[ it's been a long time since captain janeway's put on something remotely formal that wasn't her dress uniform. it's one of the perks of being a starfleet officer, and the captain of a starship, but something she doesn't have the luxury of exploiting right now for a variety of reasons. which is why she ends up settling on something comfortable, yet appropriate before she departs for the restaurant like she promised her first officer she would.
truth be told, if chakotay hadn't appealed to her and called in what was, for all intents and purposes, a personal favor, she likely wouldn't have shown up at all. but she's here now, and has acquired both a table and a glass of spanish rosado. kathryn alternates between sipping the rosé and continuing to work on what she'd been buried in before chakotay talked her into doing this -- as best she can on what she considers to be an antique smartphone, anyway.
