Karkat still hadn't come out of his respite block, and it had been a whole entire day since Sollux's ill-advised trek out to the docks the day before. He was still smarting from that adventure, but he couldn't ignore Karkat.

There had to be something really wrong.

Plus he was getting hungry, and neither he nor Terezi could cook.

He tottered over to Karkat's door and pounded on it, then tried the knob. "KK?"

Karkat was still locked up in his respiteblock. The last few days he spent nursing his pride as well as his injuries from his little... Session. One of the only true satisfaction that Karkat got from his black fling with the troll version of Dave Strider was the fact that he had hurt the grubfucker as much as Strider wounded him. There were still bandages on his wrists from the claws. His lip was still a bit split. Bruises marred his face as well. While everything was healing up all right, Karkat was still a bit paranoid about going out. Sure, he shouldn't be afraid of culling. Around Terezi and Sollux, he wasn't. Really, he wasn't at all. It merely was a conditioned response.

He shot a look at the door, knowing who it was. Karkat growled, every inch of his being on the defensive. "What?"

"Let me in, athhwipe," Sollux said, almost surprised that Karkat had responded at all. "You've been in here for at leatht two dayth, which meanth it'th time for a feelingth jam, whether you like it or not."

Sollux didn't realize that he also sported visible injuries from his adventure the day before. His hands had scrapes from being rubbed against rock and he had another visible scrape on one cheek. They stung a bit, but the pain was negligible, so he didn't realize they were visible.

"I don't need one of your wriggling feelings jams, Captor. I'm fucking fine, than you very goddamn much!" he shouted from the other side of the door.

"You are not fine," Sollux snarled through the door. "Bethideth, I need a feelings jam."

There was a pause. Silence. Goddamn it, Captor. That was a horrible, horrible button to press. Karkat felt like just screaming at the other troll to get the fuck away from his door. Go rant about his feelings to someone else for a change. Yet, he wouldn't allow himself to do that much, even if every bit of the Cancer told him to do as much.

Karkat got up, probably heard through the flimsy wood. He shuffled over to the door... And promptly sat down. "So fucking talk already."

He was damn determined not to leave his respiteblock.

Sollux hesitated. Karkat sure was determined. But he didn't really want to talk about what happened yesterday if he could avoid it.

He splayed his fingers against the door. It was pretty flimsy. Maybe he could break it down with his powers.

"I don't think we should jam with a door between uth. What'th going on, kk? It'th not like I can even thee whatever you're trying to hide."

He reached out with his powers and wrenched at the doorknob, and heard a satisfying cracking sound deep in the wood. Maybe with a few more pulls...

The sound of cracking wood got his attention. Forget everything that Sollux said. Besides, that fucker could probably smell it by now anyway! Seeing meant nothing to blind trolls!

Still, he was jumping away from the door. "What the fuck, man!?"

Sollux left the doorknob alone for the moment. "Let me in, pleathe, or I'm going to keep going at it until I get a migraine or get inthide, whichever cometh firtht," he said in a calm, even tone.

So many feelings. Part of Karkat just wanted to walk straight to his bed thing. Fine. Let Sollux break it and get a migraine from being stupid. It would be his own goddamn fault. Yet the idiot was doing so out of concern for him in the end. Like a good moirail would. That made Karkat feel horrible. Guilty.

He sighed and stood. With a click, he unlocked the door. Karkat was scowling, for sure. Then he decided to try to retreat to his corner before a good whiff was taken of him or worse.

Sollux was almost shocked that Karkat let him in so easily. He opened the door, glad he hadn't had to break it down. He could already feel a bit of a pulsing behind his eye sockets that told him he had overused his powers over the last 48 hours.

He opened the door and stepped inside, then closed it again, sniffing to get his bearings.

"Are you bleeding?" he asked with even more concern than usual. The room stank of cherry.

"Not at the moment," he huffed. It would be stupid to say that Sollux's nose was imagining scents.

Karkat was good at covering his tracks, usually. The area in front of the couch had been scrubbed profusely until every trace of blood had been wiping clean. Bleach. Everything to ensure that no one would ever be able to know that something of the black romantic nature transpired there. He wanted to avoid people worrying over him. Wanted to avoid any evidence.

However, in his mad rush to clean the floor and tend to his wounds... Karkat sort of trapped himself in his room. By the time the bleeding had stopped, he was left with a ruined shirt and bandages that needed tossed. The thing meant was, he would have had to leave his room to dispose of those things and Karkat wasn't really willing to take that risk. Besides all of the trauma of being a bleeding mess, he was still emotionally broken by knowing he was in delicious hate with Dave grubfucking Strider.

And the pain in knowing that the douchebag won't return it now.

Sollux sighed and rubbed his cheek ruefully, where the scrape was, then shuffled across the room towards Karkat.

"Fucking hell," he said. "I should have known. Why are you hiding in here, though, kk? You've been in here thinthe ck wath done with you, haven't you? But why?"

He had a few guesses - he'd told Dave not to break Karkat's heart - but he didn't know the details. He needed to know, before he went to possibly punch Dave a little. After all, while he liked Dave a lot, Karkat was still Sollux's priority.

Karkat was his moirail, while Dave was only a potential, and confusing, love interest.

"We're not here to talk about me, dipshit," he huffed. "This is about you, isn't it?"

Topic change. Karkat eyed the scrapes. He didn't want to assume that Sollux hadn't taken his advice, but...

"Nope, we're here to talk about you, and then if you behave, we can talk about me," Sollux said, plunking himself down on the floor next to Karkat. "Tho thpill. What happened with Dave?"

"Who said anything happened with him? I sure as fuck did not utter a single word about needing any sort of talks concerning Dave fucking Strider, Sollux Captor. Stop being a deceptive little human slippery furbeast and start squealing since you did the session and not me," Karkat hissed, scooting further away from that stupid nose.

Sollux scowled, offended. "I know for a fact thomething happened with him, because I was thitting in my room about ten feet away, lithtening to the whole damn thing!" He was not interested in squealing.

He huffed, embarrassed. Oh god, Karkat forgot that Captor was present. Shit. Oh shit, oh shit. "Then you already know and thus there's still nothing to fucking talk about here. Move on."

Sollux scooted over closer to Karkat. "I get it, okay? You had pretty damn amathing magical hate-makeoutth, and now you feel bad about it." Hoo boy did he ever get it. Yup. "But that doethn't ekthplain why you're hiding in here."

"I don't feel bad about it!" Karkat protested. He didn't, not really. If he were able to do it again, he would jump at it. What the real issue was... Well it was Dave. Dave stupid Strider and his fucked up humanity getting in the way. Karkat finally had a taste of what a good kismesis should be and he couldn't have it.

Life was unfair.

Slowly, Sollux reached out to try to wrap his arms around Karkat. "Sure you do, becauthe ck claimth he doethn't underthtand kithmethitude, tho now that he'th human again, it'th all different." Of course he understood this. He had the same problem with pitying Dave. "Have you talked to him thinthe thith happened?"

This time, Karkat allowed the embrace. Fuck, he was on the verge of crying. "No. Like I could fucking show my face..."

Sollux could sense the impending tears and he tightened his grip, hugging him securely. He nuzzled into Karkat's hair a little.

"You haven't done anything wrong," he said firmly. "I'll talk to him, if you want? Maybe now that he'th ekthperienthed it, he can underthtand it better. It sure theemed like he wath enjoying it ath much ath you were."

"Well obviously since he jump me," the Cancer huffed with a slight sniff. He was the biggest crybaby. It was him. Karkat didn't even mind that Captor was nuzzling. The fact his moirail was there was actually a comforting thing. Why hadn't he thought to have one before?

Then his blood ran cold as he also registered. "Oh god. No. Don't talk to him. It's fucking embarrassing enough to even think about going around with all these bite and claw marks. I don't think I could even deal with all this shit right now and also ruin your chances, I guess."

"Huh?" Sollux blinked in confusion. He stroked Karkat's back, not minding if Karkat's tears soaked into his shirt. It felt pretty good, actually, to be able to comfort him when he really needed it.

"What do you mean? Why would talking to him ruin my chantheth?" he asked in confusion.

"Because, fuckass," he sniffed, going to rub his nose on his sleeve. "You'll go to talk to him and he's not going to be fucking interested. Chances are you might get upset and BAM. That's the end of that, isn't it?"
