log; ongoing
When; Tuesday night at the construction site.
Rating; PG maybe.
Characters; Jessica (
turnedyesterday) and Spike (
heart_at_stake)
Summary; Two vampires meet on the night shift. Or re-meet, rather, even if one of them doesn't remember that bit.
Log;
As soon as night fell over the City and the young vampire awakened, Jessica set out to the beach with that particularly irrational sense of purpose that can only be attributed to a curse. She sped along through the torrential downpour, arriving at the site minutes after it became safe for her to do so, and began lending her strength and speed wherever necessary; lifting, carrying, building. She's been busy since the sun went down, first on the ark, and then on a personal project of sorts.
Working on this project is where the night finds her as the hour creeps nearer toward what could technically be called morning. The rain has only gotten heavier, falling in steady sheets, and her hair, darkened with moisture, is flattened against her head and neck. The strands drag heavily over her shoulders as she moves, streams of rainfall dripping off the ends. She doesn't seem to take notice, though, as she nails together the lid of a box.
The box in question may seems lightly macabre to observers; despite the hour, there's enough of a sense of urgency at the site that there are still quite a few, working away on their own tasks. Long, narrow, and short, it quite resembles a simple casket.
The girl is completely absorbed in her project, knowing that there isn't much time left before the remaining few need to board the boat. Leaving without this, however, is not an option. Someone does not do well with tanning.

He notices a girl, picking her out as a vampire, he strolls over. Then he notices the casket. "Kind of a cliche, don't you think?"

Her instinct, of course, is to respond with exactly that sentiment, "Yeah, well, you got a better i--"
The rest of that is lost, however, as she raises her gaze towards the end of it to find herself looking at a familiar face. Cue her interrupting her own snipping for her eyes to widen in unexpected recognition. "Spike?"

"That's the name. I don't think I have yours though."

"Shoot, you don't remember," and she glances off to a side, muttering bitterly, "Figures."
She huffs slightly, reassuming neutrality before she looks back to him, "Jessica."

"Were the others vampires too?"

"Some of 'em. Couple from my world, I think one from yours-- Angel?"
