When; Morning, July 17th
Rating; G?
Characters; Guy Cecil and anyone in the household who wants to have a thread. Or anyone who wants to crash breakfast I guess.
Summary; Guy made a trade with the deities, the first real day of his loss is bound to be a bit interesting. Of course lies are the best way to cover up sudden attacks of extreme clumsiness.
Log; It was really strange, lacking depth perception. More disorienting than Guy had expected--it kind of crept up on you. Yesterday evening it'd been weird, given him a headache, he'd gone to bed early, actually ended up stumbling a few times on the way home, on the stairs, but he'd been alone and managed to navigate carefully. This morning he was going to have to act like he was fine, though he had an excuse prepared. Having such a large blind spot was disconcerting him as well. During his morning ritual of shower and dressing and all of that he kept raising his hand to touch his left eye--he'd ended up poking it a few times.
But just... Not having sight in one eye was going to be weird for a while. Three months. He kept having to remind himself months were so short here, it wouldn't seem that long.
The trick would be to get through it without being noticed, and that meant lying (something he was good at) and evading (something he was better at). The last would be acting, and if he could sell it, he'd be home free. Convincing Luke and Florian of course wouldn't be hard, they'd believe anything he told them. And Asch... Probably would too. Shing an Anise... Well. The trick was being casual, and Guy was good at that. Hell most of them would probably be distracted by the weekend's current curse, and he'd be left alone about it.
So, there he was making breakfast, a gauze pad taped over his left eye--purely for show. His eye looked fine, underneath it, but it'd lend some credence to the story he planned to tell. Something lame and innocuous enough that as soon as he presented it, he expected it to be dismissed as uninteresting. And it would explain his clumsiness for a few days. With any luck he'd master his balance enough to hide it better after that, and the headache that had persisted since last night would fade, and the three months would fly by. And with luck he wouldn't have to fight seriously until he had his full vision back. And while he was relying on luck, maybe a brand new fon machine would fall into his lap...
Too busy musing, he misjudged the distance to the counter, dropping the bowl of pancake batter and shattering it on the kitchen floor. "...Shoot!" He was going to have to remember to focus more on his physical location in relation to everything.
