Glinda had finally agreed to see Suigintou, and it baffled the doll. It was the middle of the night, it would have made so much more sense to see each other during the day. But no matter, a visit was what she wanted and she wasn’t going to say no. Though as she flew gracefully through her N-Field, she realized she really didn’t know what to say. Her cheeks were still cold and damp from the tears that had covered them just before she departed. Finding the exit she wanted, she paused only to dab her cheeks once more, a futile effort, and straighten out her dress before appearing through the glimmering surface on the other side.

Glinda paced in her living room, awaiting the delicate doll's arrival. She wrung her hands, still upset with the fact that she had made Suigintou cry. It seemed she was hurting a lot of people lately, something Glinda had come to hate in herself. A movement caught her eye and she turned to face the full-length mirror across the room in time to see Suigintou step out. "Hello, Suigintou," the witch said tentatively.

Suigintou managed to look Glinda in the eye for a second before quickly turning away and staring at the floor. “Glinda.” He voice was distant, detached, and the tone even startled her. She landed gently on the floor, making no movements away from the mirror. Her hand moved for a second, as she instinctively thought to grab for the hand that was normally there next to her, but then dropped it again to her side.

The doll's response to the greeting was around what Glinda had expected. She gestured to the kitchen. "I made tea?" It was more of a question than a statement, and she waited to see how Suigintou would answer.

Suigintou nodded, walking towards the kitchen. It was harder than she thought to face Glinda after talking before. She looked towards the opposite wall for a second to brush a tear from her eye before it could fall, not wishing to cry in front of her.

Glinda fell in step behind Suigintou, trying to work out in her mind what she was going to say, all the things she wanted to say. "I thought we could have our tea on the balcony. It's rather nice out today."

Suigintou paused after entering the kitchen, letting Glinda get the tea prepared. “That sounds fine,” she answered, the words coming off more emotionless than she would have liked. She folded her hands in front of her, mustering up the courage and adding, “I really am glad to see you, even if it doesn’t seem that way…”

The witch turned to the doll and smiled. "It's been a while since we've had tea, hasn't it? I think the last time was... when I made your dresses, right?" She loaded a wooden tray with a pot of boiling water, two china cups, and various containers of sweeteners and tea bags. "The balcony's this way."

Suigintou followed, feeling more confident to continue talking. “Yes, it has been quite a while.” She looked up at the form in front of her, feeling guilty for saying what she had to someone who was being so nice. “I’m…sorry if what I said earlier hurt you.”

Glinda lay the tray on a small table on the balcony. "You have nothing to apologize for," she said, turning to face Suigintou. "I'm the one who should be sorry. ... I'm sorry I made you cry."

Suigintou’s eyes quickly fell to the floor again, still unable to look Glinda in the face. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms feebly around Glinda’s leg, leaning against it, unable to stop her eyes from watering up again. “It’s not your fault,” she muttered.

The embrace was surprising, but not unwelcome. Glinda leaned down and tried to wrap her own arms around Suigintou in return, but the position was a little awkward, and she could only manage to get one arm around the doll's shoulders. "It is my fault," she said. "Tayuya said it was. She said it happened during out conversation."

Suigintou looked up into Glinda’s eyes for a moment, then floated up until she was resting on Glinda’s arm, so she wouldn’t have to stand hunched over. She squeezed her glistening eyes shut, burying her face in Glinda’s shoulder, short arms wrapped partially around Glinda’s body. A muffled “sorry” came from the doll, barely audible.

Glinda pulled Suigintou into her arms, cradling her. "I told you, you have nothing to apologize for. Please, don't cry again, or else I'll start as well."

Suigintou shook her head, resting it sideways on Glinda’s chest so she could speak. “If you were happy, then it wasn’t my place to say anything. No matter how I feel about Greed.” Tears streamed down her face, but she quickly wiped it off and took a deep breath, calming herself and drying her watery eyes.

"Whether I was happy or not, you had all right to say something." She moved to a nearby chair and sat, shifting Suigintou so that the doll rested on her knees. "As my friend and Tayuya's, you were well within your rights to speak up."

Suigintou shook her head again, this time looking up at Glinda. “I was worried for you, yes, but…I don’t even understand how anything like love works. For all I know, I could be wrong about Greed. It would go against everything else I’ve seen him do, but I could be!”

"Oh, Suigintou..." Glinda took one of the doll's hands in her own. "I don't know if you're wrong. This isn't love, I don't think. And anyways, the last time I thought I was in love, I didn't really understand it that much, either. ... Then again, the man I loved left me." She laughed half heartedly. "Perhaps it was because I didn't understand. Who knows."

Suigintou squeezed the hand and looked away, already feeling a twang of guilt because of the next question she knew she would ask. Her voice wavering slightly, she asked, “if it’s not love, then…why?”

Glinda closed her eyes. She had known that question was coming. It was one she had been struggling to answer herself. "I... don't know," she finally answered. It was no explanation, but it was all she had.

Suigintou had hoped for a real answer, some way for her to understand, but didn’t expect anything. “I see…” Her eyes closed as she tried to clear her mind of those thoughts, though it didn’t work well. “I really am sorry, I shouldn’t have even asked,” she mumbled.

“I'm sorry I don't have a better answer, but I really don't know. I'm still working on that myself." She paused, and finally said, in mock admonition. "And no more apologies from you. Or you can go straight back to Tayuya without any tea."

The joke completely lost on the doll, she turned back and said, “but I really am! And you have no reason to be sorry. You’re-“ She took a breath to calm herself again. “You’re a proper lady, and I should trust your judgment.”

Glinda laughed at Suigintou's reaction. "Thank you, but I'm not a proper lady." She smiled, wistfully. "Not so perfect anymore, am I?"

Suigintou was confused as to why Glinda had laughed, but that wasn’t important. Finally Suigintou knew what she wanted to say. Her face became completely calm, and she released Glinda’s hand. “Glinda, I have a strange request for you, but…I want you to trust me. Would you take me inside and remove my dress?”

The request was indeed strange, and the witch frowned. "Suigintou... why?"

Suigintou sighed. It was hard enough for her to do this without Glinda protesting. “I have something I wish to show you. That is all.”

Glinda nodded slowly, standing and carrying Suigintou inside. She sat in a chair, Suigintou again on her knees, facing away from her so that Glinda could see the ties and buttons of her dress. They were familiar ties and buttons. She began to undo them, asking the doll, "This is one of the dresses I made you, isn't it?"

Suigintou placed her hands lightly over the fabric, to cover herself when it was removed. Her lips curled into a small smile. “Yes, it is. I like the dresses you made for me very much.” Her hands trembled slightly, though she stilled them, hoping Glinda would not notice. She was afraid, but she felt it had to be done.

"I can make you more, if you'd like," Glinda offered, finishing with the last of the delicate buttons on the back of the dress. "There we are," she said freeing Suigintou from the fabric.

Suigintou felt the fabric lightly fall off of her body. All that was covering her secret now was her hair. She nervously turned, hands covering as much of her body as possible, and stood, her upper body floating freely above her legs. “Nobody is perfect, Glinda,” she whispered, eyes closed, too afraid to see the other woman’s reaction.

Glinda's eyes widened as Suigintou's closed. "Suigintou..." she whispered, her voice as low as the doll's. She reached up, her fingers lightly touching Suigintou's cheek. "Look at me."

Suigintou slowly opened them, staring at the floor but slowly turning her attention to Glinda’s face, expecting one of disgust. An unfinished doll. How pathetic she must look.

The witch gave a smile, one of reassurance and comfort. "You are perfect, Suigintou. In one piece or two, you're beautiful."

Suigintou couldn’t help but blush, and quickly threw her undergarments back over her head. Her secret covered again, she floated up to eye level and looked slightly confused at Glinda. “…Do you mean that?”

"Of course I do," Glinda answered, nodding. She held up the tiny dress for Suigintou to pull on. "Why wouldn't I?"

“Because I wasn’t good enough to be finished.” She slipped back into the dress, turning to face Glinda again. Her voice still shaky, she added, “I’m glad…you can see past my flaws. That you can accept me how I am.”

"You could never not be good enough for me, Suigintou." Glinda pulled the doll into an embrace. "I didn't see any flaws."

Suigintou floated, resting her arms on Glinda’s shoulders, but completely taken by surprise. She had never though anyone would look at her as she truly way and not care, or hug her, or anything other than turn away in disgust. Speechless, she let her head lean against Glinda’s cheek.

"There now," Glinda said, "before I turn into a bigger emotional mess than I already am. I'm sure the water for our tea has gone cold by now. I could put some more on, if you still want it."

Suigintou nodded against Glinda’s cheek, still too shocked to speak. She floated up out of Glinda’s arms, leaning in and kissing her momentarily, just as Tayuya had said friends do. Though that didn’t make it any less embarrassing for her, as her rosy cheeks were evidence of. She watched Glinda with joyful eyes, glad that somehow things had turned out alright.

Glinda blushed deeply, and then laughed lightly. "What was that for?"

Suigintou finally smiled, cheeks slightly reddened as well. “Because we’re friends, Glinda.”

"Yes, we are," Glinda said, amused. "Ah... would you still like some tea?"

Suigintou nodded. “Tea sounds splendid.” Straightening her dress, she waited for Glinda to return to the balcony and rather than sitting at her spot, she claimed the witch’s lap, sipping the tea, glad she had finally made things right again.
