Log;

Alessa approached the Carousel cautiously. She knew Walter had taken residency there and was fiercely protective of it, believing it to be his mother. She glanced around, making sure he was not around before getting closer, but still keeping her distance. Every nerve was alert, it seemed, and if he tried anything, she would get Valerie to safety first and then take care of Walter herself.

She was a bit nervous about meeting Valerie. She could tell by the way people (namely V and Evey) approached her, she was one to be respected, and she could sense the woman's goodness, pouring forth like a waterfall. She was surprised to know that Valerie wasn't a goddess or even an angel, but a person. She had met very few people like her in her lifetime, and the yearning to be friends with her or at least on pleasant terms, was overwhelming. She was tired of the darkness, and wanted to be filled with light.

Alessa's heart skipped a beat as she saw a auburn-haired woman approach her from across the square. She swallowed, praying to Xulchibara to have mercy and let this kind woman not see her as a monster. 'Valerie...?' Alessa called out, waving an arm. 'Over here.'

It had taken at least an hour for Valerie to calm from the shock of every faucet in her apartment-- along with all the other liquids in the fridge-- bleeding liquid crimson. While she was not exactly squeamish about blood, the sight and smell of so much of it brought memories of pain and torture back in waves. Even now a fine tremble stirred in her stomach. But out here in the sunlight (and again she thanked Heaven it wasn't raining), she was able to relax just that slightest bit further.

In an effort to cheer herself up, the lady had picked out the floral patterned sundress she had purchased the other day. Shaded white and yellow, it was much like one Ruth had given her so many years ago, and the need to buy it had been nearly overwhelming. Quite honestly, she couldn't think of a better time to wear it for the first time.

One hand lifted, pressing heavy curls behind an ear as jade eyes scanned the square surrounding the carousel. A smile lit pink lips, gentle and pleased as her gaze fell on the fair-skinned girl. The fingers in her hair lifted to return the wave.

"Alessa," She greeted warmly, both hands extending as though to catch Alessa's between them as she drew close.

"Yes... I've been told it isn't safe," The woman replied gently, curling her hand into Alessa's as the girl led her away from the carousel. Even so, green eyes glanced back to the mysterious merry-go-round, wondering why such a quaint looking device seemed to stir so much fear into the people of the city. Even later, when they were at what Alessa seemed to deign as a safe distance and she explained the supposed cause of her quick departure-- Valerie didn't believe it to be the entire story. Nevertheless, when Alessa's grip loosened, the jade-eyed lady conteracted by squeezing her hand lightly, reluctant to let go.

Strange, how such a simple thing as holding someone's hand seemed so important to her. But she had been so long the receiving end of cruel touches that this innocent thing felt a far large deal then it truly was.

"I understand," She soothed, smiling, eyes wandering around this new area. Valerie was still having trouble finding her way around. It had been rather by luck that she stumbled upon the Opera House in the first place. From this location, she was unsure of which direction to go.

"I must say, I'm unfamiliar with the layout of this City," She confessed her thoughts, "I hope you know the way to the Opera House."
