[Log: Ongoing] Stirred emotions

When; Thursday afternoon (Dec. 28th)
Rating; PG (so far)
Characters; Desire [livejournal.com profile] cruel_as_love and Mulder [livejournal.com profile] m1jac0ge0
Summary; Mulder is compelled to learn more about this newcomer to the city and Desire always enjoys a new plaything. They meet for coffee and a tour of the town.
Log;

As promised, Desire waited at the carousel for Mulder's arrival. If he took too long, he may have missed his chance, for Desire does not like to be kept waiting and it's interests are fleeting at best.
Still, this new toy intrigued the Endless and it sat, between painted ponies and between genders, and waited. The stoic ones were always so much fun. They bottled their feelings up and kept their darkest, deepest wants secreted away; treasures for Desire to dig up. Mulder would be like a gift to unwrap.

It didn't occur to him to buy fruit- although had he known Desire wanted some he'd no doubt have gone overboard- but he did buy a package of sunflower seeds. They were a favorite snack of his.
He carefully juggled the bag on top of his own coffeecup, and sat down, sliding the cup that contained Desire's order over and then, sitting down carefully across from him/her, he warmed his hands on his own cup, glad to not be facing the window.
The city could do without him for this brief respite. There were more important things.

Like...Desire, for example.

"I'm not a big fan of sugar. I've always thought it did more harm than good," he said, but leaned forward to taste the drink offered him anyway. He took barely more than a sip; there was a thin sheen of it still on his lip when he moved away from the cup. "interesting," he concluded, "I always thought flavored coffee used poorer beans, since the other ingredients would mask the acridness."

He wanted this to be an idyllic afternoon, but so much else was on his mind. "Why did you come here, Desire?" he asked, "not here, I mean, but to the City? why here, why now? There's so much going wrong. I mean, I'll certainly offer, if you ask it, but I'd think a person of your caliber might require protection in the middle of all this crisis..."

"I can see why." Mulder realized he was staring again, and made up for his bad manners by fidgeting and fumbling with the bag of sunflower seeds.

It opened awkwardly, spilling seeds upon the table. ((and is there metaphor in that? you bet your bippy!))

He began collecting them up hastily into the palm of his hand, hoping he hadn't spoiled the mood too badly.

"I was attacked by a vampire once," he remarked, "the only thing that saved me was I spilled my sunflower seeds.
Some species of vampires have a sort of obsessive-compulsive disorder ingrained into them. He couldn't take the time to attack me until he'd counted and picked up every individual seed. Good thing, or I wouldn't be here to tell you this story."

"I...well, I guess." Ronnie Strickland had been the only 'real' vampire Mulder had met, but for a moment he found himself remembering Kristen Kilar and her ways as she seduced him; the darkness and occultism a thin veil over her desperation.
Then he found himself thinking about Rayne, and how interesting he had found her when thus far they'd never even met, and Mulder shook his head, wondering if vampires did hold a dangerous fasination for him...
he refocused on Desire.

Watching Desire made all the other things calm to a dull roar. He was certain that this being could do nothing but good, s/he was too beautiful to be anything but pure. Still. Fighting within him also was the maddening thought that if s/he wanted to be sullied, even this public cafe would not be safe from how fast he'd say yes...
