Summary; Everyone is seeing thier worst fears, so Xulchilbara lets his own aura 'turn down' the curse for Hotaru, Henry, and Alessa

Log;

So much fear in the air.
It tended to bring out the predator in Xulchilbara, but He could not indulge in such things just yet.

Shifting Hotaru slightly in His arms, He held her close and stepped easily from the darkness beyond the light caste by the old hurricane lamps on the tables near His bed.
Bare feet were silent on the floor, but it was like a sigh of relief to finally cross the blood circle painted thick on the floor.

The God shrugged His shoulders some again, for Hotaru's hands clinging to His shirt made the fabric brush across the scratches Rangiku had left on His back.
It wasn't painful, really, but without using a measure of the Hand of Power that governed flesh, healing was betimes an itchy process.

The dull glow of the laptop sitting on the massive bed caste Henry in further shadows since the hearth had died down in the Master's absence.
Once He passed by it, however, it flared back to life with a cheerful glow.

" There now. Nothing to hurt you, and no way for you to hurt either myself, or dear Henry." Xulchilbara said, His voice a soothing warmth..like a favored blanket one could wrap themselves in and feel safe from all the pain and sadness in the world.

Flame-wreathed eyes flicked to Henry, and He smiled softly.

" Hotaru, dear, this is Henry. He has been having a difficult day as well..."
Xulchilbara did not elaborate on Henry's relationship with the God, for it was far too complex to be simply put as 'son' or 'lover'.

Tear-filled violet eyes glanced up at the other person in the room, fingers clenched tightly into the material of Xulchilbara's shirt. A whimpering sniffle and she nodded a greeting before burying her head back into his comforting warmth. Warm.

Like Poppa...

The overwhelming fear still beat wildly at the back of her mind, but at least now she wasn't alone. At least she now had someone she...trusted?...to try and soothe away the fears. Of course, thoughts of trust and comfort only served to bring her mind back to Archer and the way he had acted. She knew it wasn't his fault, knew that he was just reacting to his fears the same way she was reacting to hers. But...it had still hurt. Still hurt to know that she was a source of pain for him, even unbidden.

Henry nodded as well. The girl brought out a small smile in him- he was trying to be encouraging. She'd obviously had a really rough time of it recently.

He had, too, to tell the truth. His hair stuck up at all angles, and he looked pale and tired. His mind had been tugging him in fifteen different directions, all of them pointing towards total insanity. Funny how only now was he thinking he might be going insane. Damned Joseph-- why did the man have to show up now?

Here, though, he didn't have to worry about any of that. Xulchibara took it away in a wash of total chaos. It was funny how reassuring it could be now.

He finally ran a hand through his hair, pushing most of it back in place. "I'm sorry you've had such a bad day, Hotaru. Sometimes these curse days can be like that. Are you feeling any better...? Can I get you anything...?"

Slipping down out of Xulchilbara's arms, she clasped her hands in front of her and bowed, dark-amethyst eyes watching him silently.

"A little...since Rosu-san brought me here."

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-13 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"A...alright."

Settling herself between them, she folded her hands in her lap before continuing.

"I...I didn't have a mother. Momma died when I was a baby, so it was just Poppa and I. Poppa...was a scientist. He was trying to study something strange. A hole in space, that he thought was a passageway to another world."

She left her hand wrapped in his, finding the touch to be comforting. He reminded her of her father, his voice soothing her fears and chasing away the panic that still fluttered in the back of her mind.

"....Xulchibara?"

Alessa's voice was hoarse from crying and whimpering earlier in the day. The pain of Alessa's old burns was all too real for her, and she had to refrain from looking down at her bare arms to see the burns that were "there" all too vividly for her comfort. Xulchibara had managed to calm her down and tell her that it was a curse, nothing more. It would be all right after midnight.

Blue eyes squinted as she made out another figure in Xulchibara's arms. "...who is that?" She asked, curious. The figure seemed small, and Alessa took a quick look inside said figure's mind. It was an innocent, a poor frightened innocent. Poor thing, she thought, rising from where she sat in a shadowed corner of the room and approaching the two.

Hotaru flinched back slightly in surprise, drawing closer to the man with the burning eyes.

"R..Rosu-san....who is that?"

[identity profile] alessalearnt.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Alessa curled against Xulchibara thankfully, the "pain" from her burns subsiding as his aura overwhelmed everything else. She smiled softly at Hotaru, and gave her a little wave. "Hello, Hotaru...my name's Alessa, like he said. Please, continue your story."

She was intrigued at hearing what this young girl had to say; a person's story was very important to Alessa, having a story of her own to tell.

She is an innocent, Alessa mentally stated to Xulchibara, although she was sure he knew that Hotaru was an innocent already.

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
With a shy smile, the dark-haired girl nodded, cuddling up easily against Xulchilbara's side without the slightest hint of the usual fear that seemed to suffuse most people when they came in contact with the Red God. Alessa didn't seem threatening, in fact Hotaru felt a certain degree of kinship with the older girl.

Rosu-san said...she's like me...right?

"When I was only 5 years old, there was...an explosion. In Poppa's lab. Everyone was killed, and Poppa was the only one who survived. Poppa...he was so sad, he wanted to do anything to bring me back. But...what Poppa didn't know was that the explosion was caused by something evil on the other side of the hole he was studying. A demon, called Pharoah-90. He told Poppa that he could bring me back, if Poppa served him. And Poppa...Poppa agreed. He sold his soul. He brought me back, and fixed my body as best as he could. And...I thought everything was OK."

She brushed a strand of black hair our of her face, tucking it behind her ear with slender fingers.

"I...never had any friends in school. The other kids thought I was weird, and...because I was different."

As if to punctuate, she bit her lip and pressed one fingernail into her palm, gritting her teeth as it drew blood. Holding her other hand over the small cut, she concentrated as the pale energy coalesced, healing away the injured flesh.

"They didn't understand...thought it was gross. Called me freak, and moster and so many other awful things..."

[identity profile] wisdom-rcvr.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Henry had listened quietly, not quite leaning against Xulchibara, but hovering well enough. He was glad for the contact, and smiled when Alessa came in- but that soon devolved into worried glances at her. He had missed her journal entry, but he didn't need that to tell that she was in pretty bad shape.

He had scooted over to allow Alessa to lean against the god, and he put his arms around her for a moment, trying to give her as much support as he could. Even when he pulled away, he left a hand on her shoulder. Hopefully, her mind would quiet in the same way that his had.

Hotaru's story started to sound familiar after awhile...and of course that must have been why Xulchibara was so keen on having her meet Alessa. What a poor girl, to have to live through that sort of treatment... "I'm sorry, Hotaru...that was awful of them to treat you that way."

[identity profile] alessalearnt.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
"...Your father....he was...he was broken..." The words passed Alessa's lips before she could stop them; the mental image of Dahlia's expression when she saw what the cult had done to her daughter flitted through her mind. She knew in that moment that Hotaru did not have to say any more. They were so much alike. So much alike.

Compulsively, Alessa reached over and pulled the younger girl into a tight hug. "I know how you feel," she whispered. "I know exactly how you feel..."

She released her gently, and pressed her palms together. "I have powers too..." Alessa willed her power to create a black flower, much like the one she had created that night she, Xulchibara, and Henry had shared together. She held it out to Hotaru. "Here, you can have it."

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"The...thank you, Alessa-san."

Hotaru took the flower and cradled it in her hands, studying the black petals. She was slightly surprised when Alessa pulled her into a hug. It felt...nice.

"But...that wasn't the worst part, though. I...I could deal with the way they treated me..I..was used to it."

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded at Henry's words. He was right, it had been awful. But...that at least had been bearable...

"As I got older, I started to have attacks, where my body wouldn't work. It was hard to breathe, and it was so painful. What...what I didn't know was that when Poppa sold his soul to Pharoah-90, that..he'd also put a demon inside me. It...started taking over, every so often. That was...when I met her. Tsukino Chibiusa. She was 8, younger then me. I was sitting in the park, and her hat blew away. I saw it fly by and caught it for her. She skinned her knee while chasing it, and I healed it for her. She...didn't think it was gross. She actually...thought it was neat. Chibiusa was...my first friend."

She smiled warmly at thoughts of the pink-haired little girl.

"She was the first one who really wanted to be my friend. And she introduced me to her friends. But...they didn't see me the same way as she did..."

[identity profile] wisdom-rcvr.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Henry closed his eyes and sighed slightly as Xulchibara gently prodded him. This was so much better. He should've stopped talking to that thing in the ceiling long ago.

He agreed with Xulchibara's words. Yes, I think that would be for the best...she's been through so much. And we know what it's been like to be alone...she shouldn't have to go through that here. Do you think we could...? Maybe she'd agree to it. She doesn't seem to hate us, like the rest of the people in the city...

Henry blinked and leaned forward, looking sadly at Hotaru. "I'm sorry they didn't feel like that...it's so hard to find good people, people who really want to be your friend..." He didn't want to ask about the demon part. That would hardly be polite, but it made him angry. To force something like that into a child...

Henry gulped, then looked to Alessa and Hotaru, waiting for the girl to continue her story.

[identity profile] alessalearnt.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Alessa listened to the rest of Hotaru's story in silence.

Yes...let's take her in. I like her. She felt a strong connection with Hotaru. To meet someone who had gone through similar experiences...she felt closer to Hotaru than she did to Heather, even.

"I'm glad you found a friend," Alessa said, genuinely happy for her.

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
With a smile, Hotaru nodded to Alessa.

"I'm glad too. Usagi-chan was kind to me too. And...it was nice. Things were happy. But then... things changed. Chibiusa-chan and her friends weren't...normal people. They were soldiers. Soldiers charged with protecting our world. They each were protected by one of the planets of the solar system, given power by that planet's patron god. They were...destined to fight the demons that Poppa was serving."

"They...didn't trust me, because of Poppa's research. And then...I found out the real reason why they were afraid of me. I...was one of them. Blessed by Saturn. The planet of Ruin."

She shifted slightly, sitting up straighter.

"I found out that we were all originally from the past. When the demons had attacked a thousand years ago, the queen of the Silver Millenium used her power to send all of us to be reborn in the future. But...I wasn't like them. Even in the past, the Soldier of Saturn was...never supposed to awaken. Because my power....is Silence. The destruction of everything."

Her lower lip quivered slightly, and she nuzzled closer to Xulchilbara's warmth.

"The Outer Senshi; Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune...they told the others that I needed to be killed. For the sake of the world..."

[identity profile] wisdom-rcvr.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
"What?" Henry's brow knotted. "But...if you were one of them-?" He shook his head. "That's not fair..."

People had decided that Alessa needed to die, too. Henry's hand on her shoulder tightened- he had to remind himself that those horrible people had met their end.

"Hotaru...don't keep going if you don't want to, but...what did they do?" The question was timid and worried.

[identity profile] alessalearnt.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Like Christabella and her cult," Alessa whispered, venom in her voice. She couldn't help but feel a surge of hatred whenever she thought of them, of what they did to her and her mother. It made her angry, so angry, even after all of these years.

"You don't have to continue if you don't want to," Alessa restated what Henry had said. "I know how hard it is to tell stories like this one."

And yet, she was curious. She wanted to know of Hotaru, too, had managed to become triumphant over her enemies.

[identity profile] silence-bringer.livejournal.com 2007-01-14 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
She shook her head.

"It's alright. I...I don't blame them. They were just...doing what they thought was right. They were trying to protect the world in the way that they thought they needed to."

"But...Usagi-chan and Chibiusa-chan didn't agree. They didn't think it was right that I should have to die for the sake of the world. Usagi-chan especially, because she's the sort of pure soul who loves everyone and wants to make a world where everyone can be happy. Usagi...she was the reincarnation of the Silver Millenium's princess. The one who everyone loved and served. She...wouldn't let them kill me. But they kept arguing with her, kept telling her that if she let me live, it would spell disaster. That one life was less important then the fate of the world. That was...when the demon inside me awoke. Mistress-9. I...don't remember very much from then. I remember looking at myself, from inside my mind. Almost like watching a movie. Mistress-9...told Sailormoon that she would let me go if Usagi-chan gave her the Holy Grail. The Outer senshi were yelling at her, telling her that she wasn't the true Messiah, that she didn't have the right to give the Grail to anyone. But...Usagi-chan wanted to save me. So...she did it. Mistress-9 took the Holy Grail from Sailor Moon. From Usagi-chan. She threw it into the portal that Poppa had opened, and they brought chaos down on the world. The Outer Senshi blamed Usagi-chan, saying that she'd doomed them all. But...she wouldn't believe that it was over that easily. She kept fighting, just like she'd fought before. She thought...that she could save the world again, like before. And then...there was a voice in my head. Pushing back Mistress-9, pushing back everything. And...the next thing I knew, I was standing there, as Sailor Saturn. I...all that I remember was the voice in my head, telling me to fulfill my purpose. To bring down the Silence and return everything to nothingness in order to stop the evil. I..I remember looking at Sailormoon. She begged me to stop, that there was another way, that it didn't have to be that way. But...I just smiled and shook my head. And then...I dove into the chaos. And I brought down my glaive. And then....nothingness. That's when I woke up here..."
