Log;

Morning had all but passed away when Euphie's eyes finally blinked open. She was in her room. Everything looked like it was in place. It was clean with just a little bit of disorganization here and there. She wasn't as orderly as her brother after all, but she was no slob either. Her mind felt a little foggy. She closed her eyes and opened them again as if willing it to clear. Of course as soon as it does she regrets it.

Memories of the previous day flood her mind. The walk to Ken's house, thinking about how she would tease him about his younger self the day before. Kissing his cheek and grabbing his gun. The deafening cry of the gunshot. The blood. So much blood. And then Syaoran. And the things she said to everyone. She asked them to die. She asked them to kill.

Her eyes are wide by this point and tears are already filling them and spilling down her cheeks, but she's barely aware of it as she pulls herself up into a ball, her blanket covering her as she hides her face and sobs more loudly.

Euphemia had yet to arise yet this morning. Lelouch periodically would come in and check on her to see if she had come to or not. Yesterday was far too eventful for his liking. This would not be allowed to happen again. He would have to keep a closer eye on her. Hearing some of the tales that he had yesterday, it was also clear that he would have to scout out some of those that she called friend. They also needed to be watched and assessed. There was much work to be done and all because Lelouch had been too lax. That would change.

With a sigh and rubbing at his temples, he finally got up once again. This would be hard. He had no idea what she would remember from yesterday, if anything...

Working up some courage, he went to go take a look. If the sobs on the other side were anything to go by, then she remembered. His heart suddenly lurched, ached. Lelouch knew that he was to blame for her pain, even if this time no one was killed. It brought up bad memories and she had hurt those that she cared for. Such things were taboo to Euphemia and far more devastating to her personality. To see her, or rather hear her, in such a state... To know that it was his fault.

Finding his voice, he tapped on the door with his knuckles. "Euphemia..."

Without any hesitation he walked in. Lelouch took the liberty to sit on Euphemia's bed. He didn't dare touch her, as she should know that this wouldn't be happening at all if not for him. He didn't feel as though he deserved to be here to comfort her at all. What right did he have?

"Everyone's all right, Euphie."

His fingers dug into his legs from his seated position... Euphie...

"Yes, I am certain. You have found some very capable knights. Everyone is really more concerned for you."

Lelouch wouldn't look at her. It wasn't because he didn't want to. He couldn't. Guilt was practically radiating off of him.

"They were healed, so naturally they will worry for you too."

"How much of it do you remember?"

He was sorry, so sorry. Lelouch didn't want to see this happen again. While this time wasn't as bad... The pain it would cause her was just too much.

This time he did look over his shoulder. That look...

"It's not really your fault, Euphemia. I should have been more attentive. I should have expected something like this sooner. The one to blame is me."

[identity profile] wishsrequiem.livejournal.com 2010-07-19 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"I didn't have to pull the trigger, this is true, but I am to blame all the same. You and I both know this. If not for what I did, then this might not have occurred at all," he sighed.

Lelouch gingerly touched one of his eyes. All because of Geass and those damned deities playing them all...

"Don't shut them out, Euphie. I told them I wouldn't stop them from visiting. If anything, they are much better suited to speak to you than me."

That girl... With another sigh passing his lips, Lelouch turned enough on the bed to make this less awkward for them both. If she was to insist contact, he was not going to deny it. Whatever it was that she needed, he would go on and do. A hand found itself on her head.

"No, I didn't. That does not mean that it is any less my burden to bear. It shouldn't be yours."

"Enough," he muttered. Even though she did not finish, he knew what she was thinking on the inside.

"Just get it off of your chest now and we'll discuss what's to come when you're feeling better."

"Later, Euphemia..."

That would the end of the conversation right there.

How could he resist that look? Simple. He wouldn't be able to.

"It's nothing bad, I promise. I won't let anything like that happen again."

"And neither can you."

His hold tightened as well. At least she stopped arguing with him, even it would be short lived. This was all he could do for her at this point in time.
