Log;

Nill skipped down the street towards the Opera House, her laptop computer hugged tightly against her chest. She'd thought of hiding it somewhere, but she decided it was too precious to lose, so she'd brought it along. In any case, if she had to explain something, it would be useful.

She found the building easily enough--it towered above her, its chandeliers basking its arches in feather-soft light. Sure enough, there were several bold signs with "NO TRESPASSING" in angry red letters on their faces. She pulled at the corner of one of them, and it stuck to the wall. Satisfied that she'd reached her desination, Nill extended a hand and rapped on the main door.

Grumbling a little under his breath, Draco hurried to the front doors of the Opera House to greet his newest guest. He had told her to knock knowing that the "fangirls" as they called themselves never bothered knocking or asking permission - they just barged right in. It would take a few days to set up a proper security system, and by then the might even be all gone. One could hope.

Pausing to straighten his shirt, Draco took a deep breath, pushed a smirk onto his lips, and waved his wand at the locks. They sprung open along with the door, the little gothic-lolita-looking girl was standing there looking appropriately nervious with her journal-machine clutched to her busom.

"Welcome, Miss Nill, to the Opera House."

A little bewildered by the lack of greeting, Draco nevertheless backed out of the doorway to let Nill inside. You never knew when those freaks were going to pounce.

"Come in," he murmured, even more taken aback by the aparently quite real wings on her back. It made her look like an angel...

Draco wasn't about to pry too closely as to why the girl wasn't speaking, but it certainly made small conversation difficult. His shoes made clicking sounds on the stone floors until he reached the mauve carpet where it lead to the large double-doors that opened into the hall.

The locks sprung open with another wave of his wand and a mental "Alohamora" and the door ground open slowly, revealing the grand staircase (http://www.yyquest.net/albums/album22/interior7.jpg). The candals were lit, as usual, but the group who lived here did not really use this entrance much - unless they were practicing their various arts.

The smallest of smiles crossed Draco's face when he watched Nill's awe and excitement. Seeing her interest made him experience the overwhelming beauty (http://www.linternaute.com/musique/diaporama-image/operas/image/opera-garnier-paris.jpg) of the building again, like the first time he had entered.

He nevertheless automatically jerked his wand away from Nill's inquisitive fingers - a wizard never gave up his wand. It took him a moment to register what she was asking and then the suspicion fell from his face.

"Ah - my wand. It helps focus the magic in a wizard and helps cast spells," he explained, waving his wand once to make the candels in one corner go out and then waved it again to make them re-light.

Draco had a question to reply to Nill's: namely, "Can you not speak?"

She certainly was cute enough, he never would have thought... But then again, perhaps angels from her world didn't speak at all.

Figuring it was probably a touchy subject, Draco let it go with nothing to gain from questioning further.

"Magic is a natural force that all wizards have control over," he explained patiently, moving down the stairs towards the main floor. From there you could see all the paintings on the arched cielings.

"But it's usually rather erratic, unless you have a wand to focus the energy."
