Summary; Deidara and Greed have a sparring match.
Log;

Greed stood by the fountain, awaiting the start of the match. He found himself wishing he had at least tried to figure out the other man's abilities. Damned ninjas were always pulling crazy tricks in a fight.

"So pretty boy, you ready?"

He assumed a defensive stance and awaited the first attack. There was no way this would end as weakly as the fight with Orochimaru.

Deidara smiled, moving back, standing almost nonchalantly as he regarded the other man. He slid a hand into the bag hanging from his side, bringing out a small lump of clay, holding it in his palm, almost lovingly, bringing his gaze to it for a moment, before returning it to the other man.

"Whenever you are, un."

His voice was playful, and laced with amusement, as his eyes once again returned to the lump of clay, watching with delight as a tongue came from the center of his palm, slipping it down into his hand, and out of view.

"Guess I'll bring it to you, then. Don't hold back! Show me everything!"

Greed sped straight for Deidara, cracking his knuckles before unleashing a straight jab for his midsection.

"Let's test that ninja speed of yours, kid!" Greed yelled, "And stop callin' me 'un'!"

Deidara slid to the right, feeling the fist slide by past his coat, grazing the side of his midsection, a small bit of pain blossoming from the spot. Deidara grinned at this, his expression becoming wild.

"This will be a good fight, un. I can already tell!"

He held up his hand, the clay lump returning to the fore, as he slid fully around on the ball of his left foot, slamming his other hand ontop of the clay, fastidiously molding it into a tiny shape--a small bird. Retracting his hand away from the bird, he folded his fingers into a seal, and the bird took flight, flapping over the battlefield.

Greed felt the younger man slip by him and skidded to a halt a few feet away. He whirled around and shouted to him.

"What the hell is with all the 'un's? You have a speech impediment or something?"

He ran at Deidara again, jumping into the air just in time to see the bird fly by his head.

"What the hell...?" he thought to himself.

He brought his attention back to his opponent and whipped his left leg around into a roundhouse. He aimed for Deidara's head, spinning like a top.

"I don't know what you're up to, but it takes more than birds to stop me!"

Deidara grinned with a furvor that could only be reserved for a psychopath, ducking against the roundhouse, feeling the wind from the blow graze over his head, his hair moving within its sway. He slid back, bringing the bird toward Greed, with a small laugh, looking up at him.

"I speak the way I speak, un."

His grin became even more painted with insanity if that was possible, as he allowed the bird to land on the other man's shoulder, twittering about, and hopping. Deidara's voice leaked from his lips, with the tone of a child, asking about the inner workings of the universe.

"Now, I must ask you..do you like art, un?"

Greed hit the ground and quickly popped back up in front of him. He was about to fire off an uppercut when he noticed the small bird on his shoulder. He stopped dead, distracted by whole bizarre nature of his situation.

"Eh? What's this now? Art? I guess so. Usually if it has nude broads in it."

He poked at the small, clay creature.

"Is...Is this your attack?" he snickered, still prodding at the bird, "I guess some of you guys have pretty useless techniques, eh?"

Deidara watched him with an unwavering interest, eyes glittering, as his hands once again folded into a seal.

"Then, I hope you will appreciate this, un."

His lips moved silently, something mouthed, but unable to be understood.

Kai!

All at once the little bird's head turned upward, as it's body was engulfed in a bright, hot flash. A bang sounded off, echoing against the fountain, and all other surfaces near it.
Deidara smiled. He hadn't made this one too powerful, after all, he didn't want the game to end so quickly. Just a small example of art. He waited paitiently for his adversary to regain his senses, slipping another bit of clay into the waiting mouth upon his hand.

"Appreciate wha--?"

Greed couldn't finish his sentence, as the shockwave had blown him off his feet before he had the chance to. He sailed backwards, bashing his head against the fountain and chipping a large piece of the edge.

"What...the hell..?!" he burbled, water pouring through the cracks and over his head and face.

He stood and cracked his neck a few times, then shook the water off. He calmly walked toward Deidara, smiling slightly.

"Pretty nice trick, pal. I give ya' kudos on that."

He suddenly slammed both hands through the concrete beneath them and ripped up a large slab.

"Time to show you some of my abilities, human."

He hurled the massive slab through the air, straight at the blond boy's head.

Deidara grinned, smiling at his handiwork, waving a hand to the other man, back turned.

"I am glad you appreciated my art, un!"

With this, he turned around, and his eyes widened as the shadow of what was flying toward him became bigger and bigger, engulfing his vision. Not having too much of time to spare in running, he placed his hands up, making a defense.

Greed ran after the block during it's flight, jumping up behind it as it came down. He would base his next move on what happened to the boulder.

"If he can shatter it, I just move straight through to him, if he moves, I just launch off the slab and tackle, and if he's strong enough to catch it, I'll just swing in from on top!" he thought to himself.

He touched down on the boulder just as it was about to hit.

The boulder smahed down against the street, making a loud crash, sending shockwaves outward from it. It looked as though the boy had been smashed underneath it's weight, leaving nothing left.

A tiny spider skittered across the ground, coming toward the resting boulder, tentatively poking at it with its two front legs.

Greed upon feeling ground and seeing nothing around himself, Greed assumed the worst. The boy must have been crushed!

"Oh shit! I didn't mean to kill him!" was the only thought in his mind, "I was just playin' around!"

He jumped off the slab, pulling the concrete up with one arm and looking under it.

"Kid! Kid! Say somethin'!"

A small laugh emitted from behind him, as a form crouched upon the top of the fountain. Deidara was perched on the watery statue's apex, hands once again formed in that seal. He grinned, eyes alight with amusement. He hadn't had this much fun in a long time.

I like this guy, un. He's a good opponent.

The spider crawled up into view on the rubble, as Deidara once again mouthed the seal. The spider disappeared in a blast, much like the bird, sending stone all over the place. Deidara waited for the response, eyes still alight with excitement.
(92329 PM) Shrapnel peppered Greed's entire body, sending him to his hands and knees, bleeding from most of his body.

"That...kinda'...hurt..." he managed to get out.

He shakily rose to his feet and picked up his now broken glasses, sneering at them and tossing them aside. He stumbled up to the fountain and looked up at Deidara.

"But...there's just...one...little...problem..." he smiled.

Deidara cocked his head to the side. This man was artistic, he mused, and very interesting. He smiled down at him, his expression a reflection of the one he was recieving.

"What is that, un?" He laughed, anticipation staining the edges of his voice. He wanted to see more of what this man could do.

He pulled himself up on his toes, ready to leap at a moment's notice.

Greed snorted once, spitting out some blood, then stretched out as his body mended itself in seconds. The wounds were soon completely gone. He wiped some excess blood from his body and cracked his bones a bit.

"I regenerate, amigo. You can't kill me with simple means."

He jumped at the top of the fountain, taking a swing at the smaller man, followed by an uppercut. He continued with a short combo of jabs and hooks.

Deidara, completely enthralled by this turn of events, kept his attention rapt upon the other man. He had never seen a technique like that, he had heard of such things existing, but to his own eyes, this was something completely new.

"You have very interesting jutsu, un." He said, voice completely saturated with glee.

He did not even make an attempt to move, meeting the man in combat, taking blows, defending some, though most went through.
"Ain't a jutsu, boy. It's my natural ability. And it's not the only one."

He jumped back 30 feet from his opponent and braced himself.

"I'll even show you! GIMME' YOUR BEST SHOT! RIGHT HERE!"

Greed continued to grin at Deidara, daring him.

Deidara grinned at this, still in awe at the other man. He pulled back, grabbing another wad of clay, and shoving it into his hand, allowing it to be processed. Another bird. But, this one was different-- when he took it out, he threw it upon the ground with a hand seal following its descent. A poof of dust erupted in its wake, and from the dust, Deidara flew, on the back of a large clay bird.

"Up here, un!" He grinned down at his adversary, now hovering around above him. "Come get me." He took this opportunity to ready another lump of clay, to have an explosive ready for the ensuing fight.

Greed grinned and raised his shield over his body. He watched the bird's trajectory for a moment, calculated in his head, the decided on a course of action.

"Let's see you beat THIS!"

He launched straight up into the air, trying to sink his claws into the underside of the flying construct.

"I'm afraid I'm gonna' have to GROUND you, kid!"

Deidara laughed, a wicked grin settling itself upon his face. "Come and get me, un!" He stopped the bird in its flight, allowing the man's claws to sink into the underside.

At the moment of incision, the bird popped, exploding with a deafening blast.

Deidara grinned, falling through the smoke, smiling at the other man, sending another small bird into flight, before landing upon the ground.

Ground fell through the smoke, focusing on his opponent as his eyes cleared up.

"You're just full of tricks, ain't ya'!"

He grabbed one of his shoes and threw it at the bird, still speeding toward the earth.

He touched down and immediately took off for Deidara.

"NOW STAND AND DELIVER!"

The bird exploded, as the shoe slammed into its small head. Deidara made an almost petulant face, looking up at it.

"You didn't let the art take its course! Hmph. Ah well...it was still lovely, un."

At this moment, Deidara saw the man in front of him running for him in his periphreal view. Eyes widening, he began to move, as to not get overtaken.

Greed put his strength into his stride, digging out massive gouts of earth with every step. He gained closer and closer to the blonde explosives artist.

"Let's see your up-close game! I promise I'll go easy on ya', or can't ninjas fight?"

He ripped up a nearby post out of the ground, swinging it like an over-sized baseball bat.

Deidara leapt into the air, trying to get out of the way, and in his haste, was caught heavily in the side by the post. Skidding across the ground painfully, he rolled over, crawling back up. The smirk returned to his face, as psychotic as ever.

"That was fun, un. Let's do it again."

He grinned, reaching into his robe, slipping his fingers around the top metal loops of multiple kunai, readying them to be thrown.

Greed hurled the post, sending it spinning toward Deidara. He followed quickly in the wake of the post, ready to attack as soon as he took action against the post.

"You look a little slow, pal! Hate to outpace ya'!"

He smiled upon his approach, sharp teeth glinting in his jaws. This was very fun.

Deidara leapt up into the air, foot springing off the post, spraying the ground below with a rain of kunai.

Landing again, he readied a few more, this time slipping something else around the ends with his fingers. He grinned, waiting for the imminent attack.

The kunai harmlessly bounced off of his shield, one of them falling into his opened hand.

"Nice toys, kid. Mind if I use 'em?"

He jumped into the air and tossed the kunai at his feet, then landed and began to jump back and forth around Deidara, trying to throw him off. He began to wind the circle tighter and tighter.

"Let's see you get away from this one!"

He stopped dead several meters from his opponent and charged again, aligning his head like a battering ram.

Deidara darted his head around from side to side, trying to draw a good bead upon the other man.

As he finally focused, seeing him turn toward him again, he immediately sent himself into a series of backwards handsprings, slinging kunai in his wake, each of them having something tied to them--which, as they hit the ground began to burn, and finally explode--exploding tags. Deidara took the dust that kicked up to move, trying to get behind the other man, readying another explosive kunai.

Greed remained blinded my all the debris, but otherwise unharmed. He swung blindly, tearing up the land scape in his wake.

"Where are you?!"

He smashed a small crater into the earth with his fist.

"WHERE..."

He kicked a tree in half.

"ARE..."

He punched threw a blind roundhouse.

"YOU?!"

Stepping back, feeling the wind from the roundhouse blowing closely to his face, Deidara grinned.

"Right here, un."

With a childish giggle, Deidara threw the kunai hence, at the man's feet, the tag setting off and exploding.

"Ready or not..."

Greed was thrown off balance by the shifting of earth, due to the explosion.

Fortunately, he had gotten the direction of Deidara's voice. He pounced in the direction of the sound, grasping for anything he could get.

"Aha!"

Deidara grinned, as the man was directly infront of his face. With another light laugh, he reached a hand out, poking the other man in the nose, with a strange grin.

"You found me, un." He laughed again, taking another tag from his waist pouch, and tying it to whatever he could upon the other man. "What are you going to do now?"

"Well, I can't really hit you full force. It would kill you. But I can make you give up!"

He reaches out further, trying to lock the smaller man into a hold.

"You should give up, anyway. You can't beat me like this, and I'll eventually just outlast you."

Deidara grinned once more, with a laugh.

"Are you sure, un? I could definately make us both into beautiful art."

He snickered slightly, as the exploding tag went off, enveloping both of them in its wake.

Greed coughed for a moment, clearing his lungs.

"Ya' know, this is getting annoying! How many of those do you have? They have to run out sooner or later!"

He gropes around, trying to verify if the man is still nearby.

"Look, just because you're a pretty guy, don't think I won't get serious in this match."

Deidara giggled again. The other man was right--his tags were running very low, he did not know if he had any left. It may be time to finish it soon.

"I would hope that you would, un. It's no fun to hold back."

He grinned, standing his ground, a few feet away in the dusts. This had been as he thought it would be, a very intriguing and exciting experience. He reached into his pack once more, checking his ninja tools--two kunai, no tags, maybe three smoke bombs, and maybe twenty senbon needles. It would have to do.

Greed re-focused on the Deidara in the distance. He hunkered down low, crouched like a linebacker. He punched both hands into the ground, pulling up two large chunks of earth.

"So D," he said, standing and juggling the rocks, "You ready to give up?"

As he juggled, he began to slowly advance on Deidara.

"It's not too late. I'd hate to hurt that face of yours."

Deidara reached into his satchel, reaching deep, grasping the last of the clay, to force it into the mouth of his hand.

"I think you may be ready after this last shot of mine..." He grinned. As the mouth-hand finished, he brought out a strange looking sculpture, that looked like a deformed bird.
"A smaller version of my masterpiece..no.18.."

Greed stopped and stared at it. It was the most abstract bird he had ever seen. More like a tiny...tiny...a tiny something, but definitely not a bird.

"What the hell is that supposed to do that's so great?"

He walked up, dropping his boulders, and leaned in on him.

"Doesn't look so great."

He grinned, holding it up so the other man could see.

"My most beautiful creation, un. It makes an explosion that would shake everything...an explosion worthy of the title 'art'...no, one that defines it."

He turned, his eyes closed in the smile, though his gleeful expression was tainted fully with something between sadism and psychosis.

"Would you like to see, un?"

Greed always did love testing himself. He reached out and grabbed the bomb, holding onto its head.

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha! You've got some serious balls, kid! I like to gamble! Do it. DO IT! SET IT OFF AND LET'S SEE WHo COMES OUT OF IT BETTER!"

He beamed, all sense of sanity leaving his face. Placing his hands together in the seal, he yelled, his voice wild, and full of unbridled anticipation.

"LET'S DO IT!"

Throwing his head back with laughter, he brought the words that would bring his art to life through his lips, birthing it into the air.

"KAI!"

A light brighter than any sun, and an explosion, large as an eruption, shook the world around them, epicentering from their spot, and filtering outward, like waves in the wake of a hurricane.

Greed was blown backwards by the impact, his body tearing through trees, landscape, concrete, and whatever else was in the vicinity. His dark black shape tore through several buildings near the end of his journal, the last of which collapsed down upon him.

All was quite in the wake of the blast for several minutes...

"Uh..." was heard from the rubble.

Suddenly, a clawed hand burst up from within the wreckage.

"Ha ha! Still standing! Another perfect landing!" Greed yelled, standing up and moving several tons of debris.

"You're quite a man kid...Kid? YO, KID!" he yelled, as he began to head back toward ground zero.

"WHERE ARE YA', KID?!"

A muffled voice yelled up from under a bit of debris, as a hand tried to claw its way out. Deidara began squeezing his way through the debris, scrapes and scars across his face, his normally tied hair fallen in a flaxen flood around his shoulders. It could be noticed that Deidara was only clawing with one arm. Pushing himself up a little, he tried to get farther, but wasn't having too good of results. "I'm..I'm here, un."

Greed ran to his location, easily lifting the wreckage off and helping him up.

"You okay?! Holy crap!"

He lifts Deidara to his feet, supporting him slightly.

"You gonna' be alright, kid? That was quite the explosion!"

Deidara cocked his head to the side, his neck moving with an audible 'crack'. He winced, but grinned again. Looking down at his tattered Akatsuki robe, and his broken, bloodied body, he nodded.

"I'll be alright,un. No pain for art was ever in vain." He waved his working arm, the other limp within his sleeve. Or so it looked. With an inquisitive expression, Deidara looked up at the other man.

"Thank you for getting me out of there, un....now, could you help me find my right arm?"

Greed stared at the battered form of his new "buddy."

"....Uh. Right. Arm. Gotcha'."

He sniffed the the stump, then carried Deidara over to the side of the battlefield.

"Hold on sec."

He returned along to the ruins and sniffed the air, running this way and that way until he finally settled on one pile and began sifting through it. He soon popped up waving to Deidara with his own arm.

"GOT IT!" he yelled, running back.

"You, uh, do know how to put this back, right? I don't want you bleeding to death right here."

Deidara nodded once.

"Yep. This has happened before, in another fight I was in, un. Besides, it was cauterized in the blast.." He nodded again. "I'll take care of it."

Smiling to the other man, as he took his arm, he spoke brightly, "That was fun, un. I like you. You know how to fight well."
"
You're not bad either, D!" he grinned.

"More humans should be like you, the total package. Ya' look good, ya' fight good, and you can strategize! Rare to have all those traits together."

He stretched and cracked his bones a bit.

"Still, it was fun! Thanks for the match. Got pretty heated for a sec."

His grin widened into a smile, as he nodded once more.

"Hai, Greed-san. I think you'd be a good candidate for Akatsuki. Strong, fast, and ruthless, un. A damned good fighter. And.." His smile widened even more. "You appreciate art. We should do this again."

"...Aka-what? What the hell is that? Some ninja club? Can a non-ninja join? Is there a benefits package? What about vacations?"

He put his hand under his chin, thinking about that for a moment.

"I may not know art, but I know what I like. And I like a good tussle."

"We're a bunch of Ninja who have left our villages for..." His eyes narrowed, "..various reasons." He looked up, before continuing. "We're all unique in some way....I've got mouths on my hands....my danna was a living puppet..."His voice softened when speaking these words, as his eyes glazed over in rememberance. He shook his head, clearing it. "We even have someone who's half-shark, and one who's half-plant, and cannibalistic.." He put a finger to his mouth in thought. "You'd fit in perfectly. I don't think Leader-sama would care that you aren't a ninja. You kick too much ass for that to matter."

"Hey now! What a coincidence, I'm an outcast from my old family! The other sins couldn't deal with the fact that I was strong-willed, so I ran the fuck away!"

He laughed and slapped Deidara on the back, accidentally forgetting about the arm.

"AH! Shit! Sorry about that!"

He coughed nervously and returned to his casual speaking.

"But anyway, that might not be so bad!"

A laugh escaped Deidara, as he stumbled forward a bit. "I'm alright. And, you'd fit in great!" He nodded. "We'll need to get you a ring and a robe." He nodded once. "And we can start Akatsuki here in the City!"

"Hooray!"

He continued to walk with him until they were out of the area.
