log; ongoing; closed

When; October 29, afternoon
Rating; PG
Characters; Yuri Lowell [[livejournal.com profile] notflynn] and Jade Curtiss [[livejournal.com profile] fomichrist]
Summary; Living only 600 rooms apart, Yuri takes the Colonel around the City and finally to Cassagioso for a manly drink. Or, at least, Jade will have manly drinks, and Yuri will have some hot chocolate.
Log; Yuri was a man of his word. He was also a curious man, one who wanted to know a little bit more about the mysterious colonel who just appeared on the City's doorsteps. After their brief conversation over the network, his interest only grew.

A man of the Imperial Forces. That should be interesting. Already he didn't seem a thing like Flynn, but he entertained the thought anyway (of course, this didn't mean he missed Flynn either. Oh hell no).

After a long, long journey, he finally made it to room 669. Damn. That made up for his morning training, at least. He gave a quick knock and surveyed the hallway. Not any different from his own hallway.

A new world, a new city, a new bar. Being yet another man of his word and more importantly a man of his whiskey, Jade found it imperative to scout out what would undoubtedly become one of his most frequented establishments. Really, what better way to get acquainted with his surroundings than to be accompanied by what seemed to be quite the curious character in an, er, manly escapade?

Jade's philosophy might have been that scent is the essence of the gentleman, but if asked, he would always be sure to mention the alcoholic component as well.

Though, he would have to apologize in advance for only being able to contribute a small sum towards their eventual tab.

He made his way towards the source of the knocking sound, opening the door with a congenial smile set on his face.

"Ah, how good of you to come, Yuri."

Closing the door behind him, Jade briskly stepped out into the hall of the building, giving Yuri a sideways glance before replying with that ever-present lilt to his tone. Something about the other man reminded Jade a little of Peony, and his facade of a smile quirked just a bit into a genuine one at the observation.

"Ready as I'll ever be--though I must confess that I haven't had enough time to acquire any amount of this world's currency. I hope this outing isn't presumptuous of me."

"Absolutely nothing. Curiously enough, I was able to procure this apartment with the small sum of my own world's currency that I had on me upon arrival. Fortunately, I've already found employment, so I should be bringing in a modest income soon enough."

Jade made a mere living as a colonel, but he was by no means wealthy. That being said, he had never considered money to be something hard to acquire when he endeavored to procure it--which would account for his cavalier attitude in addition to his hesitation to mooch off the generosity of others.

"I do intend to return the favor once I start working."

"Perhaps, though I believe that we create our own luck," Jade mused aloud, following Yuri's lead through the building and eventually down to the city.

People often misinterpreted Jade's words to mean something entirely more egotistical than they'd been originally intended--though to be fair, he held an almost universal apathy towards such reactions. However....

"That being said, we may be entirely devoid of luck having ended up in this city. Out of curiosity, where were you able to find employment?"

He wasn't always adverse to cushioning the blow of his blunt delivery, even if he unwittingly asked a question that was a sore spot for the other man. Despite that fact, Jade didn't intend on fully trusting a strange man from a strange city until he'd performed some verbal reconnaissance. After all, he was a colonel.

[ooc: Way sorry for the delay, man! *brofist* Hiatus wound up bein' longer than I intended, but guess who's back! Back again! Michelle's back! TELL A FRIEND~]

A bookstore, hm? Well, Yuri didn't seem to be the type; odd jobs seemed to be more on-track as far as careers went, and Jade didn't misread people often.

That is to say, Jade did indeed have the worst sort of intuition.

"And do you find your current job preferable to your stint at the bookstore?"

Oh, he just couldn't help himself sometimes.
