Ongoing, Closed
When; July 29th mid afternoon
Rating; PG
Characters; Hikaru (
courage_of_fire), Umi (
soulofocean) and Fuu (
willofthewinds)
Summary; After Hikaru and Umi found out they belong to separate realities Umi decided Fuu should learn about this as soon as possible.
Log;
"This is the place. I thought you guys would like it, so... I picked it for us." Umi entered the crepes shop and gazed around with mild melancholy. This place... So many memories. She remembered when Utena and Wakaba were around, and how Wakaba used to run it. It felt right to have this sort of conversation here.
She turned to her friends and fellow Magic Knights and smiled more cheerfully. "Let's get that table and order something! Chatting will be way better over afternoon snacks..."
The Water Knight wondered how Fuu would take it. Or, more so, whether the sharp girl guessed at it already. In any case it was important to make sure the three of them were on the same page. This sort of confusion had already cost them the incident of Clef being attacked by Eagle. They couldn't allow that same kind of confusion to bring more trouble upon them. The City already gave them enough of that.
Sitting down, she nodded at the other girls so they did the same.
"So." This was the tricky part. Not that Umi believed what they shared here would change ANYTHING. It hadn't. Not between Hikaru and herself. "How to begin..."

Look at that one! Is it that one?! however Umi and Fuu kept on walking. It took only a few small springs to catch up once more. In a place like this, it almost felt normal. Like they were back in Tokyo.
Finally, they arrived at the shop Umi had selected. A curious set of eyes raked over both the facade on the outside and the interior upon entry. "Wow! Why hadn't I noticed this shop before?!" Hikaru beamed, reassuring the water knight of her choice. The sweet smell of pastries seemed to be inviting them in.
"I won't know which to order...."
Without hesitation, she moved over to the table but remained standing until the others had been seated. It looked like Umi had something on her mind, so Hikaru waited patiently for her to collect her thoughts.

Not that Fuu was particularly shocked by anything, really.
Upon entering, she placed a comforting hand on Hikaru's shoulder. "Shall I order for you then, Hikaru-san?" She asked with a smile, just like the usual one she gave her the first time they met. Turning to Umi, she sat down beside the Water Knight.
"Well, we can start by ordering something? It's always nice to converse while nourishing one's stomach," Fuu pointed out.

She picked up the menu a waitress handed over and started going reading it. "I think I'll just have one of the not sweet options. A light one. You guys can knock yourselves out. They got plenty of nice sweet crepes here..."
The waitress wrote down her order and waited for the other Knights to announce their own. Umi stupidly wondered, feeling a bit restless in her seat, what would it be. Their Hikaru loved desserts, right? She was bound to order something luscious and syrup-y. It wouldn't be any different.

It was a safe bet that Hikaru would target one of the sweeter varieties. Perusing the menu only made the decision that much harder. So in the end she decided to go with the first one that had caught her eye.
Hikaru waited as patiently as possible for her turn. "I'd like to try the caramel apple, please".

When she had already left, Fuu glanced over at her two comrades. "So, what seems to be our today's agenda?" She asked innocently, as if this whole thing was just a simple meeting. But, in her heart, it wasn't and whatever this could be might be important in its own right. She respected the urgency.

Still -- and probably quite dumbly -- something tensed inside her at Fuu's lighthearted way to address the conversation at hand.
Umi sat straight in her place, hands folded in her lap, and pouted involuntarily. Deep inside she was half wishing this was just a regular outing and nothing but.
"Look, Fuu. Hikaru and I were talking the other day." Smooth start. Rolling eyes at herself, she gathered her determination. "About Eagle and Cephiro and, uh. Well, all that's happened here so far! And... we actually found out something really interesting."
She gazed at the Flame Knight, sure that Hikaru knew what she was going on about.

The wind knight seemed keen on getting straight to the point for this gathering, casual approach or not. The sooner they talked everything out, the sooner they could enjoy the pastries! With an inquisitive gaze she looked toward Umi and waited. The other day? She blinked a few times. Could she be referring to that?
When the water knight returned her gaze, Hikaru took that as her cue to elaborate on the discussion in question, "That's right". She paused, wondering how Fuu would take this potentially startling information. No matter what, it was Fuu and she needed to know. Smiling she looked toward Fuu and filled in the blanks,"We discovered that we're from different dimensions".
"I know it probably sounds weird.. but Eagle and I seem to be from the same one. A dimension where Clef's ring is one of two keys to reaching the pillar system". Wait. Was she getting ahead of herself? Shouldn't they begin at the beginning. She searched Fuu's face for a reaction. How was she taking this...?

And it didn't take long before she spoke up after much silence. The silence should have already given way to her answer.
"I know,"
The statement was simple, but enough to convey assurance. Hououji Fuu kept her smile in place.

Fine, so nobody could tell Umi she hadn't considered this possibility: she'd been mulling it over just as the three of them were entering the crepes shop. But to hear it so plain and simple was another matter altogether. Even if she couldn't help feeling surprised, a part of Umi understood this wasn't really shocking.
Fuu was probably the most observant of the three. Besides, her heart rarely cheated her. Umi's own had needed a push to realize this since she'd been struggling with the idea this Hikaru was a different one, until her previous chat with the Flame Knight reassured her of the truth that, different dimensions or not, any Hikaru was HER Hikaru and that wouldn't change a thing.
She sat back and chuckled at her own silly way to get worked up over nothing. "Since when do you do...? Hikaru, did you mention anything to Fuu before?"

No need to rush though, "Yeah Fuu! When did you figure it out? What gave myself away?". Hikaru asked as if she had been trying to hide her background but that hadn't been her intention at all. Giggling, she was sure no one would take it the wrong way.
Hikaru almost asked if the wind knight felt uncomfortable that she was a different Hikaru but stopped herself. If Fuu had any major misgivings she probably would have told Umi already.. and since Umi had been just as surprised as herself that discussion never happened.

"Well, you and Eagle-san arrived at approximately the same time, if I'm not mistaken? You even arrived together. Since I learned from Eagle-san that he isn't from our dimension," The Wind Knight was explaining all this with her usual smile, as if this was the part where she'd uncover the culprit behind the mystery. "I came to an assumption that Hikaru-san is from the same reality as him."
She halted, still smiling, before adding. "But, will it matter?" Her simple question was Fuu's way of saying they were sisters no matter what and Hikaru would always be Hikaru. After all, even if she knew all this beforehand, she didn't treat the Flame Knight as if she was any different.

No, nothing except the mention of that Pillar Room. Umi sighed without noticing she'd been holding her breath the whole time.
"I mean, not for us." She waved around to indicate the three of them, as the waitress returned with their orders. She waited for the woman to serve the table to finish. "And that should be all that matters, right?"

That arrival had been one of the more dramatic things that happened to the flame knight in the City. It was so long ago... she wouldn't have drawn the lines together like that. Discerning that Umi and Fuu were from different times had been difficult. They acted so much like the ones in her time! If it hadn't been for Eagle's quest for access to the pillar room, she wondered if they ever would have discovered this.
"Not a bit!" Hikaru grinned, replying to Fuu's question. Umi's not for us gave Hikaru some pause. That's right. In their time.. didn't Eagle change for the better in the end? Or something like that? What would this mean for the Eagle from her time? The arrival of the crepes prompted her to look down at the table. It almost got Eagle off her mind, until she remembered his love of sweet things. Suddenly she didn't feel as hungry.
"We should compare notes..." Hikaru mouthed, not really aware of how loudly or softly she stated it. "That way we'll be aware of the differences in our times and we won't be surprised if something in our memories differ. Plus it might help us predict what--"
Eagle is going to do next.
