Summary; Alexiel seeks Kira out to clear up a few things.
Log;
He'd walked around the square with the carousel in the middle right about now and found nothing particularly interesting; and not dared to stray further so as to not miss Alexiel. She had sounded like she was willing to provide him with some information, something he'd be glad for. The whole matter still wasn't entirely clear to him, even after having gathered some information through the network already.
If he was being truly honest to himself, he had to admit he was a bit nervous. Only once had he met her in person while possessing a body of his own, and the circumstances hadn't exactly been the most pleasant. And now, under different, seemingly more relaxed ones, he didn't know at all how he'd react to her.
Oh well. He reckoned he was fairly good at self-control, so it should not be too great a problem.
Sighing, he raised his gaze from the floor he'd been eyeing idly while leaning on a random wall.
Alexiel felt nervous as well, not because of Kira but how Rosiel reacted to him. While in the past she had been cruel, it was mostly an act, one only Lucifer could see through and his sword consciousness probably did not.
Wearing her usual battle cloak and with a white toga beneath, her brown hair fell down on a side of her torso and she wore a mask to conceal her face. To reach Kira, she took mundane method of transport: her two legs. The Organic Angel strode towards the Carousel where he was waiting for her, always minding to blend and kept an eye she wasn't followed by Rosiel.
His arrival had been a surprise, Alexiel did not know if she felt happy or sad about it. She had hoped Kira would be able to rest in peace after existing during that long as part of Lucifer's human alter ego. Was he real like Setsuna was? Alexiel would find out soon enough.
She could spot him now, leaning on one of the buildings in front of the doomed device of the end of the worlds.
"Kira Sakuya," she addressed him when the angel approached further.
It was really odd how he missed any physical reactions; because in spite of how prepared he thought himself, that voice calling his name would probably have caused some minor ones.
But he was dead, and his body didn't react. Seemed like it was merely a mirage, something to portray the soul.
He really wondered why he'd had that nicotine craving at the beginning then. Not that it mattered; it was gone now. For the better, he'd never truly been fond of the stuff, started it because of the deal and not been able to stop because, damn, humans were so susceptible to addictions!
However, that all ceased to matter now. What mattered was the woman in front of him. There she stood in her warrior attire, concealed well behind many layers of clothing, but still oh so radiant.
The aura was very familiar. Almost soothing and infuriating at the same time. That ambiguity of his feelings toward her would probably never change, and that was what he feared. That he'd never get hid of this odd obsession of his.
He pushed himself off the wall and stood straight to pay her the proper respect. "Alexiel." Simple answer, then silence; he'd see what she wanted to tell him.
Alexiel studied him for a second, his body so cold and without life. She would probably help to imbue warmth and not have Kira's response limited due to his state. But that would come after, they needed to talk first.
"Walk with me," she offered while she turned around and started leaving his side without warning. Alexiel could not remain in one place, she was dynamic to make up for all those eons she was static, frozen in crystal or trapped in Eden. "Walk with me and I will answer the doubts that torment you."
He was taken a bit by surprise by her - well, it was nothing short of a demand. Yes, things definitely hadn't changed between them. He complied as a sword should do (and as was wiser, really, because messing with the Organic Angel is one of the things you Just Don't Do).
Thus, he followed her, staying behind a few steps. He hesitated a bit before speaking. "Our deal, Alexiel. Remember? I want to know... about before."
Alexiel paused and glanced at him over her shoulder. She felt sorry about this spirit, trapped in between, he couldn't be the true Kira Sakuya who died in that car crash nor the demon lord that was at her side.
"The dark soul trapped in the sword was Lucifer's," Alexiel explained him, her voice gentler than usual. Her hands closing on the crest carved on her skin. "He was punished by having his memories removed and his spirit trapped for a great sin." She took a pause. "I was a prisoner since the Beginning, in Eden, a cage garden where I was forced to stay. Lucifer released me from that prison but paid dearly his defiance. We made a promise and we kept it."
The unusual soft tone to her voice didn't go by unnoticed. Kira though rather wished it had not been there. Would probably have made things easier... or not? Hearing her words, though, he didn't quite know what to think, how to react, so he just took it as it was and nodded, knowing she would be aware of his simple approval.
It wasn't easy, being this confused, confused about everything: past, present and future. If Lucifer was Lucifer now, then Sakuya should also be Sakuya, right? Then something such as him shouldn't really exist. In the end, Kira couldn't help but wonder about the very reality of his own being, but he pushed the thoughts back; didn't quite want to think about that right now. It seemed like he would have lots of time for that on his hands, anyway.
He dared another question. "How are you now?"
Alexiel turned and removed her cloak, her mask. She smiled, honestly and truthfully. "Free," she replied, glancing up the sky. "Lucifer and I are finally free." Even her love for Rosiel did not bound her as before, it was different.
She approached Kira, placing a hand on his forehead. "You are wondering about if you are real, aren't you?" she asked, lifting an eyebrow. "You are real. You are as real as Setsuna is and as Sara is. You are yourself and not Lucifer or the young Sakuya who died."
... she just had to go and do that, right? Smiling at him like that, touching him, hand to forehead, innocent enough, but already he could feel that old fierce longing creeping up on him so viciously. He didn't want it. He didn't want it. Shoved it back into a corner or tried and maybe succeeded, maybe.
Free, huh? Good for her. Maybe he could be then, too. Yes, he would make sure to sever all ties here and now.
"Well, that is the logical conclusion, isn't it?" Kira took Alexiel's hand carefully and removed it from his forehead, then let go. "I'll build on that. I'll live here, as much as a dead man can live, and find my own truth. Thank you for meeting me."
Alexiel allowed him to do that and distanced herself. She had forgotten, for a second, Kira's feelings. She had warned his love was futile, because he wasn't Lucifer or her brother, he couldn't count with hers.
"Yes, you can start a life here," continued Alexiel, glancing at the City. "As long this City stands and the worlds don't end." She paused, "I thank you for helping Setsuna and being his friend. I apologize for my treatment but that had to be done. Farewell, Kira Sakuya, find another reason why to live for and fight for. I know is hard," she finished sadly. She knew that very well, Rosiel had been her goal during long eons.
It was odd, really odd what she could do to him; he found himself swallowing after all, a bit, hoping she wouldn't notice, knowing she probably would. It also wasn't easy, because he had the distinct feeling that this was farewell forever, and that evil, treacherous part of him self that still clung to her didn't want to let go just yet. But somehow, her being so different, so friendly, made it easier on him - probably because this simply wasn't the woman in the distance whom his ill-natured obsession had been directed at, but another being, one that needn't be kept close so desperately. He took a deep breath, sighed.
"Thank you." And that was the end of it. "Be well, Alexiel. Goodbye." And that was what it was. Nothing short of sincere either, he could now honestly wish her all the best.
Ah yes, Setsuna... maybe, if it came down to it, the boy had been his reason in the end. Those few years spent in one human body, this very same human body, they were his own truth. But now that was out of his reach as well. Certainly something to regret, but it couldn't be helped. He'd just have to be optimistic for once.
Kira Sakuya walked away from Alexiel and rounded a corner into a rather broad street.
