Log;

Standing outside the door, she glanced down and picked yet another imaginary piece of lint off of the front of the dress, smoothing the black fabric carefully. WHY she had let the woman at the clothing store talk her into this, Rukia really had no idea. Sure, she had wanted something to wear apart from the normal black and white robes that marked her as a shinigami. But...then that woman had started cooing and fawning over her and her "petite figure" and "delicate bone-structure", and numerous other things that really hadn't meant much to the tiny shinigami. Regardless, it had all ended with her finding herself dragged into a fitting room and eventually being shoved back out the door in the dress, robes in a bag, and numerous other packages stuffed under her arms.

And dumbass Ichigo wasn't even there to carry it for me.

Speaking of her..well, she supposed that technically she could refer to him as a "boyfriend", but somehow the label just seemed so....Anyway, it didn't matter. Speaking of him, she assumed he was off skulking somewhere, probably training like usual. Which meant that he wasn't home, and that she was bored. Which led her train of thought right back to where she now stood, in front of apartment #16. It was still a bit unnerving that her brother and sister had invited her over for the afternoon, but she was getting used to the new closeness. She liked it, certainly. It was still just so unexpected to see her brother, who had always been so cold and emotionless, actually showing how much he really cared for her. And the fact that she felt so self-conscious in the dress and black tights didn't help. She had to admit, though, that she liked the simple black shoes with the buckle across the top. They actually kept her feet WARM, something the sandals and tabi socks she normally wore did a piss-poor job of doing. Smoothing her raven hair, she reached up and knocked on the door.

At the knock, Hisana set aside the lightly steaming tea kettle and rose to her feet, bamboo whisk in hand before she thought to place it down (force of habit, really). For however much she teased others about her apparent prowess with items of dubious shapes and sizes, rarely, if ever, did she have the opportunity to take the time to perform traditional tea ceremonies that required the usage of said objects. Today, however, was an exception.

Both she and Byakuya had cordially extended an invitation to Rukia for a family gathering. Though she’d arrived in the City two weeks ago, it had taken her some time to accustom herself to her surroundings; the family meeting was long overdue.

…Or at least, that was what she'd said, anyway, when in actuality, there were certain Nefarious Plots (Not Completely Unrelated to Embarrassing Younger Sisters) afoot. It didn't hurt either that she was curious about Rukia's relationship with Ichigo. Certainly, given the context in which the young man had given Rukia the rabbit, there was no doubt in her mind that the actual act of giving was a euphemism for: hey, let’s breed like rabbits. And in that case, Hisana was anxious to meet Kurosaki's son, also known in her mind as He Who Would Attempt to Debauch Rukia, …Oh Dear.

Glancing over her shoulder towards Byakuya, she allowed a small smile to ghost her lips. "Let's not scare her off in the first ten minutes," she suggested with an amused lilt to her voice, then stepped towards the door and opened it.

Byakuya glaced over at the door when the knock rang out. Before she came, Byakuya was deep in thought. He had things that needed to be done. He quickly came to his senses when Hisana smiled at him.

"Wouldn't it be more interesting to scare her and then keep her locked in?"

In front of Rukia, he had to keep up a certain appearance other than the one he commonly had around Hisana. So he reached over and picked up and book. He opened it to a random spot and acted as if he was reading it. He kept the door in his peripheral vision so he could keep a close eye on Rukia walking in.

Returning the polite gesture, Hisana dipped her chin in greeting, smile broadening as she took in her sister's appearance. Dressed as she was, Rukia looked every bit as graceful and charming as expected from one raised by the Kuchiki household. The thought was warming, even though it did little to assuage the fear that there were many rabbit presents to come - and not all from one Ichigo Kurosaki.

Despite that, she moved aside to allow Rukia space to enter. "Not at all. Both Byakuya-sama and I are glad you agreed to meet with us," she said, gaze unwittingly shifting to the man in question. Reading a book now, was he? (Quite a novel effort.) Waiting for her sister to step inside before shutting the door behind her, she added, "And you look lovely today."

With his book closed and set aside, Byakuya stood up and offered Rukia hand. He was astounded by her choice of wear. If something like this was suggested by Kurosaki, then he was going to have another talk with the boy. On the other hand, it looked very nice and did remind Byakuya of Hisana when she was younger.

"Would you like to take a seat, Rukia? Maybe you could enjoy some tea while you are here?"

With Rukia's look of mild discomfort as her cue, Hisana returned to her post by the living room table and set to pouring three bowls of tea. Briefly, she wondered if they were being too enthusiastic with their plan - first the abrupt invitation, then the scrutiny of, not only one, but two elder siblings; with her fingers laced as they were, Rukia looked intimidated even without the light teasing.

Ah, well. The day was young; she'd manage.

With the cups in hand, she stood from her crouched position and placed one before Byakuya, then Rukia, and herself before taking a seat. "Byakuya-sama might be admiring your dress in a similar fashion to what I imagine Kurosaki-kun would," she said with a sage nod.

Byakuya shook his head. "You are slightly incorrect dear. The only thing that is running through my mind is how many lecherous thoughts would be running through Kurosaki's mind after seeing her."

Byakuya picked up his cup of tea and took a small sip. "Of course, perhaps Rukia wishes to ignite those thoughts?"

With her hands clasped lightly on her lap, Hisana adopted a properly solemn expression. "That sounds terribly devious," she said in something resembling a soft sigh, gaze dropping not-quite subtly to the trim of Rukia's dress. Hardly indecent, to be honest, but the light complexion of skin that trailed beneath it was still visible.

Thoughtfully, she tapped her index fingers. "With a dress cut of that length, though...one wonders."
