Characters; Rita, Estelle, Natalia, Emil, Yuri, Flynn, Shing, Katara...and anyone else out hunting down a mad scientist (Tyr, Asch, etc.!)?
Summary; Cursed Rita kidnaps people, tortures people, kills people...but there are those who won't sit by and watch, especially when they're also cursed.
Log; [Within the lab she's set up within the City, Rita observes her newest captured victims. Studying Emil can wait until the next experiment is underway; in the meantime, she has plans for Estelle and Natalia.

The two are restrained in chairs on either side of a table, on which an unconscious subject of around nine years old rests. Calmly and coldly, she explains just what she wants from them.]

It's simple enough. I'll be running a test on this one, and all you have to do is use your healing artes. There shouldn't be any problem with that, should there?

[ this is heartbreaking. it's wrong, it's horrible, terrible, wrong. this isn't something Rita would ordinarily do, so why was she doing it?

a curse?

if so, a bad one. all she knew was that the Rita she was seeing now wasn't her Rita.

Estelle wasn't struggling to get out of the chair, but the look on her face said measures. She averted her gaze to Rita. ]

Why are you doing this?! Rita, this isn't you!

[ she looked back to the child, tears welling up in her eyes. It hurt her to see anyone, especially a child, in such a helpless state ... especially knowing it was her best friend who had put him here to begin with. ]

He's a child ... please, don't hurt him ...

I must agree, Rita- you're cursed! Please fight it! You're much stronger than this.

[Natalia bites her lip. She'd always liked to believe in the good of humanity... and this is just a curse! A strange, awful curse, but a curse nonetheless. She mustn't judge Rita's actions. She must stop them.]

[SOME TIME LATER, EXPERIMENTS UNDERWAY~ Because nobody is gonna disturb her, right, right?

...Except Shing and Katara.]

[Having finally found her lab, Yuri's lost all sense of etiquette and kicks the door down - much like he did when she was pranking their home, only on a whole different level. The Rita then isn't the Rita now - and even though she's cursed (no, because she's cursed), he must stop her with whatever means possible.

If that meant killing her-

-he'll answer that when the situation comes. For now, he steps forward, intent on drawing her attention, calling her forward. She's tough, but so is he. If he can just interrupt all her spells, he'll be okay.]

[ Flynn was expecting you. The eyesore to their plans, as usual. ]

I was expecting you, Yuri.

[ Sword drawn and pointed at you. ]

Always the thorn in our sides, even from back in Terca Lumireis.

You can go on about strength all you like, it's obvious who the weak ones are. And besides...

[She checks the IVs and tubes connecting the child to a blastia core, ensuring everything is in working order.]

His age is exactly the reason he's here.

[And impassively, she activates the blastia formula; the child immediately beings convulsing. Now that it's begun, she turns to her "assistants".]

Now, heal him. Or would you rather watch him die?

Hello...?! Estelle, can you hear me...?

[ she's panicking now. ]

R-Rita, stop it! You're hurting him!

[ the urge to heal him is strong, but would her artes even help him at this point? they may help him stay alive, but they wouldn't stop him from convulsing ... they wouldn't stop him from suffering. if she kept him alive, he would only suffer more.

she was conflicted. ]

[If there's one thing she doesn't tolerate, it's people and their horrendous urge to kill. So when she saw Rita through the Network doing that, she just had to step up. No little miss nice Katara. Rita needs to be taught a lesson whether she likes it or not.

So, armed with the element of water (and probably the whole water system in the City), Katara breaks in after Shing. She's ready and she's properly equipped on immobilizing anyone. Thankfully, it's not a full moon tonight.]

Show yourself, Rita!

[If the sound of breaking glass isn't enough, Rita definitely hears the challenges. What a pain. Can't she finish this uninterrupted?

She eyes Emil, sighs impatiently, and lays down the scalpel she'd been about to use. Might as well clear out these idiots before they can affect her measurements.

She leaves the main lab--and Estelle, Natalia, and Emil--behind, cautiously ascending the stairs. She intends on answering them; not with a reply, but a spell. She just has to get close enough without them realizing, and they'll be out of her hair. If she's gentle enough, they might even be salvageable for use later.]

...see anything on your end?

[Yuri narrows his eyes. So they're working together? That's just great. What's the connection behind all of this? Was it the same curse that hit him back in December? If so- it's a damn good thing Emil didn't have those cores.

He has his own sword at the ready. Even if he always lost to Flynn- even if he'd only ever won once- he had no doubt in his ability to stop them all.

For their sakes.]

Yeah, well I don't like to disappoint.

[He tightens his grip]

You're not gonna step aside even if I ask nicely, are you.

[Coating one arm with water, she looks at the direction of the stairs. Definitely, and with no doubt, someone's coming. And it has to be Rita.]

She's coming. Get ready.

I'm afraid knights don't have to listen to criminals.

[ Angelic smile. ]

It's high time I paid you back for Alexei.

[ The smile is wiped from his face. He's serious. The curse has warped Flynn's memories; he remembers working under Alexei, having been completely brainwashed by the charismatic leader into a more cynical view of the world, and tolerating Yuri and Brave Vesperia's presence. After all, death was futile in this place. ]

This is- this is horrible!

[She covers her face for a moment, so torn. Emil looks like he's in pain- she must heal him! But to go along with these horrible, cruel commands...

...She holds out her hands, expression incredibly displeased and biting.]

Estellise-

[She addresses her fellow healing princess]

You understand, I hope.

[She mutters under her breath- Cure!]

[For idiots, they have good instincts. Abandoning caution, she prepares her favourite spell-]

Come forth, o avaricious netherworld...

[She ascends to the top of the stairs, hugging the wall for cover, and completes the spell for the deadly, crushing sphere, targeting it towards Shing.]

[Yuri doesn't make the first move. He has to see just how good Flynn is- will it be like when he was slugged and much less in touch with his instincts?]

I can't guarantee you'll get very far.

[ Flynn doesn't hesitate, he goes straight at Yuri. Flynn, as he is now, isn't as knowledgeable as he was of Yuri's movesets and techniques, but he's good. After all, he had become one of Alexei's most reliable subordinates. ]

We'll see about that.

Rita...! Stop this at once--!

[Sweet mother of god, where did that come from?! Okay, calm down, Katara. So what if you haven't seen that kind of ability yet? That doesn't necessarily mean you can't stop it.

She notices that blood, though, Shing and if they ever get a down time, she plans to heal it. However, she has to move quick. Throwing the water around her at Rita, she draws out more water from her bottle. What's amazing with water is that even if she misses or it gets dodged, she can just pull the same drops again and attack. Even if it's in any state.]

You're not going to hurt any more people!

[In direct contrast, Rita's expression is one of smug satisfaction. This is exactly what she wanted--what she knew she would get, one way or another.]

Perfect. Just keep going like that...Simple enough, isn't it?

[She takes some readings from the blastia core, nods to herself, then activates the next part of the formula. The child spasms more violently then before, coughing spittle and blood. But with the same smug smile, Rita pointedly stares at the princesses. They know what they should be doing.]

[Looks like she's going to have to waste more time on these animals and their ridiculous ideas of justice and morals. Such things have no importance.

She's still confident she can take them down, though. Katara's fighting style is unfamiliar, so she favours dodging the water attack and countering Shing--he hits hard, harder than she expects, and she's almost thrown off-balance. But absorbs the brunt of the attack with her armoured blastia arm, then sweeps out with her bladed whip.]

Try all you want, but you'll be next on that table!
