Summary; Yuki wants to have a talk with Kyo, so they meet at Cafe Juliet.
Log;
Fighting the urge to stuff his hands into the undoubtably warm pockets of his....well, Kyo's pants, Yuki opted instead to wrap his arms around himself in an attempt to fend off the sudden bout of shivers. Cafe Juliet shouldn't be much further but really, did that cat own ANYTHING that would keep him warm? To add insult to injury, not only were they light enough to ensure his continual state of popsicle-dom, they were too big for him to begin with. Squeezing his hands into fists, the boy tried desperately to shake the chill from his fingers as he pushed through the door.
The City really was a rather remarkable place, and every new glimpse he saw only furthered his amazement. The cafe for example, had an undeniably welcoming feel, and Yuki felt himself relax almost immediately. He wondered vaguely when the last time was that he had actually let his guard down - certainly not since before Miss Honda and that stupid cat had gone missing, speaking of which...
Violet eyes narrowed in concentration when he caught sight of that familiar red hair. At least he wasn't difficult to pick out of a crowd.
Standing in the midst of the crowd, Kyo began to grumble to himself for even agreeing to meet that damn rat as he waited for the other to arrive. He couldn't really figure out why that he asked to talk to him in the first place, or probably to fight with him some more and make him look stupid.
He sighed, ever since that damn rat arrived in the city, it had done nothing but made him even more irritable than before, he couldn't help it.
A few minutes later, he looked up upon hearing the cafe door open, and frowned as the other approached him.
"About time you show up," he said, impatiently, "Now, what did you want to talk about?"
Yuki chose to disreguard the question - if one could even call it that, and sat down across from the other. He let a few minutes pass in silence, simply studying the other- half to mull his own thoughts over, and half to annoy the cat.
The idea had been bothering him for quite some time, and it hadn't been helped that the rumor was entirely encouraged back at Shigure's house. Why exactly, the thought had troubled him so much, he still didn't know. Which is what drove him to ask Kyo directly. While being able to see the two alive and well had been a comfort, it didn't do much to assuade the knot currently twisting in his stomach. They were living together?
Arms crossed defensively over himself, he kept perfectly still before posing a question of his own, voice soft and almost uncertain. "Did you and Miss Honda run away together?"
He clentched his fist, annoyed that the damn rat kept him in silence by not answering his question quick enough. He should have known the rat would keep him waiting, and it only annoyed him further, making him feel like hitting the other.
"Okay. That's it, I--" he paused. He just about to comment on it, when suddenly Yuki spoke up, "Wait--what?"
He lifted his hand to put in from of his mouth, to hide the fact he wanted to burst out laughing. So that was the reason he wanted to talk to him! That damn rat thought they ran off together?! It was just too funny!
Kyo could have just told him the truth, that they didn't end up here by choice, but this, however was the perfect chance to annoy him as long as he could. That damn rat had the upper hand on his so many times before, so this was too perfect.
"Maybe," he smirked, "What do you think?"
As uncertain as he'd felt a moment before, Yuki's entire demeanor seemed to change in an instant at the reply. That was all the answer he'd needed. After all, Kyo certainly wasn't very good at trying to get under his skin and he knew his cousin well enough read into his reactions. The cocky reply? Definitely not an affirmative answer.
While the confirmation was a relief to hear, it only left Yuki more confused. On a personal level, he acknowledged that to some degree he did care very deeply about Miss Honda, but was it enough to warrant this degree of.... anxiety over the supposed rendezvous with his cousin?
No. It didn't. So if it wasn't Tohru he'd been thinking about - No. No no no. Yuki definitely wasn't going to think about the alternative. And here he'd been worried enough about the outcome to actually let his apathetic facade slip in front of the other- not a mistake he planned on making twice.
Instead he merely offered a sly smile in response, arching an eyebrow. "Hm. I knew that wasn't the case. You're much too shy to do something like that. Of course she rejected you."
The moment his cousin's expression changed, he knew the other saw right through him, again! Was he really that predicable?! And the way Yuki was looking at him, with that smug smile of his, rubbing it in his face and showing off at how much better he was than him. He hated that, and it only angered him further.
"You're calling me shy?! Like hell I am! Tch. You're really one to talk you damned rat, since you're like that all the fucking time" Kyo retorted, glaring at the other as the other finally spoke, "And you know what? Not that I actually care, but if I did actually ask Tohru, I don't think she'd actually reject me, like you think"
Ignoring the sinking feeling in his stomach, Yuki looked away - knowing the action would be interpreted as an act of dismissal. "Oh no, it appears I've only flustered you further. I didn't realize you were so easily embarrassed." Normally he had no qualms baiting the cat, as it had become more or less....routine since they'd been staying at Shigure's, but Yuki was unsettled tonight for some reason. And he did not like it one bit.
After all, being unsettled led to more emotional outbursts, which meant sounding more like Kyo and consequently, more like an idiot. Besides, it would wind up providing more than ample ammunition in further arguments if for some reason Yuki actually did lose his composure.
No; he scolded. He'd already decided not to think about this- Instead he stood suddenly, glaring down at the red head with an unreadable expression.
"If you care about her so much then go tell her." He said, voicecold and a bit sharper than intended. Yuki wasn't sure what it was, but that same chill had snuck up on him once more and he shuddered almost imperceptively. He didn't wait for a response and instead whirled around, heading out of the cafe and into the night air without another word.
"Oh sure, I am...like you didn't see that coming, or even plan that, you damn rat!" Kyo hissed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. As he saw the other look away, looking as if the other was dismissing him altogether, like he always did.
He was just about to say something else, when Yuki spoke again, only this time he didn't get a chance to respond because Yuki suddenly just got up and left without another word.
"Bastard. He just always has to have the last word, doesn't he? What the hell is his problem, I didn't say I cared about her either" Kyo growled, his voice just barely about a whisper, talking more to himself since the other left. Though he had to admit, something was off about Yuki, maybe he did say something that finally got to him, this time he really didn't know.
