Summary; Aizen and Orochimaru go to the forest for a friendly chat.

Orochimaru made his way into the forest that had popped up some time since his disappearance. It was odd seeing all these changes that had taken place in such a short amount of time; new deities, new fountain, new forest, new ocean, and a hospital of all things. It didn’t bother him, he just didn’t understand the purpose behind all the changes.

As he walked along, he recalled having heard about all the big bad monsters lurking in the trees, but they all seemed rather tame and easily killed; people just whining for the sake of whining it seemed. Sure the pets were all over grown, and had strange appearances, but he had seen scarier summons from a twelve year old.

There had been no specific time set for his meeting for Aizen, so when he reached the designated spot, he leaned against the trunk of a tree and crossed his arms over his chest in a casual pose; watching the fading light of the setting sun through the branches and colorful leaves, he waited.

Aizen was already beside him, currently staring out at the leaves.

"I see you've made it. You're a hard man to get a hold of Orochimaru-san."

Orochimaru didn't look at the man who had appeared beside him, he hadn't really expected less from him.

"I apologize for that, I was... indisposed." He smirked at the memory, not a necessarily pleasent one, but it had it's amusing aspects nonetheless. "I'm here now, and we can speak without needing to concern ouselves with eavesdroppers."

"As to the first order of business, It was Yondaime, correct?"

"Not to sound rude, but even if it was, I'm afraid that is none of your business. That is an affair I will deal with on my own."

"Fair enough. As to the matter of the shinigami Nemu, I would appreciate being kept of abreast of research opportunities like that, rather than finding out as I did."

"Oh yes, that. Once again, I offer my apologies. That situation did not go quite as I had planned, and I did not have the time to inform you of my plans. Though, I did bring something you may find makes up for the transgression at least a little bit."

Orochimaru reached into his gi, and pulled out a small stack of papers, folded neatly in half and handed them to Aizen.

The contents of the papers, were the research notes done on the Shinigami:

Concerning the Subject in Question

-This subject has a high pain threshold, and is loathe to give up sensitive information. Able to handle the more mundane torture methods, and even when the pain is increased the female is more likely to bite off her own tongue than speak. Had to proceed to third level methods to induce tears, and fourth level to procure screams. Nerve cells are able to transmit more pain receptors than the average human. Had to access the brain before any useful information could be procured.

-This specimen has been heavily modified. An extra muscle runs along the back of the calf and the side of the thigh, allowing for faster natural movements and reactions. Heart is larger than average for a female of her height and weight. Lungs also seem modified, capable of holding breath for over three minutes without damage to the brain. Capable of metabolizing most poisons, including simple alcohol and the majority of common and uncommon poisons.

-The female responds to healing by chakra, suggesting that reiatsu and chakra are compatible.

-Specimen cried out several names. Mayuri-sama. Rangiku. Hinamori. Zaraki-taichou. Kyouraku-taichou. Ise-fukutaichou. Many other indistinguishable words as well. All are confirmed shinigami.

-Subject pronounced dead at 2:56 am. Full dissection and autopsy followed. Body disposed of at 3:14 am. Will watch to gain first hand experience of the revival this City is said to allow.


Concerning All Shinigami

-Shinigami rely on something called ‘reiastu’, spirit energy, for life. They also manipulate it into moves and attacks called ‘kidou’. This is in a similar manner to our jutsu, in that the ‘reiatsu’ distributes itself throughout the body and can be released in certain manners. It also has the same basic energy qualities that chakra does.

-Shinigami possess all the same bodily organs and human body parts as we, including blood, and they rely on reiatsu for life. Even if bodily functions continue, if reiatsu does not, like chakara depletion, they will die.

-Shinigami possess a vital organ of sorts in their soul bodies, the ‘saketsu chain’ and the ‘hakusui soul sleep’. If these chains, within the body, are severed, the shinigami will loose all powers and cease to be. These are very similar to the chakara coils, with minor differences.

-Gigai are false bodies used by shinigami to interact with the living of their world. The bodies are manufactured, and fully operational, lacking only a soul to activate them. The soul can be inserted simply by walking into the body, or by entering the body through mechanical means. These objects, if they are compatible with the humans from my world, would be perfect.

"Hm..." he sighed, perusing the data, "This will be satisfactory."

He took a seat across from Orochimaru, leaning against a tree.

"Another good avenue of research is power generation. For instance, humans generate chakra, we generate reiatsu, but the levels are very different. A basic level shinigami has far more power than a basic level ninja. Perhaps altering a human body in the correct manner would allow them to hold the same energy as a shinigami."

"Altering the inner coils to increase the amount of chakara production the body is capable of? It would not be an easy task. Or, have you come up with some means for doing this?"

Orochimaru remained standing as he was, not feeling the need to sit, his legs needed a good stretching still.

"I gained as much knowledge from this one subject as I could, but she could only be kept alive for so long, even with medical assistance. It will take a few more trials to gain what I need to know about Shinigami energy production." He paused taking an idea into consideration, before he extended an idea he had the first time they had spoken. "That is, unless you are willing to exchange notes, Shinigami for shinobi? That would enable us to move onto other worlds residence all the quicker."

"I have done little in the way of research as of late, though I am on the lookout for a ninja who has abilities I want to research."

"I guess it would then depend on what exactly you are looking for. I have one under my command with the ability to grow his bones and use them as very powerful wepons. There are also the Hyuuga in the City with their Byakugan, and the Uchihas with the Sharingan, though I would much prefer it if you don't touch the younger one. If it's chakara control, Kabuto or his lover would be good research subjects."

"I see...Very well. I shall look into the matter and capture him if I sense a use for him."

"The elder Uchiha is very powerful, I worked with him a number of years ago, and he has something that even you may find useful. The Sharingan. Though, without it activated he is blind, a minor side effect."

"We'll talk later then, good bye." Orochimaru straightened from leaning against the tree and proceeded to leave the forest the same way he had entered, not concerned with being attacked by the man he had been speaking with. They had far too much to gain from one another to fight.
