Summary; L's been concious for 120 hours, so Kazuki visits to try and help him fall asleep.
Log; L felt restless as he sat on the couch, his knees drawn up into his usual pose, his laptop computer next to him. he'd been feeling the strain of staying awake for some time now, but as he was used to it, he was able to ignore it most of the time. Normally he would have just taken a dose of sleeping pills and just left things be, but it seemed Kazuki didn't approve of such methods.
And so, L was stuck waiting for the petite man to arrive at his apartment. There were bits of evidence of his restlessness scattered across his apartment. A piece of cheesecake with only one bite taken out of it was on the table, L's usually iron stomach turning at the first bite. It seemed that kazuki was right in that he needed some real food every once and a while, as much as the detective hated to admit it. Also around were some scattered books as well as the unopened bottle of sleeping pills on the counter.
And so, L waited, feeling rather like an impatient child in the way he kept glancing towards the door and straining to hear any footsteps.

It seemed that kazuki was right in that he needed some real food every once and a while, as much as the detective hated to admit it. And so, L waited, feeling rather like an impatient child in the way he kept glancing towards the door and straining to hear any footsteps.

Smoothing his hands down his hips with a sigh, the young man lifted a fist, knocking briefly on the door before pushing it open and stepping inside, closing it behind him again with his booted heel. --He took a moment to glance over the room before sighing and moving toward L, settling on the couch beside him and laying a hand lightly over his knee.
".. L-san, do you often go without sleep like this?" he inquired gently, other hand rising to brush dark hair out of the wide, darkly-ringed eyes. "It has me a bit worried.." More than a bit, actually.

He really did need to sleep. He managed not to try and scoot away from kazuki as he sat besides him. He still wasn't used to so much physical contact.
"Quite often." L replied, trying not to give into the urge to try and move closer to Kazuki. "In my own world I stayed up for as long as it took to solve a case, most of the time."

Fingers smoothed down the curved back, then, finding tension knots and digging into them carefully. Perhaps, forced to relax, he could sleep without the pills. Though.. Kazuki could understand the paranoia; when he'd been the leader of Fuuga, and then later as Raitei's second-in-command, they'd always been in some kind of danger. And, of course, Kazuki's job as an annaiya wasn't without its own perils.
But L.. L's case was rather.. extreme.
"Relax," he murmured, mouth quirking at the tense posture. "It's not as if you've never lain against me before."

"I know, old habits die hard." L said quietly, almost amusedly remembering Watari commenting that not even death would cure L's ways. He was right. He tried to relax as kazuki had wanted, though there was still a barrier in his mind fighting against it.
"Yes, but last time I laid against you we were both effected by a curse." L said, but relaxed himself as besthe could.

Reaching down to unzip and yank his boots off, Kazuki settled more comfortably against the couch with the older man, long, jean-clad legs being pulled up to cradle L between them.
"You worry too much. No one here is out to get you.." He dropped another kiss against L's hair, then one against the space between his brows. "And even if there was, I think my strings could handle them." As if in response, the bells in his hair chimed softly.

"I feel I worry just enough." L commented, his eyes half closed. Despite his comments that without sleeping pills it was near impossible to fall asleep, he was beginning to wind down from the excessive amounts of caffiene and sugar in his system thanks to Kazuki.
And as much as he didn't want to admit it, being close to another person without fear of that person being out to get him was nice.

It was a worrisome thought; how long had L lived like this? All his life?
Tightening his arm at the thought in a gentle squeeze, Kazuki rested his cheek on the top of the dark head, soft eyes sliding shut.
"I'll protect you," he breathed in a sigh. "God knows it looks like no one else has ever cared to.."

L's hand tentatively reached up to touch Kazuki's hand, the action seeming slightly awkward since L wasn't used to initiating such contact.
"Thank you..." L laced his fingers in with Kazuki's gently and gave a light squeeze.
