Log; Ongoing
When; Evening of May 10th
Rating; PG-13, I dunno.
Characters; Harry
dresden4hire and Anna
backseatangel
Summary; Harry buys Anna a drink after her crazy day.
Log; After taking Mouse for a short walk he had a quick shower before heading to Turnabout to meet Anna. He felt bad for making light of how worried she was about him but he was never very good at accepting concern. Hopefully she was good at accepting liquid apologies.
He got there early and saved a table for them, holding off on getting something to drink until Anna was there.

So having Harry make light of it the next day had pissed her off. He meant well, he did. Had the same defenses Dean did, it was probably why she liked him, but it still stung.
So he was gonna buy her a drink and he was going to like it.
She walked up, hands in the pockets of her jacket, hair pulled back in a simple pony-tail.
"Hey, Harry."

"I have no idea what you drink, so I didn't order anything for you," Harry added. Not that he was particularly talented at guessing what people would drink.

She sank into the chair, waving that he could sit too. Manners she appreciated, but she was still tired and irritated.

"And I'm sorry for being such an ass," Harry quickly added. "Especially when you were so concerned for me."
no subject
"Apology accepted. I'm sorry, too I just get so... I used to have all this power. I could have protected all of you once and now..."
no subject
"Look at Ba-" he started to say before realizing "look at Batman" might be taken as a joke.
"-aasically every famous person in history. All human, all did amazing things. And showing people you care? That's a pretty powerful thing, Anna."
no subject
"It doesn't feel that way when your roommate's crawling out a window because his dead mother is calling him."
no subject
"Is he alright?" Harry asked. He knew a lot of people weren't alright after yesterday.
no subject
But it's more than that, she knew he must feel miserable after hearing his mother... and with those memories so fresh she was probably one of the last people he'd want to see. Hell, he'd said as much yesterday.

She waived at a passing barista and asked her if she'd mind bringing a drink out. Drink ordered, she paused before she continued.
"I wonder if that's because, technically, I don't have one."
no subject
"I don't think the Deities care about particulars quite so much," he said. "If you have a mother figure that would have worked well enough to cause you to miss them, I'm sure that's good enough for them."

She tears a strip off a paper napkin.
"But hey, that's what happens when your kid's really a fallen angel, you get killed by the first passing demon looking for her and then she gets sucked into another dimension."
She pauses, realizing what she's just said. "Jesus, I'm depressing."
no subject
"You're just a regular Mary Sunshine today," he said.
no subject
"Chocolate will help. Chocolate and then I can go home and throw something at Dean's head for scaring me like that."
no subject
"And along with throwing things, might I suggest purchasing a taser?" he said. "Immobilizing but not too painful."
no subject
She mock-sighed, willing to play along since it was cheering her up some. "Throwing a book is an act of impulsive passion. Coming home with a taser implies forethought and planning."
no subject
"Or, it's a sign that you care. Getting a taser says to someone, 'I care enough to find a way to prevent you from getting hurt by curses in the future'," he explained. "And maybe you need to try it out once to find out how long that person is incapacitated for."
no subject
Because that was the real test right there.

The drinks came and Anna blew on the top of hers to cool it.
"You're alright, right? Just some scrapes and bruises?"
no subject
“But I’m pretty much all healed up now.”
no subject
She tilted her head a little, "You said you weren't alone, who were you with again?"
no subject
"We almost ended up killing each other."
no subject
no subject
"We both heard our mother telling us that the other was dangerous," he explained. "Eventually the voice told her to kill each other."

"But you seem to be more the kind that would hope the My Little Ponies would show up," he said. "Wait, no, She-Ra. Definitely She-Ra. But you have no idea who She-Ra is, do you?"
no subject
no subject
"Yeah, she's the girl He-Man, basically," Harry said. "So kind of like Xena."
no subject
Besides, "Smurfs. I remember watching the re-runs when I was little." She smiled, "I think a set of Smurfs smurfing around the City would be amusing."

no subject
"My human dad I should say."

She giggles a little.
no subject
"Plus, really, he got to hand out with Smurfette the most," he confessed.
no subject
She smirked, "Harry Dresden, you're a perv sometimes."
no subject
"I cannot deny it," he said with a shrug of his shoulders. "It would help if women were generally less beautiful and amazing but you're not so..."

"Not flattery, just how it is," he said.
