Log;
Aizen calmly waited on the rooftop, sipping at his green tea and leaning against a storage shack. He stared at his pocket-watch and snorted amusedly at a pair of birds fighting overhead.

"Don't keep me waiting, Orochimaru," he casually mused, "I respect punctuality."

He had laid out another cushion, with a seperate cup for his guest.

"Is that so?" Orochimaru asked, as he walked up, the other man was sitting on a cushion like it was a throne. His arms were folded casually over his chest, and, as usual, a smug grin gracing his lips as he spoke to Aizen. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

It was amusing, having been kicked out of his own apartment so that Kabuto could play match maker. Just because of the absurdity of such a thing, he had let it happen; if this were more of a negotiation type meeting, he would have never allowed such a thing, but as of yet, this was still considered a “friendly chat”.

Aizen gestured to the other cushion and cup.

"Can I interest you in some tea?"

He yawned and reached into his kimono, then placed down a notepad with pages of written research.

"I believe we talked of research opportunities? I have been taking the different abilities of others here into account."

Orochimaru took a seat across from Aizen, accepting the tea. He observed the other man as he casually took out his research and set it down as if it were of no importance. "I can't imagine that many were very forthcoming with information, but I am very interested in what you might have found out. The possibility of other worlds with such different people's and abilities was not something that was even considered in my own." He held the tea cup in his hands but did not drink, and his tone of voice could have suggested that he was almost bored.

Aizen watched him carefully, taking not of his demeanor.

"Is there somewhere you would rather be?"

He shuffled the papers, and laid them out between them.

"Because I can always just postpone this.”

"No, there is no where else." Orochimaru grinned at Aizen, letting a little of his interest in the situation show; he wasn't sure how to deal with the Shinigami yet, not certain of his personality or personal quirks, and as such he didn't want to appear overly zealous about gaining information about the City's subjects without having to do the research himself. It was delicate, because there was always the chance of Aizen using what he wanted against him to extract more information than he was willing to trade.

He leaned forward a little, elbow on his knee and chin resting on his upturned palm, golden eyes openly examining the Shinigami. "What have you learned then?"

"Very well," he said, taking a breath before continuing.

"First of all there is the basis of most human power. I believe there is a correlation between things such as Nen, Chakra, Chi, Qui, and many other names humans give to the energy within them. If they are not the exact same thing, then they are similar enough to where it doesn't matter."

He laid out a diagram where chakra lines are were laid out on the body.

"This energy flows through the body just like the circulatory system, as I'm sure your aware."

"Yes." Orochimaru replied, eyes scanning the papers. "This would be identical to the chakara circulatory charts all gennin in my world are supposed to know before they even leave the academy. It's reassuring to know that all these strange abilities do have a connection."

He pointed to a spot near the center of the drawn figure. "Here were things called "chakara coils" where this inner energy is made. It is possible to disrupt these coils, and to drain them to the point of physical exhaustion even death." He didn't say any more, wanting to know how much Aizen already knew, like if he was aware of the tenketsu. Even if he was, Orochimaru doubted that Aizen knew there were currently two people in the City who could see them, and effectively shut all of them off in a matter of seconds.

"I was wondering that. It is possible for a shinigami to temporarily infuse a human with their own power, effectively making them a limited version of a shinigami. I wondered if humans who had trained effectively could have their own energy transferred to a shinigami or other being."

He laid out a few more papers.

"As you can see, our biology is different. We are composed of spiritual energy, and we don't have chakra points. We have "inner energy", but it is slighty different. We channel it into our 'demon arts', special spells, seals, and techniques for combat."

He set out a set of pictures, showing the body types of different classes of hollow.

"As you can see, aside from basic form, Hollows have nothing in common with humanity, either. They are, however, capable of generating their own internal energy, which they can use to teleport and release a great energy blast called a 'cero', which is powerful enough to vaporize or severely injure any regular human."

Aizen sipped his tea, then set it down and resumed his lesson.

"Do you understand so far?"

"Of course." Orochimaru was studying the diagrams and listening intently, committing everything said to memory. This spiritual energy, if what Aizen said before was to be taken into account, was similar to chakara. So, in a sense Shinigami were beings made from chakara, though different from the bijyuu of his world by far. These Hollows seemed to be made of another type of internally generated energy.

"Two types of energy in your world, but I recall you saying that it is possible to be able to use both." He needed to find out the little differences between things if he wanted to know how to use them, or if that was not possible, how to counter them.

"This "cero" is powerful enough to kill a normal human in one attack; there are jutsu in my world also capable of such a thing. Some powerful enough to completely change the landscape."

"Yes, up until recently it was considered impossible to mix the two. Shinigamis and Hollows were diametrically opposed. A shinigami with Hollow abilities, and vice-versa, was completely impossible. It was just another tale made of up by old men, afraid of the possibilities."

He took another soothing sip of tea.

"I had to experiment with many different people to try and create the proper mix, including other shinigami. All failures. Only Hollows will do, due to their hardier bodies and tolerance of pain. Thanks to recent events, I have come much closer to perfection. Grimmjow and Luppi are powerful Arrancars I made, but still very flawed. They cannot reach Bankai with their bastardized version of shinigami powers."

"As for landscape, I can make others see whatever landscape I want, so it's not a big deal. Most Arrancar simply destroy the landscape."

He stood and walked the roof casually, looking out over the city.

"The reason I was asking all of these questions is because I have an idea on how to make up for the weaknesses of my creations. Think about it. I'm sure you have people who can seal away chakra, just as I know spells that can bind shinigami powers."

"Imagine if someone has their powers bound, but then they just shift to ANOTHER set of powers? Ones that their enemies are unfamiliar with?"

"In my world, there are several different ways to seal off powers, but it is possible to get past them. Most with outside help, some just take luck, or time. Then, there is just waiting for whatever sealing was used to wear off." His eyes followed Aizen across the roof, but he remained seated. "But not matter which method is used, once your powers are sealed it usual means your death." There was also removing the use of your opponent’s arms, so they could not perform hand seals, but Orochimaru was sure there had to be a way around that.

Orochimaru's grin broadened as Aizen continued, he liked where this was going. "They would have not only the element of surprise, but their enemy would not know how to counter these new powers." And, with as many powers as were in the City, there were limitless possibilities. Even if the second set of powers were sealed away, there could be a third or a fourth beyond that.

Aizen smile and turned to face him, putting his hands in the fold of his kimono.

"Precisely. We have the advantage of knowing all these other powers and species, whereas people in our worlds do not. I have seen things here that I would never even have dreamed of in my world."

He looked wistfully at the sky.

"And naturally, having a greater plethora of abilities would make it easier to make it BACK to those worlds. As for the count-down, I am one of the individuals who believes that this world being destroyed would NOT affect my world. I believe this place is self-contained and has no bearing on other worlds."

"The Gods of this world do claim that the entirety of the worlds will be destroyed when this one is, but they have offered up no proof of this from what I understand. I can not bring myself to believe what they claim either, only this place, the connection to the different worlds will be destroyed and those who dwell here when the countdown concludes."

"I, of course, plan to be back within my own world by that time, and if I gain what I hope to from this place by then, my goals will be far more than just within my grasp." Orochimaru set his still untouched tea down.

"Which reminds me; you said that Shinigami powers would either have to be infused or the wielder would have to be dead. Would this be due to the soul needing to leave the physical body?"

"Yes. Like I said, we have human forms, organs, ect., but are composed of different base matter. This is the reason we can take more horrendous damage than a human."

He coughed and sat back down in front of Orochimaru.

"When a living being is given power, his spiritual form leaves his physical body behind while he is out of it. It remains in stasis for short time. Naturally, if he is out of it too long, the body will die."

"This is not an issue for me, however." Orochimaru pointed out. "If this body dies, I do not care, I will find a new one, and a new one after that. The problem is I am only able to use this jutsu once every three years, but since it is even possible for me to do this, I wonder if there is a way to manipulate it further. You mentioned being able to leave a physical body, which means you've already come up with a way to separate the soul from the body through either a technique or tool."

Orochimaru was fairly certain that a soul was bound to a body, but he had broken that bond when he had left his original body nearly forty years ago.

"True. Of course, a spiritual body inhabits a spiritual plane of existence parallel to the earthly one. The only reason we can interact is because natural laws go out the window in a place like this. In most cases, a shinigami has to have an artificial body made in order to interact with humans.

He smirked at Orochimaru, speaking in a slightly chiding manner.

"Ah, but what if you die from an enemy and the three years haven't elapsed? You'll die in that body. Even if you die here and get resurrected, you'll still be stuck here. Better to avoid damage, if at all possible."

He put most of his papers away in his robes and returned to his tea.

"But that's the basics of what I've been up to, so far. There IS one other matter..."

"Yes, in my world that would be the end of me, however in this place, once I am resurrected, I can simply transfer my soul into the body of someone from my world that is not dead. That is if I wish to return to my own world, if not I will choose the body of someone who is still alive from another world I wish to go to..." Orochimaru trailed off, thinking on something else Aizen had said. "Artificial body? Later, I would like to learn how to make one of these."

"We can deal with that subject later; what is this other matter?"

"Certainly. At a later point. I don't reveal the inner workings of the Science division to everyone."

He stood again and cracked his neck, stretching fitfully.

"I want to see the extent of your abilities at a point in the future."

Orochimaru tilted his head slightly to one side, giving Aizen a skeptical look. "A trade then? What you wish to know of my powers, for what I want of your world." He had his own secrets he could share, along with extensive knowledge on how a human's inner energies worked, and knew more jutsu that nearly anyone from his world, except for Uchiha Itachi, but even that would soon change.

It would be a difficult game to play though; too much information given away and he would walk away with nothing if not less, too little and the end result would be much the same. This Aizen was a smart man, and obviously good at manipulating people, if what he judged of his personality so far was any indication. He would have to be very careful.

If things worked out properly, then he would get what he needed. Also the ability to make his own bodies, instead of having to hunt for one, and groom one himself. There was also that genetics experiment he did years ago, where there was one successful case; if it had worked on an already living person, it would work on a body made from scratch with a much higher success rate.

"Once I have found myself a suitable base of operations then, perhaps, we can work something out?"

"What you have said sounds acceptable. I'll have to fight you, of course, just to gauge what you can do."

He began to clean up his sitting area.

"I believe that will be all for today."

Orochimaru stood, straightening out his clothing. "Until next time then." With a slight nod of his head, as close as he would ever come to a bow, he made his way to the edge of the roof, pausing momentarily to glance back at the Shinigami. He stepped over the edge and disappeared from sight. One last thought on the conversation crossed his mind as he made his way to his, hopefully vacated, apartment: Aizen was a dangerous man.

Aizen soon opened a space to his apartment, disappearing as well.
