Log; Ongoing

When; Sunday, October the 10th
Rating;Pretty sure it’ll stay around PG, but with this crowd, who knows?
Characters; EVERYONE
Summary; Glinda decides that what the City needs is a good end-of-the-year gala.
Log;

It was almost 8 o'clock and everything had been set up.

Rangiku and Hotaru had strung up red, white, and silver streamers everywhere and several buffet tables were scattered throughout the area. Someone had suggested the hanging of mistletoe. Glinda didn’t know what its purpose was, but it was so pretty, so she had Rangiku add a few sprigs here and there.

Glinda had already briefed those who had volunteered to act as security. They were to enjoy the party, of course, but if they saw anyone causing trouble, it was up to them to handle it. The fireworks team had brought a lot of pyrotechnics. Glinda prayed they knew what they were doing. And Tayuya was off to the side, warming up.

Glinda had been shocked to see the young girl show up at all, let alone in a dress. As she had promised Glinda, the dress wasn't at all obscene. Glinda smoothed a non-existent wrinkle from her own dress and put a hand to her heart. She was nervous, but tried to reassure herself that everything would be perfect.

She checked the time. 8 o'clock. Time for everyone to arrive...

After the fireworks and before the final dance, Glinda stands on a platform at the front of the crowd. Using a holographic projector set up by Cobray, she makes an announcement to the crowd...

Fellow Citizens... I wanted to thank you all for being here. This has been one of the best nights of my life, and I hope each of you can say the same. It was a lot of work to plan this, but I can't take all the credit. This place is so beautiful thanks to Rangiku and Hotaru. Thank you to Sanji and everyone else who worked so hard on the buffet. I'm sure everyone agrees it was all delicious! To my security team, you did wonderfully. Everything went off without a hitch, thanks to you. Shizune, the gift exchange was wonderfully done. Tayuya, the music was beautiful, and so are you. It warms my heart to see you dressed like a lady. And it's nice to see you use that flute for something other than making threats. Thanks also to the pyrotechnics team. I'm glad you knew what you were doing. If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry. But know I'm grateful for all you've done!

Well, the hour is late, and we only have time for one last dance. But though this is the end of the night, don’t think this is the end of the holiday festivities. Motoko and I have a concert in the works for later this month. Anyone who would like to audition should see Motoko or myself to sign up. Tayuya, if you will...

{ooc: Log is open, everyone GO!~ I hope you all fun. My thanks go out to Shizune-mun for coming up with the gift exchange, as well as setting it up. ♥ to you!

A note; Glinda's announcement comes just after the fireworks and just before the final dance... so sometime after midnight. Reference to it whenever you want. Thanks to Cobray-mun for that idea. Also, it is not necessary to interact in this thread. Start your own in your journals, just like with the snowball fight if you’d like. Also, it is also not necessary to interact with Glinda if you don’t want to. However, if you do want to, this is the best place, as I won’t be starting my own thread in her journal.

I can't guarantee I'll be home all day. Today is the school band concert and I promised a friend I’d go. But, if anyone needs me, my AIM is christinemasque and my email is phantom.masque98@gmail.com . I believe I might be able to answer email through my cell phone, so if it's urgent, that's the best way to reach me. But, I don't think any problems should arise. *crosses fingers* See you all at the party!~

Oh, and there will be more info on the aforementioned concert later in Poly-Extra}

"Naw." Tayuya shrugged again dismissively. "Lost track of time on the streets. Can't remember how old I was when I ran away, or when Orochimaru-sama found me. Just know I'm aliv-" She stopped suddenly. ... She wasn't alive. She was dead. It took her a few moments, almost a minute, before she spoke again.

"I'm dead, so... I'm not getting any older. You'll pass me one day, kid." That was a sobering thought. "... I live with my master." She murmured, to answer his question. She let his mutters go unquestioned. If he wanted to tell her, well, she guessed he'd tell her.

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
"You're...dead?" Well, it couldn't be all that weird, could it? He'd seen Seimei here, after all, and Seimei had been killed. "I guess.. that works. Seimei died, and I saw him, so I guess it makes sense that you're here too..." How would that feel, to die and end up here? It... it was a scary thought.

"..your master?" A small shiver crept down his spine. Hadn't Soubi also said something like that? That Ritsuka was his master? Maybe Tayuya's world wasn't so different from his.

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah... M'fucking dead." Bitterness crept into her voice. The feeling of numbness below her neck, of knowing her spine was broken and she couldn't even move, only stare up at the sky as the life ebbed out of her.

"... My master. Orochimaru-sama." She was in deep with the man, indebted so deep she would never be able to pay him back for all he'd done for her, expecially with the power he'd given her these past three days.

"... Who's Seimei?"

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ritsuka lowered his eyes at hearing the bitterness in her voice, regretting that they'd come onto the subject. It would suck, wouldn't it? Being dead.. He couldn't even begin to imagine how that must feel.

"Orochimaru? Sounds familiar..." Oh, that's right. Hadn't his 'mother' been married to an Orochimaru? "I don't think I've met him before."

His eyes dropped back down to the ground. Seimei? Seimei was his best friend, his protector, his role model, his idol. However, he simply said, "He was my brother.."

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Tayuya glanced about before leaning in close to Ritsuka's ears, lowering her voice. No one else needed to hear her say this.

"You don't want to meet him." She'd leave it at that. A lot of the kids she'd met... she didn't want Orochimaru-sama to know she'd met them. They were interesting, scientifically, to him, and if he knew... well... it might be them on the experiment table next, not those stupid shinigami, for whom she had no love or feelings for. But these kids... not these...

"He's dead, then." Tayuya raised her voice again, noting the use of the word 'was'. "... But it must've been nice, having a sibling."

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
That certainly came as a surprise. Tayuya seemed to respect him so much; why wouldn't he like to meet Orochimaru? It seemed like it was a tough thing t oearn respect from Tayuya, and obviously he had to much of it... But he let it go. If she'd had to say it so quietly, then he wouldn't press it. Not now, anyway..

Ritsuka nodded. "He didn't die, though. He was killed." He couldn't help feeling a little of his own bitterness at saying that, an intense hatred for whomever had killed him rising inside of the boy. "It... he was the greatest person I ever knew."

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Big brother, then, I assume." Tayuya was glad Ritsuka didn't press her on Orochimaru. She had immense respect for the man. But that respect was matched with just as much fear. "I've got the Sound Four, I guess." She refered to the closest thing she had to siblings. "But we're not as close as siblings, we were just raised together. And we all know when push comes to shove, it's look out for number one." Another sobering thought.

"... Killed. That sort of thing not happen a lot where you're from?" It was so commonplace in her world that getting killed was almost considered as natural as saying that someone had died of illness or old age.

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, he was my older brother." Ritsuka looked up and shrugged. "Still, they've got to be at least soemwhat close to you, right? If you guys grew up together, I mean."

He shook his head, eyes focused downward again. "Not really. Not the way he was killed, anyway." There were deaths, yes, but none in the same manner as Seimei's. Maybe that was a good thing, he supposed, but it didn't change the fact that Seimei was dead.

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
"We're close enough." Close enough to fuck Sakon on that curse day... Tayuya shushed her mind. "... it's not the same. But... they're all I've got, so I guess the bastards will do."

"..." Damn, now the kid was depressed and that bitch in the fluffy dress was making her way over to make her start playing again. Scrambling, Tayuya tipped her hand under Ritsuka's chin, one quick push upwards.

"No pouting. Pick a type of song, Ritsuka, and I'll play it for ya."

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ritsuka blinked in surprise as Tayuya tipped his head upwards, confused for a moment about what she said. A type of song..? Did he even know any different kinds of songs? "U-Uhmm.. a sonata?" Were sonatas even for the flute? Did that even make sense? "Something soothing?"

He looked around, a bit bewildered as to why she'd suddenly made such a request, and saw the witch coming towards them. He'd never actually met her, but he'd seen her around. Wasn't she the one who'd arranged this thing? The boy looked back at Tayuya, asking, "Are you going to start playing again?"

[identity profile] violentflutist.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Sonata I can do." She smiled reassuringly, noting his slight nervousness about the choice.

Looking towards the witch, she nodded. "She's gonna put me back to work. But you've made my break fun, Ritsuka. Come talk to me anytime, got me?" She raised her flute to her lips, quirking them into a last smile for the boy before she began to play, the sonota drifing slowly over the assembled, smooth, long, low notes, all link loosely in a calming wave.

... Damn, but she really was going soft.

{ooc: aka, way past my bedtime, XD ♥ for you!}

[identity profile] pixelatedmemory.livejournal.com 2006-12-11 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
A slow smile spread across his face, and the boy nodded. "Definitely! Thank you..!" It had definitely been fun talking, despite the mention of a few unstable subjects for the both of them. Ritsuka smiled at Tayuya again before doing a slight bow and turning away.

Maybe things weren't so bad, even thought Soubi had left again.
