Log: Complete
When; Jan 7 afternoon
Rating; PG-13?
Characters; Arthur Hellsing [
arthurhellsing] and D (and by extension Left Hand) [
favored_son]
Summary; Arthur curious of his daughter's house guest, he asks the young man out to tea.
Log;
The couple of days has been an experience for the former Hellsing leader that had been certain. To suddenly be alive in strange new world where the dead mingled with the living and bitter enemies were forced to co-exist would be a shock to anyone's system. Luckily Arthur was the adaptable type.
It was kind of frightening at how fast a paced he worked in regards to start the healing process for his family as well as gathering information. However the Vampire Hunter that was staying with Integral was somewhat of a puzzlement. There was something about the couple of transmissions Arthur had read that made him wonder at the connection between the man D and his daughter Integral. What was more curious was that Alucard didn't seem to mind the other man's presence and that brought up question marks in Arthur's mind.
After all Alucard was infamous in his possessiveness over those he held regard for and the regard couldn't get any higher when it came to Integral. Arthur sat within the Cafe waiting patiently for the young man's arrival. This was a mystery that he wanted solved before he went after bigger fish so to speak.

"Sir Hellsing," he greeted with a polite nod. "I hope that I have not kept you waiting too long." That the dhampir would offer such social graces to a near stranger would have spoken volumes to anyone who knew him well, but upon first meeting such a thing simply appeared to be the sign of a well-raised young man. D sat, and the shadows cast by his hat brim retreated just enough to give Arthur a glimpse of his ice-blue eyes.
[<3! Thank you for starting.]

Arthur greeted the young man nodding in return. "No, not at all. It is a pleasure to meet you face to face, D," he replied, before he caught sight of the other man's eyes.
However his expression remained unchanged giving nothing away. He was never one to lay all his cards on the table before the game had even began. Maybe he was reading too much into things but those eyes were quite telling. Quite telling indeed.
Arthur wasted no time in waving a waitress over to take their order before he turned his attention back to D. "So is your parasite friend with you today or is he still being punished?"
[ooc; no problem. ^_^]

Although he was not particularly thirsty (for tea or anything else), he placed an order for politeness's sake. He did not remove his hat, for then it would likely be quite clear to Arthur just who he was, but the hunter had to wonder how much his grandfather had already picked up on. Integral had not spoken of Arthur Hellsing in great detail, but D knew that the former head of Hellsing was no fool.
"It appears that you have been busy since your arrival," D noted mildly. "I trust that your efforts have been productive so far?"

Considering he was dead, he didn't really need to drink or eat anything but he continued to so out of habit. Though he only ordered a cup of tea this time around. Arthur looked over the shadowy features of the man before him. Noting that the man's poker face was as impressive as him own. He had prided himself on being able to read people but D was doing a fairly good job of giving nothing away.
His only clues were those familiar blue eyes and those striking features. Was he reading too much into things? He wasn't so sure but if anyone could keep up appearances it was Arthur Hellsing.
"Yes, it would seem I had to make some rounds but thus far everything has been very productive," Arthur admitted, noting his tiny success with breaking through to Walter. "So how did you come to be staying with Integral and the others?" he asked, only looking away for a moment to thank the waitress for her swift return with their orders.

Truth was usually the best policy, and in this instance, he felt no need to lie. However, he did not feel the need to disclose any more than Arthur had asked for. "Alucard and I sensed each other upon my arrival. Once we had ascertained that neither one of us was a threat to the other, he offered his assistance. I accepted it, in light of the situation."
no subject
"That's interesting. Alucard has never been the generous type," Arthur finally said, his eyes looking over the other man even more thoroughly than had been. "You must have intrigued him," he added, his poker face in full effect.
Those eyes...her eyes...no he wasn't reading too much into things. Arthur knew his daughter's heart and the last thing he saw before he died was her eyes looking down at him in despair. He took another sip of his tea, trying to calm his inner nerves, even if they did not show upon his face or within in his body. He was pretty sure that if he did have a heartbeat he would be pounding in his ears right about now.

Did Arthur know? It was difficult to judge, but D had the feeling that the man's suspicions were growing stronger. He would not lie to his grandfather, but he was uncertain how the knowledge that Alucard might one day produce a child with Integra would be received.
no subject
It was surprising how calm his voice was considering the rage he was feeling. He knew Integral regarded Alucard quite highly but this was far worse than he had imagined.
If this was to be the future than he really did not want Alucard prancing after Walter on whims. He and Alucard would have to talk and have a long talk at that. Who knew being dead could help cover your emotions so well.

"At times, it proves rather convenient. Their interest makes them careless."
The dhampir could feel his parasite's humor, even though the creature remained silent and hidden. He ignored it.
no subject
There honestly was no reason to keep up the charade. He loved his daughter and if this was the future decision she had mentioned to him then he would have to learn to accept it.
That did not mean he wouldn't seek Alucard out. There was no way he would allow that vampire to maintain dual relationships with both Integral and Walter. He would have to chose one. After all Arthur had given up much for Integral's mother why should Alucard pay Integral the same repsect?

The dhampir sighed and leaned back in his chair, arms crossed loosely over his chest. Arthur did not seem pleased, and who could blame him? D did not expect acceptance from his grandfather. He was a halfbreed, accustomed to being shunned and hated.
No, D's concern was not for himself, but for his parents and how Arthur would view them now that he knew their possible future. Still, the hunter doubted that he could have kept the secret from Arthur without refusing to meet the man face-to-face.

It wasn't the boy's fault that his father was a cheating good-for-nothing! he quickly pulled out his lighter and lit up.
"So how far ahead in the future are you?" Arthur asked, before taking a puff of his cigar trying to calm his nerves.
no subject
"Roughly ten thousand years," D replied calmly. He tilted his head to the side, ever so slightly, in an expression of curiosity. "You're angry, but not with me." The observation was made purely because D wished to know where he now stood in Arthur Hellsing's estimation. It would make future interaction easier.
no subject
"Why would I be angry at you? you can't exactly choose to whom you were born now can you?" Arthur added flatly, taking another puff of his cigar.
Seriously how dare Alucard be pursuing both Integral and Walter. Oh Arthur was well aware of his shortcomings but when he settled down he had settled down. This was such an outrage that he really wanted to kill something. Namely Alucard.
no subject
If Arthur was not angry with D, then the next most likely target was Alucard. The hunter would have been worried if he did not know how resilient his father was from firsthand experience.
no subject
God he hoped the boy had a proper name it would be too shameful if he were truly only named D. Just because his grandson was a half-vampire didn't mean he shouldn't have a proper name and title. After all Integral and Alucard were both from noble families.
no subject
The parasite snickered softly and added, voice somewhat muffled by D's other palm, "You can see why he'd rather just be called 'D'."
no subject
Oh he was still mad at Alucard but this was quite amusing. He had to admit. "Between you and me I will refer to you as Dante," he said with a half smile.
no subject
Left Hand was apparently enjoying this development immensely. D could feel it snickering. He tightened his fist in warning, but the laughter did not stop.
"Is there anything else you would like to know?"
no subject
There would be no way that they wouldn't have some type of fallout after this. He was angry at Alucard most definitely and well Integral would likely view his rage as prying into her decisions. He could think ahead he just couldn't feel rational when he did.
no subject
Then he was gone, having disappeared almost as effectively as Alucard, despite being incapable of phasing through walls.
