"I think most people don't talk much about dead people. He probably thought I was dead, seeing as I was dead when he last saw me. Took a bullet from a gun aimed at him." She remembers the way he had held her as she'd died. It had been foreign, the fact that someone would care for her more than as a chess piece in a game of war. But she'd known then that she had proven she was more than a soldier to him, more than an echo of him.
