Log: Ongoing
When; Jan. 9th
Rating; PG at least ( probably higher considering this crowd 9_9 )
Characters; Xulchilbara
revelations9x6 Dexter Morgan
dark_passenger
Summary; Dexter wonders if he is the only one...
Someone is talking
But its not conversation,
Sounds more like a voice in my head.
It says
I live in nightmares
I'm the new God of panic
And Im waiting for you to come home to me.
Log;
The Red God was all things and none; everywhere, and nowhere.
But if there was a place that could be called 'His', it was in darkness...the darkness of the mind. A place few people admitted to possessing, much less understanding.
Thus, He recognized easily someone who was nothing but that cold emptiness. The hollow place that only became filled by things others would call 'horrific', 'deranged', 'disgusting'.
Xulchilbara had recognized this one from even across the city, but He also knew that poor Dexter was somewhat ambilvalent about the God.
Time to rectify that...

This new and strange world left him with dozens of unanswered questions, but as far as emotions went, he wasn't sad, angry, or in any way upset. Dexter didn't have feelings, at least none that weren't for show.
He kept a low profile since arriving at the city, give or take a few incidents. His first encounter with the cult being one of them. Everything about this cult intrigued and excited him. It was all so fascinating, and the more he wanted to know about it the louder the laughing echoed through his brain.
At least someone was having fun.
The Dark Passenger sat patiently, twirling his fingers, grinning and chuckling in anticipation, because the future was definitely dark.

A simple trick of the light?...Perhaps...
But when they stilled once again, a lean, youngish man with hair the color of a raven's wing, and eyes that should not have been human....(could not belong to a human) sat at ease in one of the chairs not far from Dexter.
They eyed Dexter in consideration; sized him up.
Then He broke into a smile that could have been meant to look genial, but generally came off as unsettling paired with those wrong eyes.
He sat with one ankle hooked over the knee of the opposite leg, hands calmly folded in his lap.
Ironic that the both of them had to work so hard at appearing human....but where Dexter was unaware of emotion, or felt none at all, Xulchilbara felt only a limited range of them, and thus was fascinated by the range of reactions that humans displayed around him.
Tentatively He allowed the strangle-hold He kept over his chaotic essense to loosen fractionally.
To some the presence of the Red God registered as a dull throb...perhaps a pleasing sensation, perhaps not..as with all things related to Xulchilbara, the line between pleasure and pain was often indeterminate.
To others it registered as a headache; a strange buzzing in the mind of many hundreds of voices speaking in tongues....or perhaps not even that easily described.
Curiously, He watched Dexter with eyes that seemed to take on a dim reddish-tinted glow.
" Hello, Dexter Morgan."

"Greetings," Dexter welcomed the Red God with his generic smart-ass tone of voice. He knew that this God would show eventually, but wasn't expecting Him this soon. He had to try his hardest to keep a smirk from inching across his face.
"Couldn't you have knocked?" he asked, his gaze held somewhere beyond his computer screen, on the inhuman red glow.

While yes, the God could have been entirely polite and human about things...but a few parlor tricks generally got the questions regarding what He really was out of the way without too much fuss.
"You invited me, Dexter." He reminded the younger man, His voice a caress of sound that one could wrap themselves in.
" Shall we drop the charade?" He asked, and the smile took on a more manical tint, the eyes a swirl of flame.
The charade meaning that play-acting both did in order to appear less threatening...more human.
" ...And you have questions, Hmm?" He prompted, one dark brow raised in response to the flippant tone in Dexter's voice.

He sat back in his chair, placing both hands in his lap. "Only a few." Dexter responded in a dark tone. "I don't even recall how we became acquainted," he raised his eyebrows, "Of course, I certainly heard many things about you, but how were you introduced to my little secrets?"
Dexter's gaze was still held on those devilish eyes. If Dexter did dream, they would certainly haunt them.

Strangely, one incarnation of Lucifer Morningstar was within the city as well, and yet not considered anywhere near as evil as the Red God. How ironic.
He leaned foreward to rest His chin on His hand after propping his elbow on the arm of the chair, and continued to smile that knowing smile at Dexter.
" To explain that, you must first decide what rumors you have heard are entirely true, and what is not." Xulchilbara replied, that voice a match to the eyes in the same ways that it could work itself under the skin.
....That it seemed to mock, and yet caress the listener.
" I am a creature of darkness. I was created from the hidden places in the human psyche...I know many things, and know them best when they call to that side of my nature."
A cryptic response at best, but entirely true for all of that.
" If you are looking for a more easily acceptable answer, than simply put; I saw the secrets you wanted me to see.
...You wonder if you are alone, and you wonder what I am."
His eyes flared briefly with a violet colored light.
" Are you still deciding whether or not you want to kill me?...Or have you finally understood that what you do, and what I do are essentially the same?"

Dexter stood and walked around the desk that he was hiding behind, and leaned on the front of it, placing his hands on the front corner at his sides, to hold him up.
"I might as well speak out loud," he said mockingly, "so that you won't have to dig through my thoughts."
"Because, after all, our friendship wouldn't be healthy if we weren't open and honest with one another..." he chuckled to himself. He enjoyed mocking people, and had come to enjoy mocking 'gods' even more.
"While all of my life I had hoped and dreamed that I was not alone, I'm afraid I rather liked being the only one who carried out such tasks."

Xulchilbara's smile never wavered, but he gave a mild shrug in response.
" I am not known for my patience...but I am also not so strict on first opinions that they can not be later ammended."
His eyes danced with a manic, discordant sort of approval.
" Mmm, honesty is always best.." He replied flippantly, since generally Xulchilbara could hear thought, and more specifically emotion if they were more geared more towards the darker ends of the human range of emotion.
What Dexter may not know, was the Red God was incapable of lying.
Most may not believe it, considering He was a master at speaking in riddles...yet, it was entirely true: The Red God was a creature created to bring dark truths to light, and thus could not tell an outright lie.
Dexter's last statement drew another laugh from Xulchilbara. It was rare anyone inspired him to real laughter, and thus Dexter's flippancy, was excused in His eyes.
" Being meticulous is one thing, my dear, but I have answered you truly, and now I only ask that you return the courtesy; Do you intend to purge this city as you purged your home?"
Another raised brow.
" If so, then perhaps we might be able to offer one another a measure of assistance."

The Need hadn't proded Dexter yet, but it was certainly lurking, sooner or later, Dexter would need a kill to satisfy his hunger. As far as what he wanted to do, he wasn't sure yet. Everything must be planned and thought out before decisions were made.
Dexter was a very precise and careful monster.
There were only two other beings that ever questioned Dexter, and they were the only ones that Dexter didn't pretend to be his kind-hearted, smiling, alter-ego. But they weren't here right now. One was, almost unfortuneately taken care of, and the other, well...he had it coming.
But his trip down the rabbit hole left Dexter confused. He still longed for certain aspects of his old life, yet yearned for other, more exciting, things.
The offer was quite tempting.
