Summary; Kais wishes to find non-combat uses for his technology in the City; Guy and Rita agree to take a look. They may possibly just want to take it apart.
Log;

Once Rita confirmed that this Kais guy was on his way, she sent Guy a message telling him to come too if he wanted in on their little meeting. If there was one fascinating thing about the City, it was the foreign technology she could potentially access--not all of it was all that interesting to her, but maybe she'd find something to occupy her mind for a little while. And she did agree, anyway.

As promised, she waited around for the other two to show up.

It didn't take him long at all, as promised. Doing the only thing he had thought of over the past few days, Kais had mapped out the city and uploaded it into his armor. Once the destination was input, a blue square appeared over where his end destination was on his Heads Up Display and arrows pointed him around. His gun was disconnected from his suit, leaving the display without its normal crosshairs and feeling empty. Steadily, his hoofs clopped on the ground until he reached sand.

The sand was a welcome feeling as his home planet was almost entirely a desert and he had not been there in a while. An indicator began to blink and he raised his eyes, viewing his destination. He had to...knock on the door. The information was drawn from his subconscious, all being imprinted into his mind at a young age. His armored fingers reached up tentatively and rapped on the door.

Guy was the last to arrive, a bag of food slung over his arm as he approached the house and the man in front of it. His smile widened to a friendly grin as he stepped closer, offering the Tau a cheerful wave.

"Hey Kais." Normally he'd be all for waiting on the porch for politeness's sake, but Rita had already made it clear that he should just come right in, so when he joined the alien at the door he simply opened it and stepped inside.

"Come on in--Rita's study is that way. I'll be right there." Guy pointed down the hall and swung his bag down so he could reach into it, taking out a container of food to leave in the kitchen for the rest of the household--sweets for Yuri and some extra food from the restaurant for Estelle and Flynn. And the other container of food he had with him was coming along for the three of them. Rice balls and dango--not the healthiest snacks Guy could have brought, but they were easy finger food, and if the session lasted as long as he thought it might, the refreshments would be needed.

Kais raised four fingers in response to Guy and was surprised when he just walked in. The human must have been close to Rita if such a thing was acceptable without the required rituals. He followed Guy into the house, nonetheless, not seeing any point in waiting at the door for someone to come.

"Greetings." He raised his fingers in response again and then turned his head to the floor. The red light on the helmet blinked a few times, marking out the small pitfalls but that wasn't what caught his eye. It was the human architecture that was so blocky and angular. Even the wood was cut into long rectangles. It would take some getting used to considering it was everywhere.

Stepping into the study himself, he pressed a couple buttons on his gauntlet and removed his helmet, blinking a little under the sudden exposure to other spectrums of light. Wanting to be prepared, he hit another button and a few servos in his armor whined as connections detached. He reached behind his back at the waist and pulled off his now loose backpack since most of what he needed to show was in there.

Guy joined the two quickly enough, stepping around Kais and the mess and somehow avoiding the pitfalls in the floor as well. In the relatively short time he'd been here, he'd become rather familiar with Rita's workspace. Eventually he'd have to stop borrowing her study--but that was eventually. Right now there was that excitement that came with the prospect of new technology and the exciting thrill of discovery!

He hasn't lost sight of their main goal, of course, which was to help Kais find some non-combat applications for his skills and tech, but Guy couldn't help it if he was a little excited all the same, and not really for altruistic reasons.

"I guess the first question is what power source does your equipment run on?" A basic question, but considering the diversity even in the technology based on electricity verses things like fontech or blastia, it was important to know. Power sources could always be adapted or course.

"They use small but efficient energy cells. Charging them is as simple as connecting them to an electrical source and allowing them to absorb the energy. One energy pack can fire my rifle thirty-two times or power my helmet and powered potions of the armor for five days."

He unslings the rifle from his back and ejects the pack out of the bottom of the shoulder butt. He offers the hand sized, square object over.

"Humans use something less efficient but far easier to charge and mantain. There are stories of simply being able to throw a human powerpack into a fire and it will charge from the heat energy. Of course, it is far less powerful and unable to fire my rifle even once."

Guy let Rita take the power cell, moving to pick up a notebook and pen as he sat at her work table.

"Go ahead and sit, Kais." He offered, giving the man another friendly smile. "If it's an electrical power source we already have a good base to work with. Would you tell us about what your armor can do? We already had some ideas for beneficial applications of the technology, but they're only theoretical, we'd need a better look and idea of how it works."

He glanced at Rita to see if she had anything to add or questions for Kais. They had a lot of ground to cover.

"And did you have any other ideas about what you might want to do with yourself?"

Kaid dropped to one knee, his biology making this easier than sitting. "The armor is simply armor. Where it covers," he indicated to the obvious places; knees, upper legs, the body, and his shoulder, "is protected from high impact and laser blasts fairly adequately. Rockets will not penetrate the armor as long as the rocket does not explode. The helmet and gauntlet is where most of the powered is required. The helmet can magnify things, tell me where my weapons are aimed and how many shots I have left, locate and lead me to objectives, view in the blacklight spectrum, and locate and measure energy sources. On the gauntlet is the controls for the shield and gun drones I have. Also is the comm unit." He points at the right side of his head, where the antenna was still attached over where his ear would be.

He paused for a moment and glanced down at his belt. "I keep thirteen packs for my weapons and one spare for my armor for emergency situations."

"Could the technology be modified for other uses? Given the right tools and materials, constructing something that has similar functions to your helmet should be possible--but we could change it's programming to be less militaristic."

Guy was lost in thought a moment, considering the security applications of such technology. "Rita, do you think we can reproduce the batteries? We probably wouldn't even need them at that high an output, since they wouldn't power weapons."

Kais decides to leave the tech stuff to the tech people. If they need help with specifics, they'll ask him questions. In the meantime, he starts unloading items out of his backpack, setting aside his shorter pulse carbine. Twelve silver balls come out along with four objects the shape of large plates, two of them sporting weapons underneath. Four other cylinders come out, two of them green and two of them red but they're clearly marked with a cross, an almost universal sign for first aid.
