Log;

Three courses in three hours. Ino thought this was a small triumph, considering she spent a third of that time just dragging Yuri around. Half the ingredients they'd bought had ended up on themselves, and they kept getting interrupted every thirty minutes or so, but in the end, they had pretty damn good curry (courtesy of Yuri and his super secret ingredient), the best barbecued pork over rice Ino had ever made (if she did say so herself), and pudding. Which was just great in and of itself.

And it only took three hours.

Ino smiled and started stacking dirty plates, one on top of the other. There were a lot of them, plus many, many more in the kitchen that they'd turned upside down. She was just glad that she didn't have to do all of the cleaning; it wasn't her kitchen.

"You must've put some kind of secret ingredient in this pudding," she teased, glancing over her shoulder at Yuri. "It's too good to come from a box."

"Love," he replied, as he started running the water, waiting for it to get warm. He readied the sponge and dish soap as he waited for the dishes.

Dinner had been surprisingly fun for him. Just fooling around with Ino and being a dork in general reminded him of his younger days with Flynn - the two just enjoying themselves and not worrying about the empire or the hardships of life. It was always nice to forget stress and let go. With Ino, he could always do just that.

And man, he was starting to almost enjoy cooking, having to do it all the time when it wasn't Ruca's turn (and of course, he had some leftovers for the others just in case).

"The best ingredient for any recipe is love."

"Love." He gave her a serious look - why did everyone doubt him when he mentioned love as an ingredient? Of course, they had every reason not to believe him, because of course he never did anything special. He just went by the recipe.

He grabbed the first dish and started to soap it up, wiping away the curry sauce and the bits of rice and vegetables still stuck to it.

"Thanks. You know, you don't have to help, though I can't say I'm complaining."

Washing off the dish, he handed it to her.

"Absolutely everything. A smart woman said it was the secret to life." He laughed, because he knew it was ridiculous. But he'd been running with that story for so long, he almost loathed to part with it. Especially since everyone's reactions were always so interesting.

He grabbed a cup this time, and it was a little more difficult to clean. And no, he didn't know how to work the dishwasher. As if that sort of advanced technology existed where he was from!

"You don't have to hide you know," he started, his voice teasing.

"Has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?" He said this as if he understood what love was all about, but everyone knew he was the most retarded person when it come to any sort of love. Loyalty and friendship he could do. But love was something strange to him, even in the platonic sense.

He handed her the cup. At this rate, the washing and drying was going to take forever. This is why he hated chores. They took too long, and they were never any fun unless someone else was around (and it wasn't as if his roommates were sociable enough to sit around and talk with him).

"I'd say you just want to spend more time with me."

He washed the next few dishes and silverware a bit quicker at her command, laying them in the other sink for her to retrieve. What an efficient little system they had. He'd have to utilize it more in the future.

Grinning, he flicked a small mound of bubbles at her. Whether or not it actually landed on her depended on his flicking capabilities and his aim, which were a little awkward when you were trying to discreetly angle a genius flicking maneuver.

"Now where's the fun in that?" Damn, he missed. But the shoulder was good enough for him. Unfortunately, there was a bit of a backlash and he got some on himself, too. Whatever.

The last thing needing cleaning was a giant, giant pot. It was still a little warm and kind of gross and full of chunky curry sauce. Even Yuri made a face at it as he washed the inside out.

He literally jumped up in surprise. He certainly hadn't been expecting that of all things. That was his- That ass was only meant to be kicked by Flynn during battle! Not slapped upon with a towel! Seriously, he just turned to look at her-

-before cracking up laughing. Man, Ino sure was something. Estelle would have never had the guts to do something like that.

"You got me!" His laughter quieted until he was left smirking. "As usual, I can never win."

I CAN'T FOCUS so here I am instead

There was a little bit of soap still on his hands, and he reached up to smear a little one her cheek. And he smirked, feeling very accomplished for his task.

"I'm a fast learner." Of course, he just demonstrated that he pretty much wasn't, but he just couldn't help himself sometimes. Teasing someone who could tease back was a challenge, an interesting one. It was like with Flynn only without getting scolded every so often.

He dried his hands and dipped a finger in the bowl of leftover pudding.

omg this is the worst paper-writing experience ever /IYAN

He leaned against the countertop as he watched her dry. He definitely got the nasty part of the job. Figures. "Well, I gotta admit, learning's not all that fun, either."

He continued to sneak bits of pudding. They did a bang-up job. That stuff tasted so damn good. If he wasn't careful, he'd eat it all, one finger at a time.

[identity profile] notflynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"What, I can't have any?" One last suck of a finger and he stopped. He'll definitely have to use that recipe more. It was damn good. Or maybe it was because he had a little help this time around... She sure was way more helpful than Leon ever was in the kitchen. That boy was a mess without trying.

"All right, all right. You taking some back to share with that friend of yours?" Oh wait- "Your teammate?"

[identity profile] notflynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I just washed the dishes- my hands are clean, what's the problem?" Yuri's logic was as amazing and reasonable as always. He holds up a hand and waves his fingers a little as if that demonstrated just how clean his fingers were. They were covered in blood and dirt- that was definitely good enough!

Speaking of blood- he wet a rag and wiped at a speck of dried blood on the counter. Man that blood-curse had totally messed up their apartment.

[identity profile] notflynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? Didn't notice." Even if she didn't mean it, he rather liked that remark. Yeah, he was total man. All testosterone, baby. He posed against the counter top again.

"So what do you do at this point in a date, huh?" Because, really, it wasn't like he ever went on many. The one with Estelle was the last date - and one of the very few he'd ever had ever. Yeah, he was a total stud, but romance totally wasn't his strong suit.

[identity profile] notflynn.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing he'd be interested in? He was curious, but didn't push it. If it was nothing he'd be interested in, surely Ino knew what she was talking about. It wouldn't do to talk about uninteresting things on this supposed-date. Nah, he'd rather focus on other things. Like the sudden change in tone.

"Home? Makes sense," he said, thinking a little. "Sure you can't stick around? I'm sure Leon and the others wouldn't mind."

A part of him didn't want her to go. Things were just too much fun with her around, and he was the only lame one staying in the apartment for the day. He could always go out himself, but he'd come to enjoy others' company. The life of the lone wolf was getting a little dull.
