Log; Ongoing
When; Just after this
Rating; PG-13
Characters; Wendy
motherlike, Hook
ironhook, & Peter
all_butone
Summary; One wish that James Hook had never grown up + Peter's decision that said boy is now his friend + the arrival of Wendy Darling; and things are bound to get complicated.
Log;
Peter grinned happily as the wind rushed past his ears. Christmas Eve was supposed to be special of course, but he'd never imagined something as wonderful as this. He'd managed to make a new friend that morning- James, who was awfully clever and funny and most importantly; loved adventure as much as he did. They'd spent the whole day having fun and talking about Neverland and even though they really had only met early that day, they were fast friends.
And then the most astonishing thing- Wendy had arrived!
He wasn't certain how or why she'd gotten to the City, but it hardly mattered. The boy had missed Wendy terribly (though he'd never go so far as to admit such a thing), and the moment he'd found out he'd insisted on finding her.
Xanadu wasn't far he knew, but he couldn't fight the fluttering in his stomach. He wanted to see her straight away, and though he called for his new friend to follow him- Peter had easily taken a great lead, cutting though the air and stopping only when he'd reached the garden's gate; calling out as he searched for her. "Wendy! Wendy are you there?"

"Wendy! Wendy are you there?"

He stood up, then, and went to her, taking her hand and bowing over it to place a thankful kiss to the back of her hand. "You are a very clever girl, Wendy," He told her, smiling. Then, letting the silver necklace unfold from the safety of his palm, he pulled all of his curls to one side, reaching up behind his slender neck to put the necklace on.
This, was never coming off.

"Come closer to the fire, won't you? I found a lot of blankets in the closet, they'll make a perfect pallet, don't you think?" She turned to pick up and show the handful of blankets to the pair before she went about setting them up.
"The cold, it'll definitely have a tough time getting to us now!"

"Wendy, are you going to read to us now?" He asked, looking over at her from beneath a pile of blankets draped over his head like the hood of a robe. They were all bound to be quite tired and if nothing else, the book would help them to fall asleep.

So, with a sigh and a roll of his eyes, he threw himself down onto the lump of blankets that was Peter, effectively tackling his friend for the up-teenth time that day, fighting him for the blanket until they were both spectacularly tangled up.
Then, and only when he was satisfied that he had successfully chased the shadows from Peter's eyes, did he settle enough to grin at Wendy expectantly.

Grinning, she picked up a second blanket and threw it in such a manner, that it was quick to cloak James before she scooted closer to the pair. "For boys who have had such a long day, you two are awfully rambunctious. I shouldn't expect any less, considering who I'm talking to, I imagine.."
After all was said and done, Wendy crawled beneath the blankets and shifted to get comfortable. Oh, she would definitely tell them her story, but Peter had not yet smiled and, thus, she looked at him quite expectantly.

When he'd gotten into fights with the lost boys, Peter had discovered and developed one surefire way to cease all problems- and with that in, two hands reached out to grab James about teh waist and began tickling him mercilessly.
It made him smile again, that much was true, but really, tormenting his friend was too much fun to just stop because he'd been able to smile for Wendy.

And because he wasn't used to tickles, Peter easily had James writhing and batting ineffectively at him. Finally, giving in, he cried for mercy, freeing his arms to snag Peter around the middle and send both of them tumbling over to land in an undignified heap next to Wendy, wrapped in a web of blankets.

She would most definitely apologize to them both later, and make it up to them with not one, but two delightful stories.

It was a perfect Christmas, just perfect, and Peter lulled off to sleep with a soft smile playing on his lips. "Goodnight Wendy. Goodnight James."

He threw his left arm across Peter's waist-- they were all so close together that his wrist came to rest on Wendy's ribs-- and all but purring with the security that came with friendship, he fell asleep with goodnight on his lips.

Sleep came easier than it used to.
