Log;
Lucci was convinced that grocery shopping was the most annoying thing ever created by mankind, followed by kindergartens. He was used to opening the fridge and finding exactly what he wanted, but Naoto had decided to get on his nerves and not bought the stuff he liked. Great.

So, he went out despite his pissed off mood, heading for the store with Hattori firmly perched on his shoulder. The bird didn’t mind the trip into the City at all, since it didn’t dare go outside in this dangerous, foreign place. One never knew what could happen in a city like this.

Lucci strolled through the crowded, murky streets of the City, not paying any attention to the other citizens until he noticed something odd, something he hadn’t seen in a while.

Shoulder-length black, straight hair, sharp nose, bright eyes and the smell of flowers.

In this case, that “something” was far from being a bad thing. He couldn’t help but smirk maniacally as he approached the woman from the back like the sneaky assassin he was, grabbing her shoulder with one hand to stop her in her tracks. “Hello, Nico Robin,” he whispered with his mouth just inches away from her ear, barely able to contain his perverse glee, “It’s been a while. I’d like you to come with me for a moment, please.”

Robin wasn’t sure why she had gone out. Maybe it was to escape Sanji’s brooding stares, Luffy’s usual, comforting antics and Zoro’s nonchalance about everything. She loved them so much, but sometimes it was downright frustrating to be in their presence, so that’s why she needed to get out every now and then. That, and she needed some time to think. Many things were going on and she felt the need to think about everything carefully, just like she was used to.

She had been walking to nowhere, really, following wherever her feet would take her while she mused about recent happenings. However, her thoughts were violently interrupted by the sudden feeling of an approaching danger, and a life danger at that. She remembered that she had felt the same sort of aura before, but she couldn’t place it until she felt someone touching her shoulder and heard the voice she never wanted to hear again. No. Not him.

“Where do you want me to go?” she asked, calmer than she had anticipated.

Lucci didn’t answer her oh-so obvious question, but instead, he gently pushed her forward towards an almost hidden side street and from there, into a deserted, filthy alley that smelled suspiciously much like fish. Without any words, he turned her around and grabbed her throat with one hand, roughly pushing her against the cold surface.
“If you try that hand-growing shit on me, you’re dead,” he said in a tone like he was talking about the weather forecast instead of doing horrible things. “How are you enjoying your stay in this wretched place?”

Robin hadn’t expected the sudden outburst of violence; it completely ruined the small plan she had been conducting in her mind to do a Seis Fleur Clutch on him, breaking his back with a bit of luck so she could escape. She grimaced as her head hit the wall; her hands immediately shot out to her throat, trying to loosen his iron grip to some extent, but to no avail.
“I was doing perfectly fine until now, congratulations,” she said, while she was trying to kick his shins with a stiletto heeled foot.

Lucci ignored her petty tries to make him let go of her as long as she didn’t sprout any hands; anything else was probably too ‘weak’ to hurt him anyway. He normally didn’t like threatening people like that so quickly; he preferred making his victim believe that they still had a chance to survive, while in fact, their deaths were already sealed. But any involvement of multiple limbs could definitely turn the situation around, and that just happened to be the last thing he wanted. “I’m so very glad to hear that. However, I’m certainly not pleased by the fact that you’re trying to put Naoto against me; something I don’t appreciate at all.”

Robin knew she had to act very fast if she wanted to return to the Going Merry without all of her bones broken. “I intend to do anything to keep my friends safe,” she said viciously, while she grew two hands on the ground, grabbing his legs and sprouting another set of hands on his hips; which firmly gripped his back.

Lucci didn’t hesitate as he was being assaulted by her Devil Fruit; he muttered “Shigan,” almost inaudibly and stabbed one the arms with his finger, making the limbs retreat as the damage hit their owner’s arm. He stared at Robin in annoyance before his fist hit her face, making the woman flinch as she was being beaten. He used the opportunity to grab a hold of her hair, pulling her head up with a distasteful scowl. Filthy woman.

“I’m shocked. You actually can take care of yourself? I thought you needed a permanent bodyguard to accompany you on walks, because you’re just that weak,” he said with faked surprise, brining his face closer to hers while doing so. “Jyabura’s not always there to follow you like a goddamn puppy and I’m fairly sure you already noticed.”

Robin coughed in pain and snorted rigorously, trying to control her anger and feeling of complete disgrace as she looked at him straight in the eye, expression both filled with rage and determination. “I love him… But you don’t understand things like that,” she said, suddenly feeling proud which was completely ridiculous considering the situation, but she was under the impression that it was the only thing she was stronger in.

“Bullshit. Found someone else who could protect you again?” he sneered, her words sounding like it was plucked straight out some crappy romance novel. “Because that’s what you’re good at, right? Making people believe you’re absolutely amazing,” he said the last word like it was something utterly vile, emphasizing this by tightening the grip on her throat, “While you’re just a filthy bitch who just doesn’t know when she’s supposed to die.”

“Speak of me as you like,” she managed to bring out hoarsely, still tugging at his hand, trying to set herself free in some way. “At least I still have some sense of morality left.” Of course she knew that she had done horrible things in the past, but this was now and she didn’t plan on betraying her nakama ever again. Especially not after the disaster called Enies Lobby; she knew better now than not to trust in her nakama’s strength.

“Decent people don’t betray others and leave them for dead, Nico Robin,” he said; it sounded too automatic, too forced, as if it was something that he had heard all his life. The bird on his shoulder cooed reprimanding, staring at the woman like she was a hungry cat who was about to devour him. Such irony.

Despite the grim situation, Robin managed to smile a bit; the man was completely contradicting his whole existence without noticing. “That doesn’t make you very decent either, don’t you think?” she gently said, forgetting the possible consequences she could’ve called upon herself with that remark.

Lucci quickly pulled her towards him and immediately slammed her harshly against the wall again; the back of her head hit the stone surface with a dull sound. “You’re not in the position to make cheeky remarks, since you’re not very far away from having your throat cut,” he snarled, inwardly enjoying her tries to aggravate him; not many people back talked at moments like these. So he obviously had to make the situation a little bit clearer, as she was downright mocking him and thinking that she’d leave the alley alive. He wasn’t going to kill her, oh no, he didn’t like killing people without a solid reason. Even though Nico Robin was a hunted woman in his world, she wasn’t in this one, so that left no reason for him to get rid of her. But it was mostly to have some fun with her, to make her shiver in fear at the very thought of him. He put his other hand on her belly, sprawling his fingers and grinning sadistically; Hattori cooed in alarm.

“I should just choke you and make a hole in your stomach for good measure, don’t you think?”

Robin felt like all the air was being pushed out of her when she hit the wall again; her head hurt immensely and it had definitely smashed the fear back into her brain, which had probably been his intent. She suddenly regretted her comment very much; she should’ve realised before that no mockery against Rob Lucci would go unpunished. Her eyes started to sting and she saw nothing but a blur for a few moments while she managed to repress the tears that were trying to make their way out of her eyes. Just moments ago she had felt so strong, but now it felt as if she could crumble any moment. She exhaled heavily and refused to say anything, not granting him that pleasure.

Her silence annoyed Lucci; she was supposed to make a snarky remark now or start blabbering love nonsense again, but instead, she just waited for him to make his move. Apparently she wanted to get hurt really badly and who was he to deny such an unspoken request? He grabbed her head once again and let go of her throat, but didn’t linger as he slammed her to the ground, hearing something crack; he hoped that it was that pointy nose of hers. “You’re absolutely repulsive,” he said, staring down at her with a disgusted look before his foot hit her face hard with a muted ‘thump’.

Robin made no noise when she hit the cold ground, but instead, she flinched at the sudden kick, gasping as she registered a sharp pain in her cheekbone and nose; she tasted blood and quickly bit her quivering lip to keep herself from making any sounds. This wasn’t as horrible as those hellish, humiliating hours in Spandam’s clutches, but it sure came close. She felt helpless and absolutely miserable. Maybe he was right, maybe she had to die, after all. She only brought trouble, sadness and worry to the people she loved.

Lucci grinned when he realised that he had definitely won this round; he’d broken most of her pride and that was enough for now. He got down to her level and sat back on his heels, eyeing her casually and with no sign of remorse. “I hope you’ve realised that I’m going to be watching every step you make. Everything you do. If I find out that you’ve been bothering Naoto again, I will make sure that you’ll wish that your bitch of a mother never gave birth to you, understand?” He leaned a bit towards her with a slight sense of satisfaction and whispered: “Or I might just make sure that you will never be able to give birth to that filthy kid of yours.”

With that, he got on his feet, turned around and walked away, leaving Robin on the ground like a broken, melancholic pile of clothes and blood.

Grocery shopping. Best thing ever.
