Log: Ongoing

When; Saturday, December 12, 5:30pm
Rating; PG? PG-13 for mistletoe??
Characters; friends and acquaintances to the Pevensies, Caspian, and Reepicheep
Summary; Moving into a new home calls for a housewarming party.
Log;
Welcome to the new house(s). It might have been easy finding the place by the single lamp post out front whose light never goes out. Now that you're here, your Narnian hosts invite you to a night of fine food and delicious drink with friends in order to give their home that lived in feeling. If you're up to a dance please hit the floor with your swinging moves. If you'd rather sit then feel free to browse a book while you're at it. Hungry for more? That's what the kitchen is for. If the weather isn't too cold for you there's always fresh air on the balcony. There are festive lights strewn about in the spirit of the season and some sprigs hanging above...which may or may not have been put there on purpose. Watch your step for the resident cat and if you look hard enough you might spot the (temporary) resident pig too.

[ooc: Even if they didn't invite your character directly, basically anyone who is friends with the Narnians or are on good terms with them can come. Assume an invitation was made or maybe they saw Susan's post. White Witches obviously excluded 8| The few buildings towards the back of the villa are not open/built yet so the party is pretty much taking place within the two buildings towards the front and on the balcony!]

The kitchen seems like a safe place to start, even though Claire knows that she won't be in here for very long. Her mother always told her that you were supposed to bring some sort of house warming gift whenever someone either moved into the neighborhood or changed houses, and while Claire isn't the best at picking out gifts, necessarily, baking is considered something of a forte, and as per usual she hopes that she doesn't disappoint. Even if none of the people who actually live here eat the cake, she's sure that someone will. Not too many people - especially people Claire's age - are immune to chocolate.

She sets the dish down on the counter, moving to wipe her hands on her long coat as an automatic reflex but stopping herself before any escaped chocolate from the cake leaves a stain that she'll have to berate herself for in Sandra Bennet's place later. Instead of risking anything for anyone, Claire just takes the jacket off so that she's left in her dress and shoes. They click brightly across the flooring as Claire moves through people to find Ginny, who actually is the ball to Claire's chain at the moment.

[ooc: I have to have lunch and then run to work but I promise tags when I get back!]

Roommates, after all, should stick together. But Gryffindors are wont to explore, Weasleys even more so, which is probably why the youngest of the lot isn't where she said she'd be waiting when Claire ducked into the kitchen to drop off the cake. Instead, Ginny is weaving through rooms and people, taking in the sight of the new house all done up for the holiday season, wand twirling absently between her fingers as she tries to figure an appropriate housewarming gift, tries to see what the place might need - something practical, of course, but thoughtful.

She's excellent at Charms but only a fairly adequate hand at Transfiguration, so there's that to consider too. That's probably why Ginny opted to merely change the colour of a dress (http://www.gosee.de/images/content2/karoline3.jpg) that was once bottle green into a rich blue; hopefully, no one would notice that she's worn it before. A witch knows how to work around spending money when she needs to, after all. She also knows how to turn up just as she's being looked for - intuition, if you will.

Ginny can find her way back easily, familiar with the house after all the time she had spent helping to fix it up, but she takes her time. Ball and chain, chain and ball, doesn't matter how you put it - Claire and Ginny can find each other if they absolutely need to.

But for now, Ginny's wondering if conjuring a bouquet of flowers is a cop-out of a gift.

[ooc; fffff i keep editing this thing, I'LL STOP I SWEAR. Feel free to tag Ginnyyyy.]

Miss Pevensie is certainly loading up that plate full of sweets. You would imagine, with the way they are piled on her plate that her brothers and sister never fed her, but that's not true. This is a party. She's having a good time.

You can find her in the kitchen, if that's where you're looking.

It's weird but. Tianzi is rather fascinated by the lamp post. She spends a good deal outside circling it, until she braves to touch it lightly- and then scamper inside in a flurry of blue and purple silks. It really was amazing- really amazing! She was used to opulent surroundings, Luo Yang was palace after palace, garden after garden... but this sort of thing was different. It felt more like a home, than anything else.

But that's part of what had always enchanted her about them, wasn't it? The Tianzi couldn't help poke about, curiously seeking out nooks and crannies, peering down hallways and in to all the rooms she found, giving small smiles and waves to anyone she came across.

Keeping busy is a good way of keeping one's spirits up, and that's the method Rosella's been doing her best to follow today. While she must admit that the Pevensies are more acquaintances than friends to her, she has encountered them all a few times before, since they have quite a few mutual friends and tend to travel in the same circles. So she's pleased for the chance to get to know them better, and congratulating them on their new home seems a fine way to do it.

Once she arrives, she slowly drifts from one room to the next, greeting familiar faces and admiring the beauty of the house. The library draws her particular attention--she does love books, very much so--and so that's where she finds herself spending a great deal of time, though the sweets in the kitchen are terribly tempting, and she's never one to pass up the chance to have a turn on the dance floor.

She heard his footsteps behind her, turning to catch sight of someone she hadn't seen in- well, it felt like a while, but had it only been so short a time, just a month that she'd been away from this place?

"Caspian!"

Inara only knows Caspian but she likes a party so she shows up in a dark green, silk gown. She picks up a drink and small plate of appetizers to pick at while she wanders the party and looks for Caspian or anyone else she knows. She's open to meeting new people as well.

Had they in fact been arguing that point, Rosella might've pointed out that regardless of technicalities, it's a library in her book. But only because she wouldn't have been able to resist the pun.

"A few," she answers, glancing over to greet Caspian with a smile in return. Though she's been more admiring the books themselves and glancing over the titles on the spines than doing any actual reading. "I can never say no to a good book, it seems."

"Hey, Caspian. You, or the house?" comes the immediate cheeky remark, all teasing grin and twinkling eyes. Can one really expect any less from a Weasley? But she of course knows what Caspian means, and she nods only a moment after the words leave her lips, bright brown gaze turning back to the place as a whole.

"It's absolutely fantastic," Ginny continues. "The lights are an especially nice touch." With a smile still in place, she turns back to the Telmarine and adds, "I didn't bring any sweets around this time because Claire's got the cake, but keep an eye out when Christmas comes around."

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"With the way I sometimes get around books, it might go missing for more than a week," Rosella replies lightly. But it's clear from the way her smile widens that she's pleased for the offer.

She takes a moment before she answers his question, though, because while it's tempting to admit that she's been more miserable the past few weeks than she's been in a long time, she doesn't want to think about it all, or to risk dwelling on it by mentioning it. So instead, she answers, "Well, you know how the City goes--if it's not one thing, it's another. But I'm quite all right, thank you."

It's both polite and true, but not very difficult to read between the lines, should Caspian so choose.

[identity profile] only-fell.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Inara catches sight of Caspian and smiles as she heads toward him. No worries, she isn't one to tell him that he's too young to drink. She greets him with a slight curtsy and a teasing grin.

"Caspian, I had hoped I'd see you here."

[identity profile] only-fell.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Depending on those friends you might duck out early," she teased him in return. "I am enjoying myself very much. Your home is beautiful."

[identity profile] primrosella.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
After all this time, Rosella has grown familiar with the great balancing act of the City; as much as she may dislike the place at times, this is the only place in the world--any world--where she can be with her closest friends. She may not have the pleasure of having family with her, as the Pevensies do, but she has the best friends she's ever had in any world, and that's as good as the same thing for her. That's what she's been trying to focus on all day, and there's no better way to focus than by seeing those friends in person. So in that respect, the party has succeeded in one of its goals.

"I'm glad I did, too," she replies softly, glancing briefly toward the shelves before turning her eyes back to Caspian. "It really is lovely--everything, I mean. It shows, how much care and effort you all must've put into making it perfect."

[identity profile] only-fell.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
"That's what you keep a summer home for," she laughs softly. Her eyes widen at his statement about the previous state of the house. "I would never have guessed. Did you and your friends do most of the work yourselves?"
