When; January 16th,
Rating; G
Characters; Oosaki Nana (
nee_nana)
Summary; Nana arrives alone and confused.
Log;
She hadn't seen a carousel in years. Carousels were often associated with childhood memories and the good that were supposed to go with them, but hers hardly deserved any attention. It wasn't something she liked remembering. So she stood there, watching the horses go round and round. It put to mind a rather awful parody of how people and life could be.
We think we move forward but we're stuck right where we are, going around in circles and not knowing any better. It hurt to think. It hurt to feel. So many things had happened in so short a time. Hachi was pregnant. And the child was either Nobu's or Takumi's. And Nobu said that he'd always used a condom when he'd had sex with Hachi. Which meant that the kid could only be Takumi's.
She looked at the carousel again, looking so hard that her vision wavered and blurred for an instant. She wasn't quite sure how she got to this place; the last memory she could recall was of her sitting at the table of the apartment she shared with Hachi, and Takumi was seated across her, his arm around Hachi.
They were getting married, he'd said. MARRIED.
And all Hachi had done was sit. And sit. With nothing to say at all.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Oosaki Nana turned her eyes up to the sky and then glanced over her shoulder, the sound of a clock ticking loud in her ears. She looked back to the carousel, trying to focus on the horses, still as they were, frozen in mid-stride.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Stop it. She curled her fingers into her palms, fisting them tight in irritation. She didn't know why it bothered her, but it did. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Time was passing fast and she still couldn't remember.
The glasses. Tick, tock, tick, tock. What did she do with the glasses? Tick, tock, tick, tock. Were they broken?
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
She pressed her fisted hands to her ears in an attempt to block out the sound. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Tick, tock, tick, tock. Tick, tock, tick, tock. But it wouldn't leave her alone. It just wouldn't leave her alone.
Hachi...
