Summary; Tyr and Connell go fishing together and talk about Jowy.
Log;
With the summer drawing to a close, the days to go down to the lake were also dwindling down until it would be too cold to justifiably sit at the dock until sunset. There was still plenty of time before that happened, in Tyr's mind, but if he was going to drag another person along, he might as well do it while there was still a warm breeze across the lake and falling into the water wouldn't be much of a cause for concern. ...Though he hoped Connell knew how to swim.
Partially because it was for the young phonologist and more so because he didn't want them to be disturbed, Tyr rented a boat for that day. And, with all he needed to theoretically catch fish, they set off into the middle of the lake. There were people on the beach enjoying the weather, and a few other people on the lake, but by and large, they were alone out here. At least, it wasn't likely someone would row over to them and interrupt their conversation.
"How do you like it?" Tyr asked as he settled for a spot a small distance from the docks. "It's been a long time since I've been in a boat like this..."

"How do you like it?" Tyr asked as he settled for a spot a small distance from the docks. "It's been a long time since I've been in a boat like this..."

When Tyr had commented about not being out on a boat for a while, Connell replied, "Ah, me too!" he said with an upbeat voice. He shortly pulled himself to sit properly on the boat and watched Tyr carefully. He wondered if the other is also enjoying it so far.
Since weeks back, Connell had already felt the strange aura that Tyr had within his heart. But since Connell didn't know that Jowy had arrived in this world yet, he just thought that perhaps Tyr was still guilty over the slug incident. Though, the musician didn't want Tyr to keep on worrying today if the other just wanted a relaxation or some fun, so he did his best to keep up a nice attitude to help with it.
"I finally get to see you fish!"

He baited the line, giving a quick glance up at Connell as he opened the jar - but of course Connell wouldn't be curious in the way Riou and Meredy were. Right? Connell always seemed normal... That memory and sitting together with a very cheerful Connell almost made him forget why he was out here. But he needed to cast the line out first anyway and find the best time.

"Are earthworms the only bait in fishing?" he decided to ask.

Now to get the rod into position and ready to cast. It doesn't take long to do; Tyr could do this his eyes closed.

But Connell had always wondered why Tyr can't ever catch a fish. He looked so skilled at this, too. Still, he doesn't comment or ask about it. He just remaining with a polite smile as he observed the other's actions.
He remained quiet for now, not wanting to scare a fish that wanted to bite unto Tyr's lure.

Spending time with Katara as he fished had made him more accustomed to having company with him during this quiet time. He didn't say a word as he blankly stared out at the sunlight dancing across the lake. It was a bit different fishing from a boat with the tide softly rocking the boat beneath them, but not distractingly so. He could still think and try to form the words that were on his mind.

It was hard to tell because of Tyr's unreadable face... He tried not to listen to the sound of Tyr's heart right now by distracting himself, listening in to the sound of water around them instead.

There was some anxiety that seemed to raise with the thought of Jowy and Riou together here. It wasn't as though Tyr could - or cared enough - to keep them separated for as long as they remained in the City, but there was always that threat in the back of his mind that the inevitable would happen and, between the two of them at least, what happened in Jowston and Highland would happen here. And if one - or both - of them died here... Even if he didn't care enough to keep them for speaking to one another, seeing either of them die was high on his "don't let this happen" list.
...That was enough thinking over it. He'd been thinking since he first saw Jowy's arrival and then even more so when Riou confronted him. He had to say something, and at least Connell would understand.
"Did you know Jowy appeared here?" Tyr asked all of a sudden, deciding it would probably be the best place to start.

Or something else...?
But when Tyr finally brought the topic out, Connell's eyes widened. Jowy was here? But then again, he did recall seeing Jowy, because of a certain curse a few months ago. Is it that one, perhaps?
"Ah, I did see Jowy... But that was during the visitors curse," he stated clearly. It was months ago and he knew that Jowy left. He saw it with his own eyes.

Tyr shook his head and spoke in a clear, even voice. "He's here again; he showed up a few weeks ago, but hasn't disappeared yet, so..."

But Connell knew something that they didn't. The real result of the war. After all, he is from their future. But because he is, he also carries a heave in exchange. He must not tell them about it. They had to go through those themselves. All he could do is watch them and support them... just as he always done even in the past.
"... I see," was all could Connell reply for now. But his tone was ensuring Tyr that he understands. He was ready to listen to his reason.

He kept his eyes on the bobbing sinker as he slowly continued, "I don't know how I should deal with them... Riou still sees Jowy as his friend, and Jowy... I can't trust someone like him. But still... I don't want either of them to get hurt here when it won't mean anything in the end."
no subject
"Tyr... You also forgave others who wronged you in the past..." Connell replied as he kept his smile softly, recalling the stories he had heard about Tyr. How even though there are people who tried to kill Tyr... But still, he had the heart to forgive them and even allow him in his army to fight together.
"It's the same feeling for Riou... Especially since Jowy had always been important to him. You might not trust Jowy, but Riou does. That's something we can't help... However, should something happen, I'm sure that no matter what... You'll be there for them, won't you?"
Connell moved a hand to Tyr's shoulder and softly encouraged him.
"Just as I'm always here for all of you. Tyr, don't carry the burden all by yourself... I'll be here to share it with you as well. Let's go through this together."

The blinking of the sunlight on the waves was almost blinding.
He fell silent, a mixture of emotions going through him. Connell was a good friend. Even if they were just words, Tyr wanted to believe Connell truly wanted to at least share this trouble with him, not just because it affected both of them. He was too honest just say things.
"We will," Tyr finally said, in a firm tone. "You're right, Connell... It's really not my place to come between them... I don't know or trust Jowy, but Riou does, so..."
So he really shouldn't be concerning himself that much. Nevertheless, his mouth twisted as he admitted, "I want to eliminate the chance that something will happen to them. I don't want to just be there for them if..."
As he trailed off, his voice became harder. Getting to know Connell and meeting so many new friends didn't change the fact that, at times like these, he really wanted to go back to Gregminster and be with Gremio and the others again and not come back unless asked to.

"Yes..." Connell acknowledged Tyr's further word, "You are not blind nor deaf, Tyr. I believe that when it is necessary, you would be able to do something about the two of them to protect them. But until that moment comes... right now, we don't know what are Jowy's intentions. That's why it is hard to determine a decision."
As long as Jowy doesn't plan to bring harm to any of them here in the City, they would have no reason to fight him here.

The entire matter was frustrating. He slowly nodded in response to Connell's words. "Yeah..." For another few moments, he fell silent, wondering if he should say more on the matter.
...But it probably wouldn't get them anywhere for now. It was just talk. He turned towards the other then. "Thanks, Connell." Now to get rid of this topic, he smiled and shifted the rod closed to him without missing a beat. "Do you wanna try?"
no subject
"Oh... Sure!" Connell replied enthusiastically. But he added a question shortly, looking a bit concerned. Still he remained smiling, "Is it really okay?"
no subject
But with the subject change successful, Tyr nodded again. Connell was too cute in his enthusiasm. "Of course. It's easy: All you have to do is hold the rod like I do, and if you feel a tug, you pull the line in."
Which likely isn't something anyone has seen Tyr do.

"Okay... I'll do my best!" he replied, making an encouraging pose with his two hands.
Perhaps that will change this time.
