(no subject)

When; 12/10, before the gala
Rating; PG
Characters; Luke ([livejournal.com profile] soulxcrush) and Motoko ([livejournal.com profile] kendogrl)
Summary; Luke and Motoko meet up at the carousel before the ball on their blind date.
Log;

Motoko was nervous, though she tried not to let it show. She had stared in the mirror for a long while, making sure everything was perfect. It had been a while since she had dressed up, and this was the first time she had been on a blind date. Knowing the city might not be safe, she slipped on one of her katana as well. She would just drop it back off when they arrived for the party.

A light snow was falling across the City. She found a bench to sit on near the carousel and brushed a spot off, sitting down carefully so she wouldn't ruin her dress. It was chilly, and she regretted not bringing a jacket, especially since she had arrived early. She fidgeted with her sword nervously, staring up into the night sky.

Luke had intended to bring his date a flower. But his he'd been fidgetting with the delicate blossom all night and gradually he'd turned it into mulch. It still smelled nice but Luke didn't even need to consult someone to realize it wasn't really something fit to give your date. No harm, he figured, after all he didn't even know if his date was a guy or a girl. ...he hoped that his date didn't bring him a flower, that'd be weird. Other than the fidgeting though Luke appeared strangely calm, comfortable even for his first date.
The carousel was spinning as always, the same hypnotic swirl that seemed to fill some with an unreasonable paranoia. He thought it was kind of strange but pretty, like the glowing selenia flowers. Now really wasn't the time to dwell on his home world, looking around uncertainly Luke tried to place his date. He wasn't too sure what he was looking for, he'd given the meeting place but neither he nor his date knew who to look for.

There was a tall, slender girl that he faintly recognized standing by the carousel. She had been on Guy's team in the game of capture the flag. Damn, she was taller than he was. Luke approached her slowly, there didn't seem to be anyone else around here and she did kind of look like she was waiting for someone, fidgetting and staring up at the sky looking a bit lost. He let his boots crunch in the snow that had collected on the ground after the snowfall. Her dress had no sleeves, he wondered if she was warm enough.

"Aren't you cold in just that?" he asked with a curious tilt of his head as he stood next to her. She was certainly dressed for the gala in that dress. It was as colourful as the shaky refractions that bounced from the bejeweled carousel.

[ooc; Luke totally meant to ask her if she was waiting for a date but got distracted by dude, aren't you cold?]

"Yeah, well actually I'm supposed to meet my date first." Luke smiled back easily, not noticing anything strange about a girl totting around a sword. Considering his female companions he probably found the presence of weaponry normal in day to day interaction. "You sure you're not cold? You can have my jacket while you wait, since I'm waiting here too." He fumbled with the clasp that held his sword to his waist, trying to offer his jacket without getting tangled in it. He always found that it was easier to put on these clothes than take them off.

[ooc; :petpet: at least you have a tree now? :3;; And uh...my apologies to Motoko, your date is not too bright.]

Luke paused for a moment, "Are you waiting for a blind date too?"

The jacket was surprisingly soft despite how upright it appeared, draping easily over the dark haired girl's shoulders.

[ooc; SHORT! And uh...they're...in good company? >.>]

Luke took the slim hand she held out, shaking it politely. He paused after a moment still holding her hand, or was he supposed to kiss it?

"Oh, it's no problem," he replied hastily as he withdrew his hand in similar fashion. "I'm Luke, you were on Guy's team for the snowball fight, right?"

"Yeah!" Luke answered enthusiastically. "I've known Guy for...as long as I can remember. Too bad you guys didn't win but it seemed like fun." The redhead was smiling widely, he enjoyed the snow and it was nice to see the whole city covered in it even if he felt cold. And...well everyone had fun.

"Heh, Guy was soaked to the bone when he got back. Freezing and..." he paused, looking at Motoko sheepishly. "Sorry for rambling. It's the first time I've been on a date." It probably wasn't very appropriate to talk about Guy on his date, was it? Even though they were fine around each other their relationship had been questionable at best lately.

[ooc; it's fine, take you time ♥ And uh, excuse Luke's gayness ><]

Luke smiled back, equally encouraging, “I’m glad I’m not the only one.” Though that meant they were possibly equally clueless. But well you didn’t have to be taught to like a person, right?

“It is nice to have Guy here. But I’m having fun meeting new people too,” he said honestly. It was actually quite thrilling to be meeting people on his own like this. It made him a little giddy, like a child on his first day of school maybe, only he had no real way of knowing what that felt like.
