Summary; Smee gets kicked off the Jolly Roger for standing up to Jas, and spends the night at Zaheela's house in her guest room and discovers the miracles of TV and bonds with a chocobo over sappy movies
Log;
Smee stormed down off the gangplank, absolutely furious. He felt angrier than he had in ages, and yet...in that anger, there was a small glimer of pride that he had never felt before. He had....stood up for himself. Not only just himself, but against...against Jas. Oh dear. This would take some repairing, but....he would wait until the pirate captain cooled off a bit to go and talk to him and try to reason with him. Jas was obviously too keyed up right now, so there was no way that he would listen to reason.
He slowed his walk a bit, before spotting Zaheela as she was heading off. "Oi! Miss Zaheela!" he called, waving his whole arm in the air to get her attention.
Zaheela ear had twitched before she turned her head around, her eyes slightly glowing in the dark. When she saw Smee chasing after her, it was an understatement to say she was surprised.
"Mr. Smee? Is something wrong?" Correct her if she was wrong, but she thought that the possessive captain would of refused to his first mate leave this late in the evening. Her tail curled slightly as stopped to let the man catch up.
Smee caught up with her. "Um...erm...d-d-d-do you m-m-mind if I ask one m-m-more favor?" he asked, sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head.
She blinked once... then twice... and then a look of utter rage bloomed on her face.
"I don't care if he's your captain! I'm gonna kill him!!" She raged, assuming the worst. Her hand gripped her sword tightly as the started to storm back in the direction of the ship.
Smee squeaked, flailing, grabbing her arm. "N-n-n-n-no, p-p-p-please don't!" He tuged on her a bit, trying to get her to back off. "H-h-h-he's just ang-g-g-ry and I th-th-think surp-p-p-rised I stood up t-t-t-to him and he j-j-just k-k-k-kicked me off! He j-j-just n-n-needs time to c-c-c-cool off!”
Zaheela could of easily slipped out of Smee's grip, but something about his tone told her to just let the moronic pirate live today. Guilt then struck the poor girl and she fidgeted a bit. She had managed to get a friend in trouble and possibly bedless for a night. She pondered for a moment and then shruged. It wouldn't hurt.
"Stay with me tonight, I've got an extra bedroom." She said before turning once more heading back the way she planned, through the teleporter and towards Building 7.
Smee blinked. "A-alright!" he stuttered, before cautiously following her through the transporter and towards Building 7, looking around what was closeby. The one time he had come to deliver Miss Zaheela's hangover remedy, he hadn't really stopped to look around; he had just come and gone. But now...he glanced around in wonder, curiously.
Zaheela noted that the man was looking a little... out of place, so she slammed the door open and motioned for him to enter.
"Feel free to use anything you like, I'll go make sure that the spare room is sleepable in." And with that, Zaheela turned the corner to check on the one spare bedroom she owned, which had a king sized matress, but she never did like matresses anyways. Pillows were good enough.
Smee poked his head curiously inside the room, looking around a bit before stepping inside. "Oh..th-th-thank you!" He looked around more thuroughly this time, wondering where her giant red not-chicken was.
The bird in question, Eisen had heard his master come home... It took him a little while to pick the lock buuuuttt....
"KWEEEEEEEEEEH!!!!!!"
"EISENNOARUGHBBBT!" Oh for the love all things chocolate!
Smee jumped about a foot, letting out a very unmanly squeak as the bird made his presense known. "Oh d-d-d-dear!"
Making his presense known.. How cute. More like crushing Zaheela's ribs and hips. The irony of the picture, a large, red chocobo roosting on top of a feline like girl, cooing his head off, all in the middle of her living room.
"Eisen! OFF NOW!" She ordered, giving the bird a stern glare, and the chocobo reluctantly moved off his 'mother'. He began to coo and tried to nuzzle his beak between her chest and her armpit. Zaheela just rolled her eyes and let the chocobo do as he pleased.
Smee creeped a little into the room towards the two of them, a little curiously. "He won't...bite me, will he? Oh d-d-dear...Is he a-a-angry that I'm h-h-here?"
Eisen answered that question by flapping his wings happily and Zaheela just shrugged.
"If he's angry then he must be angry all the time." She answered with a shrug before sitting on the black leather couch and letting the large bird rest his head in her lap.
Smee blinked, before he smiled slightly, wandering over and plopping down next to her. It was a moment before he spoke. "...th...thank you."
Zaheela just smiled and shoved the bird's head into Smee's lap.
"Play with him for a bit while I get us a snack then!" She said before standing up and heading into her kitchen and digging through her cabinets. Eisen looked at the man his head had been shoved in and then cooed, wanted his ears scratched.
Smee jumped when Zaheela shoved the bird's head into his lap, and he very near started shaking. However, when Eisen cooed at him, he cautiously put a shaking hand on the bird's head and scratched a little behind his ears. "Um...h-h-h-how's th-that?" he asked.
Eisen was purring up the store when Smee had begin to scratch the magic spot behind his eartufts. He almost melted into the touch and from the opening connecting the two rooms, Zaheela chuckled. She placed two boxes on the table. One was a small sampler pack of assorted chocolates she had picked up on a whim and the other was a simple tin of small, amber colored Jelly candies. She picked one of the jelly candies and placed it on her tongue before picking up the remote on the coffee table she had placed the treats on and pointed it to a... rather... large screen...
Ok so maybe LARGE was an understatement. This thing looks like she had stolen it from a Highschool Football stadium.
Noting that the bird was not killing him for this, and actually rather seemed to like it, Smee relaxed and continued to pet the chocobo. He cocked his head curiously to the side as Zaheela set down two boxes. He leaned forward to examine them and...chocolate!
He inwardly did a little dance of joy, and pulled a couple piece out before leaning back agains the couch. He popped one of the peices in his mouth before glancing at Zaheela, wondering what exactly she was doing and what the stick thing in her hand was for and why she was pointing it infront of them.
Zaheela chuckled as she watched Smee eagerly dig into the chocolate. While she may of boughten it, she actually had no love for chocolates other then darker chocolates. It seemed his hand was focused on the remote control in her hand.
"Yeah, it took me a day or two to realize what everything did here." She said offhandedly before flicking the TV on. The screen bloomed to life with some sappy Romantic tragedy about a boat or something.
Smee squealed in shock as the TV turned on, immediately diving under the coffee table in fear.
"I didn't choose all of this stuff really, I had the contractors help me. Apparently gold and platnium are worth far more in this world then in my own." And so was the huge diamond inset in gold. She watched as Smee dived under her coffee table.
"Smee, it's a television. Kind of like a personal movie theater. It's harmless." She deadpanned, not mentioning HER reaction.
But then again when she had first turned it on, it was of a giant lizard eating the screen. She had all right to scream that loud!
Smee shook with fear until Zaheela spoke. He removed his hands from ontop of his head, peering warily at the screen. "O-Oh..." He crawled out from under the table, dusting himself off, before sheepishly returning to his former seat. "S-S-Sorry...it s-s-startled me...what's a m-m-m-movie theater?" he asked.
Zaheela blinked... And remembered he was a pirate. From the historical text books she had read during her first few days here, they came from a period with less technology then her world did, and had no magic! So maybe Smee was from a whole different place concerning pirates, but he still had no idea what a TV was.
"It's like a magic screen that plays moving images and plays music, It's very large for one and they play movies there. A television is like a home version of that."
Smee blinked, more than a little confused. "A...Alright..." Best not to ask. "So...we just....watch it?"
"If you like. The big fluffball here does anyways. In my study i've got a few books, or you can take a bath. If your tired you can just head to bed however." She pointed out, patting the chocobo on the head as he stared at the screen. She herself never went to bed before 3 am, so she decided she would just spend some time in her study. She did have a lot of things to lock up before her visitor tomorrow came.
"Make yourself at home, you're welcome here at any time." She told Smee, her smile real as she stood up and let Eisen continue watching the boat romance and up the small set of stairs towards her own study.
She opened the double doors and entered the room, ignoring the magic circle inscribed in the floor and climbed the short ladder to grab a book from the top shelves.
Smee watched as Zaheela went up the stairs with a smile. Well! It was nice to atleast know that he had a good friend other than Jas, at least. But then, the Hook was currently furious with him, so....He reached down, scratching Eisen behind the ears again. "Should we watch this?" he asked, beginning to pick up the plot. Oh! It was just like one of his romance novels! Well, this was conveniant...he grabed another chocolate and sat back, watching the movie and idly scratching Eisen behind the ears.
Eisen cooed before realizing his master... had left the wildflower honeydrops out... Temptation tickled the chocobo's fancy. The small jellies were his master's absolute favorite but took her a long time to make, so she savored what she had as long as she dared. Knowing full well that she had set aside a huge portion for some strange man, he carefully picked up a jelly between the tip of his beak and tossed his head upwards, sending the candy flying. The amber drop dropped neatly in Eisen's mouth and he savored the flavor of wildflowers and wild honey melting in his mouth.
Eisen was tempted to nab another but remembered the last time he did such a thing. His master refused to make them for over 3 months. So he ignored them and focused on the screen where the two humes were spouting some sappy romance.
Smee blinked as the bird nipped one of those jelly things. He glanced at Eisen. "D'you think I c-c-could try one of th-those?" he asked.
Eisen turned his head towards Smee and lookec confused. He was master's guest, so why did he ask? The bird nodded before settling back to watch the television. But not before nabbing another jelly, this time savoring the flavor of wildflower nectar, some type of flower extract, and honey as long as he could.
Whoever said giant birds were stupid needed to be shot anyways.
Smee would agree, as the bird seemed rather intelligent. He took the nod as a good sign, and grabbed one of the jellies, popping it in his mouth, blinking at the lovely taste before a smile fell onto his lips and he sat back, letting the sappy romance of the movie make him forget about Jas and anger and Pan and backbones and Wendy and all those other troubling things for a while. Instead, he just let himself fall into the storyline while scratching the chocobo behind the ears.
Zaheela, on the otherhand, wasn't as calm or happy as she peered over her text. From what she could tell, she had dug herself into a hole, all due to her sharp tongue. She cursed herself but then continued to draw something on a piece of parchment. The circle was simple, but what it was meant to seal away darker energies, but Cerberus, her Algol, was being stubborn and refused to be silenced. She cursed, growled softly, and then shoved the door of her equipment locker before sticking the paper on the wall. Dusting off her hands, she left the study, locking the door, and retreated into her own bedroom to change into her sleeping gear. Now normally she wore very boyish outfits, but during the night she opted to wear a tank top witha goblin print and some long pajama pants. She peeked out the door to see the two males enthralled with the TV.
While she may of enjoyed it once in a while, she had no idea what drew people to that thing anyways
they told her that they had accidentally gotten her the LARGEASSSCREENOFDOOM, but she hadn't been too mag about it.
Smee, however, was becoming more and more entranced in the plotline of the movie. It was ust like one of his romance novels! He curled more into the couch, bringing his knees up to his chest, his position making him look younger than his was, like a child curled on the couch watching a favorite movie. The two characters on the screen were now pleding how they'd never let eachother go and...it was all terribly sweet. Smee let out a small sniffle.
Zah's ears had caught the sniffle and she stuck her head out the door again and saw Smee curled up on her couch with the most adorible look on his face. She chuckled before walking down the hall, and leaned against the wall but not going down the stairs. Maybe for once she'd sleep in early and cook breakfast in the morning... Maybe just this once.
"I'm going to bed. If you feel like trying, the remote controls the Television and is pretty self explanitory. If you're too scared to try playing with it, feel free to leave it on all night." She told Smee
There was no way Zaheela would have to worry about breakfast, as Smee was already planing to get up earily and cook himself, as a thank you for letting him stay over. He did cook wonderful pancakes, after all. He rubbed his eyes quickly as Zaheela spoke, and glanced over, looking a little embarrassed. "Erm...alright! thank you!"
"Your bedroom is the room right across from Eisen's pen, he'll lead you to there if you need help. My room is just down this hallway, and the Only room that has anything dangerous is currently locked and warded, so you're perfectly safe here. The lights are run on magic, so if you want to turn them off, just top the top of the orbs. They won't be hot or anything." She continued before turning, her tail swinging back and forth in a lazy swing. She paused and turned her head once again. "And I did mean you were welcome here at any time. If you ever feel like you need to get away from that Captain, come here. If you want, I'll make you a set of keys for the door. G'Night!" And with that she walked towards her room.
After closing the door, she tapped the orb once and settled into her large nest of pillows, humming a soft lullaby to put herself into a dozing mood. She didn't worry about Smee doing anything wrong, he was an honestly nice guy and all. Eisen would stay up as well just incase, this she knew, but she really didn't think there would be a problem. With a lazy yawn, she curled up into a ball and fell asleep.
Smee smiled after her, feeling warm and fuzzy. Well! It was nice to know that one did have other friends in the world besides one man. Though he loved Jas dearly and the Hook was his dearest friend, there were times when Smee had always wished he had someone else, too. Well, now he did! He felt decidedly well. He turned his attention back to the tv screen, watching as the sappy music swelled to a crescendo, and the lovers embraced for the last time. He sniffled again, poping another chocolate in his mouth and fishing his hanky out of his pocket, wiping his eyes and blowing his nose.
It would be only about a half an hour before the movie ended, and Smee spent about fifteen minutes futzing with the controller before managing to shut the thing off, popping one more Jelly into his mouth, and stumbling down towards the guest room, where he would curl up on the soft bed and have a better sleep than he had ever had in years.
And the in the morning, he was making pancakes!
