Summary; A Zoo, A city curse, two vampires and one girl who can change into an animal...yeah hilarity and sugery sweetness ensue.

She was in such a good mood today. She hadn't felt this light in ages. She just had to get out of the house and see the new Zoo. After all she did love animals and there was suppose to be some special kind of animals in the Zoo as well. She just had to see.

She had to be careful in crowds but it would be worth it to get outside and get some fresh air and just have fun. She walked around keeping an out for Walter and his friend Rayne. Hopefully they would spot her, after all they were vampires. It didn't take long for her to end up in the area where the wild boars were kept. True to her curse several of them walked near the fence absolutely drawn to her. Thank goodness there is a fence. she thought, it would be pretty disasterous if they decided to charge in order to be near her.

"I think they like you Miss."

Kagura turned to see a total stranger staring at her with rapt fascination. "I don't know about that. They are probably just curious about all the people about," she said lightly, hoping Walter and Rayne would show up and save her from this conversation.

Walter had met Rayne at her flat and walked with her to the zoo (quite possibly with hand holding.) It was a beautiful day. So beautiful that he didn't mind the sun today, which was a rare thing indeed.

The first order of business was to find Rayne some hot chocolate and then find Kagura.

Wow, it had been a while since she had a craving for human food and with all the snow around it just begged for hot chocolate..with marshmallows. You had to have marshmallows in the hot chocolate it was mandatory.

Spotting a vendor selling hot drinks, Rayne pointed to him still with the hand that held Walter's hand. "Over there," she said pulling him along. Out the corner of her eye she spotted the young Japanese girl that Walter talked to over the network near the Boar cage. "Hey is that your friend?" she asked to make sure she wasn't mistaken.

Walter grinned and broke into a light jog, heading toward the vendor and pulling Rayne with him. "Hot chocolate and give the lady as many marshmallows as the cup will bear," he said, handing over a bill before turning toward Kagura.

"That's her." He waved a hand over his head. "Kagura! Over here." Dignity could wait for other days.

Her conversation with the stranger came to halt when she heard someone calling her name. She turned to see Walter and Rayne by the drink vendor and gave a sigh of relief. "Oh well I have go nice talking to you," she said quickly brushing off the guy and heading over toward the others.

She weaved her way through the crowd like a professional before appearing next to the vendor. "Having hot chocolate? That actually sounds good," she said to Walter and Rayne before turning toward the vendor. "I'll have one too please," she said reaching into her purse to pull out her wallet.

Rayne let go of Walter's hand to grabbed Kagura's hand and stop her from paying. "Consider it my treat," she said, pulling some money out of the pocket of her jean pockets and paying the vendor, while he handed Kagura her drink.

"So what should we check out first?" Rayne asked, taking a sip of her chocolate and actually savoring the taste.

"Anything. Everything." Walter looked around and shrugged. "Meerkats are good. They're cooperative and strangely human.

"And how are you, Kagura?" He held out his hand to her. "It's hard to believe this is the first time we've actually met in person."

"I'm fantastic!" she answered happily. "Yeah it is. Funny how things work out. How are you two doing today?" she asked cheerfully before taking a sip from her cup.

It was really great to be on an outing that didn't involve shopping.

"I'm wonderful myself. Meerkats? They would be a part of the Safari section wouldn't they?" she asked sweetly, then taking another sip of her hot chocolate. Life was good.

"We should probably buy a map. This place is huge," Rayne said with a bright smile.

The hot chocolate smelled delicious and Rayne's happiness just enhanced the already wonderful day.

"I'm having the best day," Walter agreed. "I'll buy a map and we can work our way around the exhibits. Then you two can tell me all about your favorite animals."

"Sounds like a plan to me," Kagura concurred. "I'm partial to cats all types." Cats reminded her of Kyou-kun and suddenly she was feeling even more happy then before. "We should see the lions and tigers!" she exclaimed practially bubbling with happiness.

Kagura's sudden increase in happiness made Rayne slightly giggle. No wonder Walter liked talking to her. She was just too adorable for words. "All you need to throw in is bears and we'll have a Wizard of Oz song going on," Rayne said jokingly. "Seeing the lions and tigers would be great. I like cats of all kinds too."

"And the wolves. We have to see the wolves." It was sort of a family thing or something. And Rayne was giggling. It was priceless.

He put a hand on her waist and stood on his toes to kiss her cheek before leaving Kagura and Rayne for a moment to go fetch a map.

"Lions and tigers are that way," he said, pointing as he returned. "Let's go."

She wasn't sure why but when Walter kissed Rayne's cheek her happiness started overflowing. How great that they really liked each other so much! "Wonderful! Let's go then." she exclaimed absolutely perky....maybe even glowing with cheer.

Your friend is full of energy. Rayne projected toward Walter. After noting the increase in the girl's cheerfulness again. Rayne grabbed a hold of Walter's hand again. "Wait for us," Rayne called out to Kagura.

Something felt off but when Rayne tried to think about it she felt herself grow more cheerful and shrugged it off. "To the lions and tigers," she added with a small laugh.

Walter grinned and swung Rayne's hand as though he really was the teenage boy he appeared to be.

"And bears, oh my."

If he had any thought at all about how odd it was that they were all so cheerful, it was quickly submerged under the wash of happiness. He wouldn't fight it if he could always feel this good.

Kagura slowed her pace long enough to drink from her cup of hot chocolate. It really did make her feel all warm inside and she was brimming with happiness.

"Oh there's the sign for the lions!" she said excited.

Rayne took a sip of her hot chocolate while squeezing Walter's hand. This was making her feel young again and when she thought about her teenage years she began feeling even more cheerful.

"God it's such a beautiful day," she randomly proclaimed happily. "Let's see those lions then," she added, giving Walter's hand another squeeze.

She was rather glad to be wearing low heels today so she didn't tower even more above Walter like she usually did as she bent over to kiss him on the cheek.

The sun, which ordinarily Walter found unpleasant enough to drive him to the shadows when he was forced outside during the day, was warm on his skin and only made him happier.

He'd probably get a sunburn soon. He laughed aloud as he realized he could just put on some sunscreen.

Sunscreen. For a vampire. Ah, life was a joy.

The lion enclosure at least tried to give the beasts some semi-natural habitat. The male and his lionesses seemed highly aware of the vampire, dhampir, and cursed girl who came to watch them.

Kagura was smilling so much now at seeing the lions. They reminded her of Kyou-kun and Kisa-chan.

"Hmm, it looks like we caught their attention," Kagura said with a giggle.

"I'm not surprised," Rayne laughed, after all she and Walter weren't exactly human. "What other animals are in the section?" she asked Walter, not wanting to stand idle for too long and waste the beautiful day away.

"There are hyenas nearby," Walter said, consulting the map. "And less predatory animals a bit farther down - wildebeest and zebras and springbok."

He'd always identified more with the predators. It was just nature's order and nothing he found troublesome. Really, now that he was able to look at it without getting all morose, it wasn't so terrible that he was truly one of the hunters.

"And the reptile house is down at the end of the path. It should be warmer in there."

Kagura drank her hot chocolate finally finishing it off. "Oh hyenas, like that Lion King movie?" she asked, tossing her cup in a nearby trash can. The heat of the chocolate had worked to warm her rather well and being in the presence of the lions of was making her feel so happy. And watching Walter and Rayne was also making her feel happy. Really today was such a excellent day to be alive.

"Are the tigers around here too?"

Rayne leaned over Walter's shoulder to take a look at the map after Kagura's last question. "Yeah the Tigers should be on the other side of the Reptile house," Rayne replied, lightly bumping her shoulder into Walter's. "If we work our way that way we should eventually make it to them."

If it were possible she noticed that Kagura seemed to be getting even happier just standing there but when she tried to think more on it she felt a wave of happiness.

Walter leaned back slightly, letting his body rest against Rayne's. Her closeness and happiness and Kagura's obvious joy were doing nothing but making him glad to be alive (or as alive as he could be) on that glorious day.

No doubt there were people there. Some of them might not even be as happy as the three of them were. It didn't matter in the slightest.

"Right then. Reptiles are interesting creatures. I wonder if they have mythical reptiles as well as the ones I'm used to." With that, he folded the map up to tuck away in his waistcoat and reached for Rayne's hand. "Come along lovely ladies."

"I heard they may have special creatures here too," Kagura said as she followed after the other two. "It would be wonderful to see animals that usually only exist in books." Still being mindful of the crowd lest she accidently transform but then it didn't really seem to matter in the long run. Today was the best day ever.

"Mythical creatures, huh? Well I can't say it would be surprising since anything can happen in this City," Rayne said with a smile. "So what you both thinking Dragons, unicorns and things along those lines?"

What great fortune she was having today. She was feeling like the luckiest woman in the City at the moment as Walter pulled her along.

"Since we were going into the reptile house, I was thinking more along the lines of the amphisbaena, the two headed serpent." He smiled back at her and ducked in the door to the much warmer reptile house. "But I should have been thinking bigger, yes?"

Rayne laughed in response. "I meant in general not necessarily for what you were expecting to see in the reptile house," she said following him into the building.

Kagura who had been following behind Walter and Rayne was about to respond when she tripped and fell directly in to Walter and in a "POOF" of smoke transformed. "Sorry," she managed among a fit of giggling as she sat on the floor in her small boar form surrounded by her clothes. She didn't really know why she found her current situation so funny but she did.

Walter chuckled and knelt next to Kagura. There was something horribly endearing about a little giggling boar. "It's alright. How long will you stay like this?"

"Actually I'm not sure the length of my transformations always varies," she answered inbetween giggling.

She knew she probably go to a restroom or something but she couldn't stop laughing. Oh well if she changed back at least she was a quick dresser.

Rayne looked surprised when Kagura transformed just after bumping into Walter. "So bumping into guys triggers these transformations?" Rayne asked curiously. It was very amusing to see this cute little talking boar but her curiosity was winning out.

Walter started to gather Kagura's clothes up. He assumed she was going to need them when she did change back.

"At least you can still talk while you're like this. And you really are adorable." Later he might be a bit perturbed that he'd told her she was adorable, but at the moment, she was adorable. "Stay with us and we'll make sure you don't have a chance to get cold if you change back at an inopportune moment."

What were friends for, after all?

He wasn't the first person to think she was adorable in boar form and when she thought of the last person who told her she was adorable she started feeling even more happy and giggly.

"Pretty much," she answered Rayne. "Yeah I would be really screwed if I couldn't talk in this form," she replied to Walter.

Rayne bend down and picked up Kagura. "We should probably wait it out in here. Since not that many people are coming through the Reptile House just yet," she said sweetly. "I'll carry you so they don't think you're an escaped animal."
