated him. It was a mistake like that that had resulted in Leon's death. To not rely on the people you know would have your back if you only asked - why doesn't Yuri see the fault there? It really pissed him off.

Repede barked once as he descended first into the Underground, already drawing his weapon, one of the Fell Arms they'd collected.
no subject
Leon stared silently over at Repede and the weapon held in his jaws. He couldn't say that he was expecting the dog to actually use a weapon like that, but why else would he have it if he couldn't use it? Whatever, it didn't matter. As long as Repede didn't get in his way.
The Knight Captain unsheathed Chaltier for the second time that day, letting his sword rest at his side. Chal was humming in excitement at the idea of an enemy encounter. The City didn't allow for him to be wielded as often as he was on Erther, but as a weapon he really did enjoy the fight. He wanted to be used more often.
no subject
There was some scurrying, and Repede barked twice. "Then get ready to believe it, Leon!"
no subject
His eyes darted from Yuri to Repede to see how they would join the fray. After all, they'd never really fought alongside each other. He wasn't sure how they would work until they started to attack.
no subject
With that, he let out an Azure Edge, causing a monster to stumble.
no subject
Leon followed up on Yuri's stumbling enemy with a Flying Dragon, knocking it into the air with him before he jumped back, already turning his sights to another enemy as a glyph appeared beneath his feet.
"Grave!" Moments later a stalagmite of rock slammed up from the ground beneath his new target, juggling it.
no subject
After completing his combo and knocking down that single enemy, he backstepped a little, laughing.
"Now this is more like it!"
no subject
Oops. That monster was a little too close. Not quite enough time to backstep completely out of the way of the claws swinging toward him. He braced himself for the impact, however little or big it might be. Nothing he couldn't heal easily once he'd put some distance between himself and the enemy.
no subject
He grinned. "Who's the one being reckless, huh?"
no subject
no subject
"All right, who's next?" He gave his sword a little twirl before moving in on a stronger monster, one who didn't mind giving a few swings of its ugly fists. Somewhere, Repede barked. Probably reprimanding him.
