[Log: Ongoing] Stirred emotions
When; Thursday afternoon (Dec. 28th)
Rating; PG (so far)
Characters; Desire
cruel_as_love and Mulder
m1jac0ge0
Summary; Mulder is compelled to learn more about this newcomer to the city and Desire always enjoys a new plaything. They meet for coffee and a tour of the town.
Log;
As promised, Desire waited at the carousel for Mulder's arrival. If he took too long, he may have missed his chance, for Desire does not like to be kept waiting and it's interests are fleeting at best.
Still, this new toy intrigued the Endless and it sat, between painted ponies and between genders, and waited. The stoic ones were always so much fun. They bottled their feelings up and kept their darkest, deepest wants secreted away; treasures for Desire to dig up. Mulder would be like a gift to unwrap.

He carefully juggled the bag on top of his own coffeecup, and sat down, sliding the cup that contained Desire's order over and then, sitting down carefully across from him/her, he warmed his hands on his own cup, glad to not be facing the window.
The city could do without him for this brief respite. There were more important things.
Like...Desire, for example.

"Mm. It's delicious. You should try it, Fox."
The man didn't try enough things. He obviously lacked in needs. Fox should have more distractions, in Desire's opinion.

He wanted this to be an idyllic afternoon, but so much else was on his mind. "Why did you come here, Desire?" he asked, "not here, I mean, but to the City? why here, why now? There's so much going wrong. I mean, I'll certainly offer, if you ask it, but I'd think a person of your caliber might require protection in the middle of all this crisis..."

No one should smile as merrily about consuming arachnids as Desire did then, and easily went back to sipping at the cocoa infused drink. Spiders and all.
The next question almost seemed to be given some consideration. Not a lot of consideration, but as much as Desire was willing to give any single matter.
"I came here to see what my siblings were up to... And because there is so much here to interest me. So much desperation and so many strange things to keep every day interesting.
It's so cute that you worry. It is. I have never needed anyone's protection, though. And I've started wars."

It opened awkwardly, spilling seeds upon the table. ((and is there metaphor in that? you bet your bippy!))
He began collecting them up hastily into the palm of his hand, hoping he hadn't spoiled the mood too badly.
"I was attacked by a vampire once," he remarked, "the only thing that saved me was I spilled my sunflower seeds.
Some species of vampires have a sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder ingrained into them. He couldn't take the time to attack me until he'd counted and picked up every individual seed. Good thing, or I wouldn't be here to tell you this story."

"Mm. Careful not to get too excited, Fox, dear. There are decent people watching."
And people did tend to watch Desire. It was one of his/her favourite things about humans.
"I feel almost sorry for vampires. Humanity keeps changing the rules on them. It seems you need to revise the mythology every century to be happy...but imagine how they feel trying to keep up."
It doesn't really care. Desire just finds that inconsistency and fascination with ever-bigger monsters one of humanity's displays of weakness.
"...The vampire fascination has become a metaphor for rape fantasy ever since Stoker set the trend, though. That's rather cute."

Then he found himself thinking about Rayne, and how interesting he had found her when thus far they'd never even met, and Mulder shook his head, wondering if vampires did hold a dangerous fasination for him...
he refocused on Desire.
Watching Desire made all the other things calm to a dull roar. He was certain that this being could do nothing but good, s/he was too beautiful to be anything but pure. Still. Fighting within him also was the maddening thought that if s/he wanted to be sullied, even this public cafe would not be safe from how fast he'd say yes...
