log; ongoing; closed

When; September 29, a little after midnight
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Nagi [[livejournal.com profile] brbmindbullets] and Schuldig [[livejournal.com profile] brbmindfuck]
Summary; Schuldig has some things to say about Nagi's recent actions.
Log; Schuldig leaned against the wall, eyes resting expectantly on the couch and the one lying on it. He'd torn the City apart looking for Nagi's body, a long and irritating search that had finally turned up results. He'd cleaned it up of course, it'd been so dirty. Now he just had to rely on the concept that his comrade would actually revive in twenty-four hours. The guides for the City said as much, but he hadn't seen it happen so of course he'd be dubious.

Tch. He was irritated by the entire situation. Nagi shouldn't be dead. What the hell was going on, what had Nagi done to end up like this? What wasn't Nagi telling him? And who were the people that had responded to his death? Well, he'd find out as soon as the youngest member of Schwarz woke up. If he woke up like the guides said he would.

When Nagi woke up, the first thing he noticed was the intense cold, the lack of necessity to breath, and the quiet. The quiet was overbearing and pressing against him, making his scars ache and bones cry. He felt tired, more than he ever had before. What a fight that was... to think that that man could just enter his psychobarriers like that.

Bizarre.

He didn't feel particularly upset that he'd died. No- what was more important was Schuldig and Tot and- to some extent, Nena. She had to have seen that, and he felt as if he'd disappointed a little. And by extension, he disappointed that. That was absolutely unforgivable...

And what would Schuldig think? None of them had ever come close to dying before. And to be killed in such a way- it must have been a shock.

With a sigh, Nagi stretched and sat up, enduring the heaviness of his body, the phantom pain.

Nagi couldn't speak. He had no logical explanation, really. He wasn't supposed to die. Breakers were only supposed to get voted out- why had he become the target? Did Nanako vote for him? That would certainly explain the 'BETRAYED' scar still on his arm. If that was true, he had a few words for her.

But for now, he had to deal with Schuldig. He didn't have to look up at him to know Schuldig was very displeased with him. He could sense the tone, the aura.

All he wanted to do was see Tot. Why did things turn out like this?

He knew Schuldig wasn't too pleased, he just knew it. Like a good boy, Nagi endured the pain, though it wasn't like it was too big of a deal for him. He'd suffered much worse only twenty-four hours ago. Still, he didn't like to see Schuldig look at him like that. They were comrades.

"It's- complicated." How was he supposed to explain that sort of thing? That he entered this game for the small chance he'd be able to see Tot. It was in the rules that he couldn't tell anyone from the beginning.

Ah- this wasn't good. Not good at all. Schuldig was angry with him, and he didn't want that. Schwarz was all he had, after all, aside from Tot. Schwarz was the closest thing he had to a family.

He tried to piece together the words in his head. What was the best way to explain this?

"I wasn't supposed to die," he said. "I still don't know why I did."

And he truly didn't. Nanako didn't seem like the type to betray him, and if she understand the premise of the game, she shouldn't want to sabotage their side. Or perhaps- because of her type, the killing became too much? He didn't know for sure, he could only make speculations.

Nagi let out a groan, feeling the pain blossoming from his skull. He lay still, staring up at Schuldig with an expression of discomfort. He deserved this, after all. He should have at least done something to let Schuldig know something was to come. He'd been foolish.

"I-" he rasped, but did his best to speak clearly. "It was a game. If we won, we could get whatever we wanted."

He took a moment to inhale out of habit. His sleeve slipped down a bit, and he could see the end of the scar looming at him, taunting him. A sign of his utter failure. "They gave me proof."

Nagi winced. Things were getting bad, he could tell. As if it weren't obvious enough that Schuldig was displeased with him- now he could literally feel it. The disappointment, the anger, it would like his scar was burning with shame.

"They drop clues for the other players after a death. I suppose this was mine."

I'm sorry, he wanted to say, but those words were useless and wouldn't do a damn thing to change what had happened. He made some stupid mistakes, yes, but what was he supposed to do? There was a possibility to see Tot. And he missed her. He missed her so much.

"I wasn't supposed to die. I was the one voting who got killed. I don't know what happened- but he could go through my barrier. The game master."

"I won't." That was his final answer as he continued to remain hunched over, trying not to concentrate on his possible bruises and other wounds.

No- the only thing he planned to do was train his mental abilities, become stronger so that he could gain his life back and go home to see Tot. He needed to become stronger in order to avoid being cursed again. He couldn't afford to lose Schuldig's trust. He really messed things up.
