Summary; Isane makes a house call.
Log;

Even though it was morning, Rangiku was awake and had been for most of the night. Her newfound fears had made themselves known all evening as nightmares, so she'd given up on sleep. Instead, she spent the night curled up next to her husband, clinging to him in hopes he really wouldn't leave her, even though she knew in her heart that he wouldn't. She'd left his side a few minutes ago to check the network and saw that Isane was coming over, so she pulled on a robe as carefully as she could and shuffled into the living room to wait on her.

Isane was worried. To say she wasn't would be... a vast understatement. The fear Rangiku had been exhibiting... that was unusual. But it was only second to her worry about the other shinigami's injuries. She'd wanted to see to them yesterday, but with the patients she'd had- Sanji should be able to walk again- she hadn't seen her, which made her feel guilty.

For that matter, she hadn't seen the residence the two shared, and she was impressed, walking up to the door slowly, eyes wide before knocking, her 4th division bag clutched tightly in her arms.

"Am I alright?!" The extent of Rangiku's injuries- When she hadn't shown up yesterday the healer had assumed her wounds would be superficial, maybe a bad cut, but this? ... This was-

"I only got cut once, Rangiku, look at you! Bed, now!" Isane started to shoo the other vice towards somewhere she could lay down and let her work, until she realized she didn't know where anything was, and paused awkwardly.

"Well... um, lead the way?"

Isane trotted along behind the other woman, nodding. "It's fine." She murmured, kneeling on the floor beside the couch and setting down her bag, beginning to take a few things out and set them aside, nodding to herself as she appraised which things she'd need. Ah, Gin, that was right.

... And that sort of unnerved her, probably would for a while, until she could shake the sight of healing the people afterwords that had been pierced with traitor's blades, but- for Rangiku, she'd try.

"How're you two doing?" She liked to talk while she worked, kept the patient lucid, well, not that Rangiku was in danger at the moment, but it became habit to try and talk to those she was healing, make them laugh. "You should hear Ikkaku and Yumichika, they won't stop teasing me about my love life." That statement was followed by a small laugh.

"I got mad at the- And I didn't even know about that!" Isane exclaimed as she put her palms together before beginning to murmur a kidou under her breath, going through the incantation more often used in healing before laying her hands gently on the other vice's back, the soft glow of her reiatsu going to work on reknitting flesh and repairing wounds.

"It's a nice house, too." She commented, not wanting to look around and admire because she was working.

Rangiku was right when she anticipated a blush from the other vice captain, and Isane fought to keep from stumbling over her next works, hands still glowing as she poured more reiatsu into the wounds, letting them knit together until only faint marks of paler skin removed. In some cases she would not resort to such powerful kidou, letting things heal on their own, using salves and bandages, but this was a friend, and she didn't want her hurt any longer than neccesary, plus... well, no, she didn't have the reiatsu to spare. Healing Sanji earlier had drained her, and this was pushing it. But she'd never been one to stop healing merely because of her own weakness.

"That would be nice." She said, managing a smile as she finished up. The actual healing of the back complete, she held out her still faintly glowing hand for Rangiku's, the crushed state worried her, and she would need to put a lot into this next one.

"Besides all that, you've been fine?"

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"No, I'll fix it." Isane said with a small smile, though it was strained, and a bead of sweat ran down the side of her face. The slash in her belly still ached, she had only done a superficial healing on it, what with Sanji coming and even more injured on the Wrath curse, but... she was a vice captain. ... She could take it, expecially after Ikkaku had made that comment about how weak 4th division was earlier.

"There." She wiped her brow with the back of her hand. "I'll just do one last diagnostic run though, okay?"

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-19 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"A-alright, Rangiku." Isane said softly, shaking her head a little, beaded braids jingling faintly. She lay her palms on Rangiku's shoulders, eyes closing as she let reiatsu flow through the other woman, exploring, checking, making sure... it was a slightly invasive kidou, but worth it for checking internal injuries... but...

"Um... Rangiku?" Isane paused, a puzzled expression coming to her face at what she had found.

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh..." The healer paused, at a total and complete loss of words, sitting back on her heels. For the first matter... she had no idea how this had happened, hadn't thought it possible- only the nobles really did that, and even she didn't know how exactly... Unohana-taichou knew, she was the one who attended to them during such occassions... but...

It had to be this City... their bodies weren't like they were in Soul Society, they were like gigai, almost, and... Isane shook her head fiercely, trying to make this all make sense, but it didn't...

"Um, I think you're pregnant." She finally blurted our, her confusion evident on her face from detecting the small reiatsu glow during her diagnostic.

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know how!" Isane answered hurridly, hands raising, now devoid of kidou glow, and waving slightly in alarm, caught off guard by Rangiku's reaction and startling herself, because really, she didn't know.

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Isane calmed her nerves, sitting back on her heels and looking up at the ceiling in thought, trying to compare the strength of the small bundle of reiatsu to normal growth rates... She had attended a few nobles in her time as vice captain, just never as the primary, that was always her captain...

"I'd say... not long at all. Less than three weeks, it's probably not shown up through hormone levels yet..."

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
Isane tensed at first, caught off guard again, but slowly she enveloped her friend in and embrace, a slow smile spreading across her face. As much as she was scared by Ichimaru Gin, Rangiku was, and always would be, her friend, and she wanted her to be happy. And she knew how much she wanted this.

"You're right, Rangiku." With a firm squeeze, Isane nodded, then suddenly drew back.

"But... you're right! There's so much to do, oh my goodness-"

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You have to tell him!" Isane said with a smile, brain whirring. She wanted to tell, ah, but it was Rangiku's job to do that, and she would leave her to it.

"Oh my gosh, tell him right now, he's here, I'll go ahead home and rest..."

[identity profile] fishcake-dreams.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Isane nodded into her friends shoulder, breaking the embrace after a moment to gather her bags, unconsciously touching her mid-section... she did need to see to that.

"I'll rest up, you go give him the good news, okay?" And with that, she was out the door.
