Log; incomplete.
When; Afternoon, someday.
Rating; PG-13?
Characters; Riku /
alluded & Sora /
aglow
Summary; Sora and Riku head for the beach and have a talk.
Log;
The day was swiftly approaching noon, and Riku found himself wandering the elaborate structure of Building 7 with Sora just a few steps ahead of him, growing acutely aware that their destination, Room 13, was still nowhere in sight.
No sooner had it been discovered that the city did indeed have a beach, Sora had declared it necessary to pay it an immediate visit, hence their journey through the city's seventh building. Riku knew he wanted to see it for himself. The city was exciting, perhaps, but he missed home, and getting reaquainted with the beach could remedy this, even if only temporarily.
Unfortunately, to Riku's mild chagrin, the two were quickly discovering that whenever Sora was in the lead, getting lost was inevitable. Somehow, Riku wasn't surprised.

It didn't help.
"Aaah~" With a heavy sigh the map was crumpled into a ball and tossed into the nearest trash bin. Struggling to hide the lost expression on his face, Sora turned, nervous laughter echoing down the hall. "Hey... Riku? Maybe you should lead this time."

There didn't seem to be a recognizable pattern to the arrangement of these doors; the last one they'd passed was numbered 56, and the one they were approaching was numbered 31. Riku resisted the urge to bury his face in his hands.
Miraculously, though, the one door following number 31 turned out to be the one they'd been searching for. Riku suppressed the urge to leap for joy. "I think this is it."

It was an impossibility, the beach rumored to be nestled within this room. But Sora had learned not to take anything in this city for granted. Wrapping his fingers around the doorknob he twisted it down, pushed forward, and was suddenly greeted by a nostalgic blast of salty sea breeze.
"It's real!" Mouth forming a small O of surprise he glanced over his shoulder at Riku, then back to the beach. "There's an ocean!"

He strolled across the threshold and past Sora with his customary nonchalance, leaving the other boy to gawk open-mouthed at the sight before him. "Guess it was here all along."
The sand looked and felt real enough, as did the breeze that gently tousled his hair and the painfully familiar smell of the sea. Closer to home than any other place he'd encounter thus far.
"Come on," Riku called over his shoulder, barely capable of concealing his excitement.
