Summary; The evening after it all blows up

The night sky was clear, stars dotting the darkness like diamonds on velvet. The woman perched on a corner of the roof of the warehouse hadn't noticed such a beautiful sky, however. Rangiku was absorbed in her own thoughts... so absorbed that she hadn't even spoken to the vigilant gray cat sitting quietly next to her. Her eyes were too busy aimlessly staring out over a city that had dulled to her over the last two days.
Her robes had been left piled next to the bedside after returning from her fight with Aizen, and she hadn't bothered to put on the uniform of her office since. Instead, she was covered in a plain, heavy kimono she'd found one afternoon not too long ago. Even through the heavy material, though, her skin prickled up with the chill of the evening air.
Haineko rumbled a soft purr and turned to nuzzle at her mistress' hair, but Rangiku didn't turn into the show of affection from her partner. She remained still, staring straight ahead.
