{ log: closed ; ongoing } pond flirting with pond. true love at last.
When; Tuesday, May 17th
Rating; PG-13 for possible Pond²-flirtatiousness?
Characters; [Bad username or site: waitsforever title= @ livejournal.com] & [Bad username or site: waitedforyears title= @ livejournal.com]
Summary; Team TARDIS and their clones.
Log;
Amy takes Rory's hand halfway to the store. It's an almost unconscious gesture; the events of last night have left her confused and a little shaken, not that she'd admit to that. Why are there copies, clones of everyone and what were they doing with the clock, why were they doing it. And what did the message mean that they'd all heard?
Amy's trying to sort through that in her mind, but she stops dead in her tracks when she sees long legs, a mini-skirt she knows all too well, and familiar red jumper. Eyes travelling up confirm her first thought.
Her clone is standing across the street, next to a copy of Rory.

He's a little more inside his head than Amy, so he walks a bit and pulls back before he realises Amy has stopped.
And what...she's...looking at. Oh. He squeezes Amy's hand for a bit of reassurance, though he's not certain who for.

Amyclone saunters over the street and stops in front of Amy, hips canted and a lazy smile on her lips. It's easier to grin back and give herself - Amyclone - a slow once-over, than it is to actually make sense of this, to actually deal with this situation, so Amy does just that.
"Hi," they both say at the same time.

His second thought, helplessly, is much much lewder and to the point and oh PLEASE let this be another one of the good curses.
He's trying not to actively gape when thought number three occurs to him: the clone of himself. With a little bit difficulty, he looks away from Amy and Amyclone and back at Roryclone, who is still standing across the street and has a look of what is very nearly despair on his face. Possibly not much like him, then--come on, mate, TWO AMYS--but maybe it's something else, and he can't help but notice how he's holding Amy's hand, while Amyclone barely noticed the clone of him. He does a bit of trying to catch eye contact with Roryclone (which is hard, the man seems to be lost staring into middle space), and then he manages. Which results in a series of slight expressions and head gestures, trying to get the guy to come over, which eventually works, though Roryclone is practically dragging his feet. Odd.

Amy raises an eyebrow. Amyclone grins. "I'm you," she says and the expression is so familiar, Amy almost expects her to say "from the future" like her other self did when she last met herself - and wow. How many people can think that with a straight face?
"I can see that," Amy replies and hey, she knows from her last encounter that yes, her legs are really that long, but it still looks... good. Her clone is a little worse for wear, though, with a few holes in the jumper and scrapes on her legs, but... "Scruffy suits me," Amy says and means it.
Amyclone nods. "Oh yeah." But then she leans in and hisses, "What are you doing with him?" with a glance towards Rory and Amy is dumbfounded, because it's Rory and he's her husband and he's always been there and why wouldn't she be with him?

Who, speaking of, has finally reached them and is kind of just...staring at the Amys. Rory says "Hey," at him, in greeting, and Roryclone looks at him, and raises his hand slightly and opens his mouth, glancing back and forth between Rory and the Amys before swallowing and closing his mouth again. Now, come on, he's not THAT bad, is he? Maybe he's frightened of Amyclone, which could actually be fair. Rory's getting increasingly unsettled in regards to Amyclone. Probably not a nice curse after all. Not that he'd say no if, say, he were invited to watch. But unsettled, right.
'What are you doing with him?' gets a confused frown out of Rory and Roryclone's shoulders slump.
"I'm..." says Rory, and then gets a little stuck. Does Amyclone count as Amy? No, probably not, she just asked, so it's proper Amy only. "...her husband."

Amy shakes her head slightly and frowns, her hand squeezing Rory's briefly. This is weird.
"Why?" This is her clone. She wants to understand what's going on, at least.
no subject
"Because I love Amy and I want to spend the rest of my life with her." It's weird saying this to...Amy but the clone isn't Amy. Can't be. Amy loves him and chose to be with him too. He's taking a certain amount of comfort from Amy's hand in his, cos this is weird.

Amy can't help but stare, but slowly, realisation dawns. She remembers those thoughts. Not that she ever said them out loud, but... The Doctor left. Even before that, her parents left. It wasn't that difficult to believe that in the end, Rory would leave as well.
"You think I should leave him." Before he can leave. Before anyone else can hurt her. Amyclone nods, eyes almost frantic in a way that Amy isn't used to seeing on her own face.
Slowly, Amy lets go of Rory's hand.
no subject
"Amy..." he says. "Of course I'm staying. I've promised." He smiles briefly, a nervous smile, quick and slightly sad. "Four times."
no subject
Amyclone's fears make sense to Amy. Everyone's left, haven't they. If there's one thing Amy understands, it's the need to protect yourself from the way it hurts. And it's easier to leave someone than to be left behind. At least then it's your own doing, your own choice...
Amy takes a step towards her clone.
But Rory. Rory's always been there. Rory's travelled with her and the Doctor. Rory's waited 2000 years for her, always by her side even though she doesn't remember, wasn't aware of the time passing. It's Rory.
And in the end, the Doctor came back, too, didn't he?
Before she knows what she's doing, Amy's slapped her clone. "Don't be so daft."
no subject
he himself is looking hesitant now, ready to act if necessary.
no subject
"Yeah, it is. It's Rory. And the Doctor came back, too." Which is really what it boils down to, isn't it? The Doctor came back and Rory never left in the first place. And yeah, it's scary as hell and there's times Amy can't shake the thought that they'll leave her, in the end everyone does, but they haven't, have they? And maybe they won't.
But now, looking at her clone, it's not as difficult to argue the point as it is when she's the only one awake sometimes, or when there's no one around.
"You're just being a coward." Not believing in them, that's the easy way out.
no subject
"Hey," he says quietly, and Roryclone doesn't notice he's there until Rory reaches out and prods him gently in the upper arm. Upon which his clone blinks, tenses, and turns to look at him. "Anything you feel the need to get off your chest? Tell me I'm a crap person or something?" His clone glances nervously between him, and the Amys, opens his mouth slightly, closes it again, and stays silent. That...is not very helpful.
no subject
Amy shakes her head. "Oh no you don't. They won't leave me, certainly not for the reasons you think." Rory's died and technically that means he has left, might leave her again, but he can hardly help that.
No. Amy trusts him.
And with that, her clone just disappears.
no subject
Rory pokes him again, and his clone says "Ow" and rubs his arm. Alright, he can talk. "What do we do about you?" Rory asks. "Or...do you know what the clock's about?" His clone gives him a wide-eyed look like a deer caught in headlights. Bugger this. He turns to Amy, instead.
"Thank you." That first. A pause. And then, "Should we just go to the shop, now?"
no subject
"Where did she go?" she mutters, but then shrugs and looks back at Rory. Well, at the Rorys (Rories, Rorys, why is she thinking about how to refer to two of her boyfriend? Right, 'cause it might come in handy. Unlikely, with the way Roryclone is shifting, and unlikely with what happened with her own clone, but still).
"Yeah, let's go."
no subject
"Feel free to join us...?" he says for the benefit of his clone. Might make him look less mopey. Hopefully. Clone nods slightly and follows along slightly behind them as they walk.
"So...what was that about?"
no subject
So she shrugs. "I've no idea."
But she does take his hand again.
no subject
Of course, that would mean his clone would have to be confrontable. He thinks about this.
"Amy...if you don't mind...will you take his hand as well? You don't have to, it's just an idea."
no subject
At his request, she tilts her head to study Roryclone for a moment. He's so... quiet. She's seen Rory quiet, of course, but not like this. And it's still Rory, isn't it? Somehow? What harm can holding hands with two of them do? (It doesn't help that her mind jumps to different things she could be doing with two of Rory, much less innocent things... Her husband is not the only one with thoughts in that direction, of course not.) So she holds out her hand to Roryclone and gives him a hopefully encouraging smile. "Well, c'mon then."
no subject
no subject
"Right." She turns to Roryclone, her encouraging smile still firmly in place (she hopes it doesn't make her look like too much of a lunatic). "We're off to the shops. Come along, will you."
no subject
"Good man," says Rory, relieved that they've actually got him talking...sort of. That's the first step. He's not entirely certain what the second step is, but he's sure it'll come to him. Or Amy. At the very least, he now has someone else to fob carrying groceries off onto.
