dance dance, we're falling apart to half time

Characters; Korra and her friends and anyone who happens to be in the club. Come one, come all!
Summary; Korra decides to celebrate 6 months in the City by dancing.
Log;She'd been woken up that morning by a incessant beeping noise; it took her a full three minutes to figure out it was her device and how to turn it off (she almost breaks it in her frustration, but she doubts she'd get any sympathy from Chekov if she broke yet another piece of electronic equipment).

What was so important that her device felt compelled to disturb her slumber?

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SIX MONTH ANNIVERSARY!

Who sent it? How did they know? Korra doesn't bother wondering. Six months… At first the thought horrifies her…but it hasn't been all bad. She fingers the necklace that Chekov had given her.

She can either spend the day distracted and wallowing, or she can remind herself of the good things she has here.

She decides to go dancing.

It's clear no one ever taught her how to get dressed for clubbing; she's just wearing her "I Mustache You A Question" t-shirt and Chekov's necklace, a strange combination of casual and fancy. Somehow she makes it work. And it's a bit early in the night for the club to really be rocking, but that doesn't slow Korra down any. She's in the middle of the dance floor, being taught some new moves by the club's regulars and just in general having a grand old time.

That doesn't make sense. Only someone who can really see the future knows what it's like, and no one can do that.

[It's a thing. There are a lot of hugs on Air Temple Island.] Then I hope you get to stay here for a long time.

Tohru nods her head and assures Jinora, "Yes. However you like! However you feel the music moves you. And I can twirl you, too, if you want?"

By the bright smile on her face, it's clear Tohru enjoys spinning, rather she's the one doing it, or helping it along.

"I wouldn't mind being twirled, just to start."

Korra raises an eyebrow. "Seriously stupid," she agrees. "Why would your skin color make you good at sports? That doesn't make any sense."

[riceballfruit]

"Then I would like the pleasure to help you with that," Tohru said, happily as she reached for Jinora's hand.

[spiderkid]

"What about any Tai Chi type stuff?" he asks. "That's sort of like dancing, just... slower." He starts miming some slow martial arts poses in a terrible attempt at Tai Chi.

"I never said it made sense, that's just the way people think sometimes."

He sips his Coke and hopes this topic of conversation is over.

"I don't know about tai chi, but that looks a little like bending." Jinora responds with a few movements of her own--definitely soft martial arts, and very practiced and graceful.

Jinora takes her hand and goes along with the spin. It... really is kind of fun, actually. "And that's a spin?"

"Yes, that's one type!" Tohru says, then pulls Jinora close, her arm whirling just a bit around her, to then twirl her outwardly.

"And that's another one."

This time, Jinora actually laughs before going into a spin of her own, graceful by virtue of a good deal of airbending training rather than any idea as to what she's doing. "Where did you learn to do those?"

[riceballfruit]

"From watching other people, and a couple of kind gentlemen I danced with that taught me a lot," Tohru answered. "I watched it done, and asked for them to do it in turn. We tried it out on each other. It works nicely, doesn't it?"

[pratful]

[ he had a difficult time holding back a smile as he answered. ]

And the Lady Jinora has come to grace me with her fair company. Please, all me to pay my respects.

[ he bowed formally and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. ]

I'm surprised you remembered my full title.

[pratful]

[ he refrained from snorting, but only just barely. ]

That... whatever it is that's happening out there, can hardly be called dancing. There's far too much movement.

[ and not nearly enough coordination among the gathered guests, but, he took the bottle of water and gratefully took a sip. At least it gave him something to do. ]

You're the first prince I've ever met. It seemed like an important thing to remember.

"You danced with boys?" It's rude to answer a question with another question, but if Tohru is dancing with boys, then Jinora needs details. "Were any of them cute? Do you like any of them?"

[anatural]

[Korra looks at him funny]

You dance without moving? That sounds boring.

[anatural]

"People are dumb." Korra leans on her elbows and takes a sip of her water. "So what do you like to do?"

[riceballfruit]

Tohru looks a little flustered to that, but doesn't find anything rude with it. She's just not sure how to approach answering it.

"Well, yes. I did. They were all very handsome," she says, though she's not that's what Jinora's looking for. "And they were all nice. I like them as people, and hope to meet again." But there was only one boy on her mind the way Jinora was looking for.

Asking the right questions, she might get the right answers.

Miles nods. "A little faster, and to the music, and that could be dancing." He tries to copy her movements, failing a bit less this time.

[spiderkid]

"Oh, I dunno. I like hanging out with my friend Ganke, watching TV, reading comic books." He kicks his feet underneath the stool. "What do you like to do?"

Of course Tohru liked them all as people; she's Tohru. Jinora is not deterred.

"But did you like any of them?" she replies in an attempt to clarify. "Were any of them special?"

Dances... with steps? That would make dancing so much easier! Interest piqued, Jinora forgets to not enjoy herself and asks, "Do you remember the steps, Chief Bei Fong?"

She gives it another go, a little faster this time. The girl doesn't have much in the way of rhythm when it comes to matching the music, which she notices. "Maybe I should follow you?"

"I'm sure all of them are special in their own way," Tohru says with a bright smile.
