Log; Ongoing
When; Friday
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Those listed here
Summary; Expedition to the clock
Log;
Jaime supposed he was basically leading this expedition, but it was a little awkward since he was the youngest as far as he could tell and also didn't know where they were going. The Scarab wasn't being particularly helpful, either because of the city!magic or because it was angry at him for telling it very sternly not to keep any records of their trip. He was armored up, of course, so anyone who'd only seen him as a scrawny kid might have been a little surprised, now that he was winged and blue (but still scrawny).
They were gathered at the part of the Underground where there were still some (slightly sketchy) shops and no visible monsters. "Okay, everyone. We're all here, so...let's get going. Experienced fighters to the front and back, magic users around those without major powers or combat skills, and...I guess that's it unless someone has a better strategy."
[ooc: Basically, you can post with your character for anything taking place in the Underground during the trip there. Please say whether the thread is open or not. I'll post with Jaime for a few random events, and eventually when the clock is reached. Haven't heard anything from the mods about that, so I'll probably hold off posting about that until tomorrow. Other than that this is a giant free-for-all.
ETA: Have heard from mods. The deeper underground, the more/more dangerous the monsters. They can be anything beastly, so feel free to NPC stuff. Also, there will be more difficult terrain, cave-ins, caverns, etc. At the end, they will be able to see the clock but not actually come close enough to touch it.]

OPEN
In fact, if someone else wanted to take charge, he wouldn't fight it. Alien invasions were one thing, leading an group of friends and people he didn't really know at all on a trip to he wasn't totally sure what was another.
OPEN
She checked the state of her weapons and twirled an arrow between her fingers before loading up her bow; best be prepared at all times in this place. Who knew what the City would throw at them, especially to the clock that had a not so hot reputation?
If it seemed like Kate was taking charge, she was. It was what Kate did best. Ask the rest of the Young Avengers. They knew how she rolled.
OPEN
"Psst, Kate, do you know exactly which way we're going?"
OPEN
Wait a minute. Did he just ask her that? He did just ask her that.
"How would I know, Jaime?" Kate replied, her voice dropping to a whisper. Last thing they all needed was a revolt against the guy in the blue metal suit because he had no idea what to do. "You're the one who came up with this idea. I just came along because if Teddy and Billy didn't come back from this in one piece, I'd never forgive myself." That and it had been a while since they all got into trouble as a team. Good times.
OPEN
He tried to stand straighter and look like like someone who people could actually trust with their lives. Oh, who was he kidding. Most of the people in this group seemed like he could take care of themselves, plus leadership was Robin or Cassie's deals.
"Hey everyone, listen to Kate but follow Sylar," he yelled.
OPEN
When Jaime told people to follow him, Sylar looked back and smiled at the guy. "It's very well hidden. Sometimes they even move it." Although that didn't seem to affect his mood at all.
OPEN
"So I take it you've done this before?" he asked Sylar, managing to look up at the man without turning his face up like a child. Not that it mattered much - by all appearances he did look like a ten-year-old boy wielding a rather large staff. He was dressed in what might pass for normal Earth clothing if it weren't for the eccentric application of earrings in both ears. You can take a person out of their world, sometimes, but you can't take that world out of the person.
OPEN
"So we just wander around until we find something?"
OPEN
He didn't look at Clef as if he were a child- he'd been here long enough to know that the outer shell was never a good indication of the age or power of an individual. "It's not an easy trip, and you won't see much when you get there. But what you will see is fascinating."
OPEN
He came across a fork in their path and chose left, which was slightly steeper of the two.
OPEN
He noticed Clef, and his apparent age, but he and the Scarab were guessing major magical powers for that one.
"Either way, we have to start somewhere."
OPEN
Sylar loved the idea of doing something proactive without the impetus of a curse as well. And maybe this group would be less bent on trying to figure out what he was trying to pull and more intent on figuring out more about the Clock. Sylar had mechanical expertise, but that definitely wasn't all that was used for this thing.
OPEN
"The path changed?" she asked, as her curiosity got the better of her. "How is that possible?" Despite her rather androgynous appearance, her voice sounded clearly female.
OPEN
His smile faded, finally, as he considered it. "The deities are immensely frustrating. After the last expedition, they destroyed our recordings. Everyone else who went gave up on trying to figure it out." He was obviously disappointed with that.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
"Are those triffids?" said Jaime, raising an eyebrow, not that anyone could really tell under the armor. And then one stung him. "Aagh! Guys, they have deadly poison, do not let those things sting you," he said, though he appeared unaffected.
He took aim at the lead triffid and then nothing happened. "Scarab, they're not plants. Do you see the part where they're walking and tried to kill me? And if they are plants I don't care." And then he had an argument that the others could only hear half of.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
"Can I cut this open? Will that kill it?" he asked Jaime quickly. He'd never seen these things before- he didn't want to cut it, only to have it explode in spores or something terrible.
He was leaving the other two for the rest of the group to handle, curious what skills they had between them. If these triffids got too close, he'd hold them back telekinetically...and- well, if one got past him, that would emphasize the danger. It looked like they could hardly walk, anyway.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
Having won his argument with the Scarab, he transformed his arms into blades and sliced at triffid #2. It dodged, but he got a slice in, and out of the corner of his eve watched to see what Sylar would do while he dodged blocked this one's stinger from attacking anyone else in the group. Could Sylar cut one open purely with telekinesis? He definitely had some impressive powers, though nothing Jaime hadn't seen before.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
Sylar's smile widened to a grin as he glanced at Jaime and turned towards another one, this time with a hand glowing with blue electricity. There was a reason he'd managed this trip alone before.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
He shot triffid #2 with a bolt of energy and it burst squishily. "Electrical powers too. Handy." He tried to sound more casual than inquisitive.
OPEN
"What a nuisance." Not impressed with it, why was being frustrating their very trademark? "They don't want us to know something, hm~?"
Noticing his disappointment, she looked at him more closely. "...Everyone else, but not you." It was a curious detail to keep in mind. How did Jaime call him again? Ah, yes - Sylar.
Monster Attack #1 (open)
Her companions' efforts, though, were so much more interesting!
Monster Attack #1 (open)
The third triffid lurched in his direction, and Sylar held a hand out, his expression suddenly turning serious. The small bolts that had been jumping around in his hand became one large blinding bolt and completely encompassed the triffid. the monster fell twitching to the floor and caught fire, and Sylar finally pulled back the spark.
