Log: Incomplete
When; Yesterday evening.
Rating; PG?
Characters; Naruto [
narutowned] and Sakura [
willfulblossom]
Summary; It’s a date! Oooo XD
Log;
The last thing Sakura had expected was Naruto’s loud and rather sudden invitation for a date. Obviously, he had even surprised himself, as he wasn’t exactly prepared when she accepted straight away and asked where they were going.
And now she was nervous as hell and wishing Ino was there to help fix her hair, or give her a pep talk, or at least piss her off enough to dispel her anxiety. It was ridiculous! It was just Naruto! Her loud, boisterous, upbeat team mate, the boy she thumped over the head or yelled at or punched in the jaw when he said something or acted stupid.
And yet it was Naruto, who was taller now, and wiser and so determined to keep their team together. Naruto, who had been making her feel all smiley and stupidly giggly lately, who had taken to holding her hand and sending her secret squeezes, who had kissed her on the top of that creepy carousel, which had certainly taken some guts.
Trying to shake off her nerves, Sakura finished running a hairbrush through her pink locks and straightened out her dress she had picked up quickly on a whim. It was green and matched her eyes surprisingly well. With one last look in the mirror, she steeled her fluttery and annoying nerves one more time before heading out to the main room of the apartment where Team 7 had taken up residence and where Naruto was waiting for her.

Jiraya's words echoed in the back of Naruto's head as he did his best to recall all the other extra "special" training his teacher had given him over the past two years. Not that Naruto particularly cared to know all those things at the time, but, looking back now, he was grateful for Jiraiya taking the time to instruct him.
It didn't take him long to procure an outfit for the evening. It seemed their own currency worked in this world - oddly enough, but Naruto wouldn't question it. If it worked, it worked. Remembering Jiraiya say something along the lines of "tacky" regarding his usual attire, even Naruto, who was typically naive in ways of romance and dating, knew his battle-worn orange jumpsuit just wouldn't do for the evening.
And so the simple blue plaid button-up shirt left open to reveal a simple t-shirt, accompanied by the simple beige slacks he wore, was what he chose for the evening. Not exactly fashion savvy was he, but at least he wasn't wearing orange.
It was just a cafe, anyway.
Emerging from his own room and meeting Sakura there, his face went three shades of red as he set his eyes on her. Stunning. No matter what Sakura wore she was always beautiful, but something about seeing her not in her usual red battle attire...
"You look very pretty. As always, Sakura-chan." Naruto cleared his throat and looked away sharply, briefly, so that he didn't have to see the look on her face when she saw his blush.
[ooc: I'm being dragged away for the day to go to a con meeting! ;_; I'll reply when I get back tonight.]

Blushing right along with him, Sakura somehow managed to keep herself from looking away, too taken aback by the boy in front of her. "Thank you. You look really nice yourself, Naruto," she smiled, feeling her cheeks burn. The edge of Naruto's collar was sticking up just a bit, and she stepped forward, reaching up to smooth it down. Which ended up giving her quite a nice and up close view of Naruto's insanely blue eyes.
Had they always been that blue? And it was still so weird having to look up at him to make eye contact with him. It made her feel very small. And wow, when had she gotten so close to Naruto, too?!
Well, that wasn't helping with the blushing thing. Smiling and biting down on her lower lip, Sakura stepped back again, tucking a stray lock of pink hair behind her ear. "Well, ready to go?" she asked, hesitantly reaching her hand out for Naruto to take.
[ooc: No worries :D I'll be out for most of the evening myself <3]

Naruto took her hand into his own and smiled her way, nodding. "Yep!" Leading her out of the apartment, he felt his stomach doing flip-flops. They were really doing it, they were going on a date! To retaliate against his crazy nerves he decided that the best course of action would be to chatter up a storm.
"So... I'm really excited, you know? Almost everyone's here, and our team is back, and everyone's pretty much happy I think despite all the stupid stuff that's been happening - well, except for Sasuke, but when is he ever happy? Haha! I don't feel bad being so hard on him though, I mean, look what happened..."
Somehow his one-sided conversation took a rather depressing turn, which of course wasn't his intention. Keeping Team 7 together had become an obsession for him and it was rather hard to go a single second in this place without thinking about it, but this was a date. This was about Sakura-chan and Sakura-chan only. The two of them, a night out on the town, minus all that residual stuff that followed him to this world.
"What I really mean is - you're happy, right, Sakura-chan? It's been crazy but I really hope that while we're here, I can make you happy."

"I am happy, Naruto," she replied when he pulled her into the conversation, looking up at him and smiling brightly. Sakura stepped closer to him as they walked, allowing their arms to gently brush together, looking up at him. "You're here, even though you're two years older, and Sasuke-kun is here. And you two are the most important people to me," she said softly, tentatively running the pad of her thumb over his knuckles.
"It feels strange, though. I know... I know you and Sasuke-kun are used to living on your own, but my parents aren't here and it's just the three of us. I like it. It's like our own... family," she sighed, contentment clear in her body language and tone.
"And then you... and me. Us," she tested the word out, looking away thoughtfully. That sounded nice too, surprisingly. "Even if it was a spur of the moment thing, and only because you were jealous," she paused, eyeing him out of the corner of her eye with a little smirk, "I'm really glad you invited me out tonight, Naruto. Alone time with you is..." she trailed off again, blushing. Is just what she wanted.

Blinking at her as she trailed off, Naruto's cheeks turned a delicate shade of pink and he chuckled sheepishly. "No problem! I should have asked you out sooner, I'm sorry. I just couldn't help it when I saw you talking with that guy..." Possessive as always, that Uzumaki Naruto, and he felt the same about spending time alone with just her.
Possessive, idealistic Naruto. The stuff with Sasuke, he was determined to make it all work out somehow. Perhaps all he needed was a little alone time with Sasuke as well to make things one-hundred percent perfect.
But this was not the time to think about Sasuke, he reminded himself again.
"I'm still a little overwhelmed by all of this. By us. You know... It's really strange and even stranger with you two years younger." For what would happen to this Sakura if and when he found a way back to Konoha? The Sakura that he would find there would not be the same. Or would it?

"Rabi is a friend, Naruto. Was I kissing him on top of any carousels?" she raised an eyebrow, acting brave although she was still blushing pink to her ears and chewing nervously on her bottom lip. It was almost flattering, that Naruto got jealous so quickly, as if someone was going to snatch her away. "I don't mind. It was good timing," she added reassuringly.
She was just getting over her blush and calming down a little when Naruto kept talking and it returned full force. "You and me both," she laughed softly. "It's confusing, I know," she nodded. She had certainly already thought a lot about what would happen if and when everyone returned to everywhere they were supposed to be.
"But... what can we do? Except take advantage of the situation? Of the moment..." she trailed off softly, looking up into Naruto's eyes again, just looking.

Leading Sakura into the cafe, Naruto pulled out a chair for her with a smile. "Maybe when we're done here we could go ride the carousel! I wanna check it out anyway, it feels kinda funny."

On top of that, Naruto was being quite the gentleman. What had Jiraiya taught him?? Actually, she didn’t really want to know. Most of it was probably perverted and naughty. For the moment, Sakura enjoyed being treated like a princess. “Okay,” she nodded in agreement, smiling across the table at him after he had taken his seat as well. “I haven’t taken a ride yet myself. Mostly because that’s where all that ticking is from,” she replied, glancing in the direction of the carousel.
“But it could still be fun,” she added cheerfully.
