Log; Ongoing.
When; September 24th, afternoon
Rating; PG
Characters; Pintel (
dated_a_eunuch), Ragetti (
creditfertryin), and Jack Sparrow (
13_year_captain).
Summary; Pintl and Ragetti have decided to sign articles with The Black Swann, and so pay a visit to her captain.
Log;
Pintel was still completely lost on the sea-shore room, but didn't ask questions. (He wouldn't be able to think of the right questions, anyway, most likely.) All he was really concerned with was that it was, indeed, there and that there was a large ship that held job-opportunities for himself and his constant companion. The Black Swann loomed obvious in the harbor, and he grinned at it for a moment, kicking off his shoes to begin trudging through the sand.
"Keep up." He mumbled at Ragetti, glancing over his shoulder to make sure the other man was still with him. He doubted that he would linger in the thin hallways of the building behind them, but he felt better making sure. "Watch yerself, too. I dunno' what's about on this 'ere boat."
Once on the dock, he put his shoes back on, walking up the plank that led to the ship's deck. He was wary, looking around slowly for a moment before proceeding any further. The door to the captain's cabin was closed; the small windows that made it ornate were foggy. There wasn't even really a telling of whether Jack Sparrow found himself here at the moment. With another quick look to Ragetti, he knocked at the door.

In truth he didn't need to be told at all to keep up, considering he had been nearly stepping on his stout companion as they made their way to the ocean. It still didn't make any sense to the lean man, how the entire sea could be locked into this place. But like Pintel, he hardly cared. There was a ship, and a shore, and the cool hush of waves, and a boat, and that was all that mattered.
He just hoped Captain Jack would let them sign aboard. He'd let them before, but there was no telling with that man.
Ragetti followed loyally, mimicking the wary look-about Pintel threw along the deck of the ship. One hand lifted to curl into the back of Pintel's jacket as they made their way to the captain's cabin, using the shorter man as a guide as he glanced around the vessel, memorizing its layout as quickly as he could. He couldn't help but lift both eyebrows. It was definitely a pretty ship. When they reached the cabin, Ragetti craned a little to try and see into the windows, pursing his lips against the need to pose a nervous question to break the silence that followed Pintel's knock.

The most prominent similarity to the Pearl was, of course, the man leaning his chair back against a support beam as he worked his way to a deep drunkenness. Captain Sparrow had not been counting on company, but a keenly developed paranoia told him he wasn't alone on this deck any longer. Bugger.
"Oi!! Lurking round doors only postpones the inevitable! What is it you're after?"
He raised his voice to the door, but kept his tone casual. He didn't even right his chair completely, but he drew his gun and kept it at the ready just below the level of the table.

Back to business, "Ye've got quite a ship 'ere, Cap'n Sparrow. We jus' got 'ere, figured ye migh' need more hands on desk, jus' as we need ourselves a familiar way 'a' livin'."

He, too, couldn't help but grin a little, replying to Pintel's hushed comment with a giggle. Jack had alwas been peculiar, why would it be any different here? The shorter pirate had the conversation under control for the moment, as usual, so he refrained from offering any sort of comment. Instead, Ragetti leaned a little towards the door, listening for a response from Jack.

Jack made a sour face as he worked to clear his vision and got to his feet. He holstered his gun and carried only the rum to the door, keeping his swaying as minimal as possible. He tapped on the glass of the door to shoo the men from it before swinging the door open.
"Afternoon, gents...." He looked from one to the other with a raised brow before leaning his head back and offering them a smile. "Looking to sign the articles yet again, eh? Of course, given the circumstances, you may still qualify under my employ. Do you not?" Jack lowered his head, looking deep in thought for a second as he worked over the technical issues of a crew following their fallen Captain. "... No matter. Welcome aboard, lads."

Alive or dead didn't matter, apparently. In his rare moment of musing about such things, he nearly missed Sparrow welcoming them back onto the crew (without any argument, too). "Oh, uh..." He smiled in attempt to make himself look a little less lost on everything, "Thank ye'." Eh... He'd called them 'lads', though. You'd figure that balding the way he had would've gotten him out of being called 'lad' by now. Christ.
Frowning slightly now, he turned to look across the deck of the ship. They weren't out to sea, so there probably wasn't too much that needed to be done immediately. Still, he'd feel better being at work... He'd never been one for learning, but work had never bothered him much at all. (Odd, as he didn't much care for being bossed around.) With a slightly doubting look, he returned to Sparrow's gaze. "What'll ye have 'a' us firs', Cap'n?"

He wasn't complaining.
Still, he waited for the other shoe to drop.
Like his companion, Ragetti was eager to do what he could on the ship straight away. But signing articles usually meant signing, and the uneasy feeling of detachment he had wouldn't go away until he did just that. While Ragetti wasn't always one for formalities and paperwork... this was one situation he found them both important. Instead of stating such, though, he waited to see what Jack might say next. If he didn't mention Articles again, then Ragetti would know something else was about.

The Captain rest his shoulder against the door frame and looked lost in thought (or, possibly, a little mad) for a moment or so. Finally he looked up, greeting them again with a grin, and waved his rum bottle in the general direction of the stairs leading below deck.
"The guns on this ship far outnumber those on the Pearl, and they've not been tended to in some time. You men shall see to their proper cleaning and preparation. Do feel free to test one or two, but give fair warning, eh? I hate the sound..."
He left a pause to hang for a moment, nearly long enough for them to make off to the task assigned, before raising his hand with one finger signaling that he may speak...soon... Surely he would, once he felt he had their full attention.
"First, of course, you shall need to sign on. New ship. New articles. Savvy?"
((and I lose as well for not noticing there was a reply...here I was thinking it'd been dropped, and I'm the screw up. ;_; ))
