Nill & Kamui completed log, a bit backdated!
When; Night of Feb 16th.
Rating; G
Characters; Kamui (
fateisabitch) & Nill (
caged_song)
Summary; Nill comes over to dress Kamui's wounds, fluff and snuggles ensue.
Log;
"Damn it..." Kamui swore under his breath, wincing as he shifted on his couch and accidentally, simultaneously hit a bruise and re-opened one of his wounds. Yes, he was one who could heal fast, but after a day and a half... only the lesser injuries had healed. His current state was just too much for his body to take on all at once.
Blood dripped onto the couch fabric as he moved again, unable to get comfortable. Fuuma... must have been... upset with him or something; the treatment being more brutal than it usually was. It was obvious that Fuuma had intended to make sure he wasn't going anywhere afterward; even though Kamui didn't understand why.
All he could think on right now was that Nill might be scared when she saw him; covered in cuts and bruises, legs barely functional. He didn't... want that...
Clutching her trusty first aid kit, Nill made a run for it to Kamui's apartment building. The day had come up with pretty scary surprises, and she wasn't one for allowing herself to be kidnapped. Nill was worried, as usual, but this time more so. She was really, really, worried. And that is definitely a greater level of worry than just being worried.
She made it safely and let out a soundless sigh of relief, she didn't want any more uncomfortable instances. The mute made her way to Kamui's apartment and knocked shyly on the door, bracing herself for whatever condition that Kamui was in.
Kamui let out an audible whimper and groan, getting up with much effort and making his way to the door. He could do nothing but limp at the moment, occasionally having to support himself on something along the way. At least the blood from that opened wound wasn't bleeding enough to drip to the floor?
"N-Nill?" he asked softly as he opened his door, looking away instantly. He didn't want to see her shocked, horrified, worried expression. Not when this was something that was his fault.
Nill's eyes widened, and her mouth formed an "oh" in response. Her breath tightened at the sight of Kamui in such a state, she couldn't stand it. If only there was a way she could have prevented it, if only...if only...if only she could have done something, anything. Her wings drooped, mirroring her emotions.
Kamui finally looked at her, instantly regretting it. She looked... so upset. And it was his fault. "Nill, don't..." He angled his body a little, pulling her into a one-armed hug, not wanting her to touch his bleeding arm. He definitely didn't want to get any of his blood on her. "It's okay. Please don't look so sad."
She held onto his one arm lightly, worried that if she moved she'd cause Kamui even more pain. Nill closed her eyes and rested her head on Kamui's chest, trying to hide the tears that were starting to form.
No...for Kamui...he even asked her...not to look sad...she bit her lip and tried to stop her unwanted tears.
Regaining some self-control, she looked up and offered him a weak smile, it was the best she could do at the moment. Nill held up the medical kit. They had better start bandaging soon...
Nill was trying, Kamui could see that, and so he tried to offer her a ghost of a smile as well. "Yeah. Let's... take care of things." He turned from her, leading her with a hand clasped around hers, walking with a bad limp to his couch. That would probably be the best place to do all this, since some parts might take a while.
"Um..." Shyly, he removed his shirt, revealing cuts, bruises, bite marks, and scratches all over his torso. "There is a lot. Sorry." Kamui blushed a little, not entirely used to being shirtless around a girl. Sure, he'd been shirtless around Hokuto since coming here, but she didn't count.
She followed him meekly to the couch. What the shirt revealed was...bad. Horrible. It was almost as bad as Badou when he came back from some of his missions. Haine would have already been healed, but the blood stains would always give away that he had been shot at more than once or twice.
Nill traced a cut lightly with her finger, faintly wondering how much Kamui was hurt. He had...even...limped...to the couch. She opened up the medical kit and took out some cotton balls to clean some of injuries, the girl reached for the small bottle of alcohol, but stopped. Alcohol was painful...when cleaning wounds...but these cuts, and bruises,...and even bite marks...had to be cleaned.
Nill looked around, maybe if she could find a wash cloth, and some water...?
He noticed her hesitation over using the alcohol, thinking she really not need to worry. With all the times he had to have wounds cleaned, he was almost immune to the sting. "It's okay. You can use alcohol. Kind of... used to it. It won't hurt me." Another gentle, reassuring smile, this time more real than the last. Nill was so kind to be helping him like this.
Nodding reluctantly, NIll took out the bottle of alcohol and used it to wet the cotton ball a bit. There were so many injuries that Nill had no idea where to start. She let out a breathless sight and braced herself for the job, starting with the areas that were closest to her. She lightly touched the wet cotton ball to one of Kamui's wounds, but her mind wailed on. Kamui...you're hurt...so hurt...
Kamui didn't even flinch when the alcohol touched him, aside from the skin twitching at how cold it was. "I..." he bit his lower lip, feeling bad that Nill was having to do this for him, "I'm sorry to be so much trouble. It's so nice for you to help me like this." It could take a while, after all.
In the background, Kamui heard a sudden loud thump, coming from his closed-up room. "Ah~ She fell off the bed again." A sigh.
Nill smiled softly at Kamui in return and shook her head at him, he really...really...didn't have to be sorry...It was something she was willing to do...It was...it was like the only thing she could do for him...
She jumped and nearly dropped her cotton ball. W-What...was that n-noise...? Nill looked to Kamui hoping for some explanation.
"Ah..." Kamui actually smiled for entirely real this time, amused, "don't worry." He waved dismissively, then moved to pet her carefully. "I have two puppies sleeping in my room right now. Ama... well, she's gotten pretty big, and she has a habit of accidentally rolling off my bed while asleep. That would be the sound you heard. It doesn't hurt her or anything, and... her clumsiness is kind of funny." Of course, Miya, the other dog, would not have agreed with him. It wasn't odd for the Golden Retriever to accidentally roll on her, trip and run into her, smoosh her against walls...
"They're so weird."
Nill stifled a soundless giggle invoked by the imagery. Ah! They sounded really cute~ Maybe when she finished she would be able to go see the silly puppies?
She was feeling surprisingly better, the worry had faded away with the appearance of Kamui's real smile. Nill had also finished up cleaning most of the wounds. The girl felt vaguely satisfied, but bandaging might be harder.
It was nice to see a more positive response from her, even if she couldn't voice it. It was enough to get another petting from him. Nill was just so... cute.
Silently, he watched her finish up cleaning, moving a little to make bandaging easier. Definitely didn't want to cause her any more trouble than he already was. "You're really... good at this. You must heal a lot of people." And those people had better appreciate it too, damn it.
The angel smiled at Kamui's comment and the comforting pat. She wondered if the bandaging really helped heal people, wounds healed by themselves didn't they...? At...at least...at least this was something she was able to do...
She put the cotton ball and bottle of alcohol aside and gave a sigh, taking a quick break before bandaging. Kamui had been very thoughtful of moving a little bit in a helpful direction when the girl was working. Kamui was such a nice person...he was so kind...he didn't deserve to get hurt like this. The thought dragged at her mind a bit, but she shook it away. Not now...p-please...
It was awkward at times, but Kamui tried to help her as best as he could; moving in helpful ways, holding bandages if it was needed. He wanted to make it easier on her.
Soon, though, the job was done, and he held his arms out for a hug, smiling a little. If she settled against him gently, it shouldn't hurt at all. "Come here?" Was it odd for someone so rarely outwardly-affectionate to want to hold a person?
Obliging Kamui's call, she carefully settled into Kamui's arms. She was done, the wounds were all bandaged. Relief washed over her, and the tears she held up until now had slowly begun to fall. She buried her face to try and hide the signs of crying.
"Nill?" he asked, concerned when he felt warm liquid against his chest. "Is this... is this because of me?" Gently, he rubbed her back, pet her hair; all trying to be soothing moves. He didn't want her crying over him. It wasn't worth it, especially since these injuries were probably just the beginning.
This worried him, too: if she was this upset about relatively minor injuries, what would she do if Kamui ended up dead? It was a very real possibility, especially with him offering up his life to return his friend to his former self. Not to mention Fuuma constantly saying that he would kill him. "Please don't cry because of me. Don't be sad."
But Nill nodded vaguely, keeping her face covered, she tried her best to stop, but it was just so hard to stop them. She had to stop, what if her crying made Kamui sad too?
The angel's tears lessened and she calmed down a bit, but she continued to keep her face hidden. Crying would make nothing better...hadn't she already learned that from the underground?
The violet-eyed teenager continued to try to comfort Nill; petting her, holding her... anything to make her relax. This wasn't needed, and it scared him a little that she had apparently gotten this attached. People who got that close to him tended to... die. In one way or another.
"Please, don't... don't ever be upset over me. All it will do is make you miserable. This..." it was best to be honest with her, his arms now around her tightening slightly, "this is just the beginning. It's very possible that I may end up dead, so I don't want you to be..." Kamui trailed off, not sure of what else to say.
...d-dead...? Her blue eyes flashed towards Kamui in sheer horror. Had she heard right...? I-It wasn't...it wasn't true...w-was it...? Nill pressed a little bit closer to Kamui, her expression pleading. P-Please...please...
The look Kamui gave her in turn was pained, guilty. "I'm sorry." He shifted, pulling Nill with him as he lay down, head propped up on the couch's arm rest. "Maybe... maybe you shouldn't have gotten involved with me. I'm..." he moved her so that her head was nestled under his chin, hugging her close. "I'm so sorry. But I," he pet her hair again absently, "don't want you to be surprised when fate finally catches up with me, and I'm... gone..." Gone or stuck in this place forever; he wasn't sure which would happen.
Her wings retracted, mirroring her look of defeat. She couldn't do anything to stop this...could she? Nill shook her head softly, hoping not to disturb any of Kamui's wounds. He didn't have to be...sorry about it...
The blonde closed her eyes, vaguely comforted by Kamui's tentative hold. She wished...wished more than anything...to prevent Kamui's mentioned fate.
Kamui just continued to hold and pet her for a while, finally glancing at a nearby clock. It... was getting late, and maybe it would be best for Nill not to go out: the City could definitely be dangerous at night. "Um..." his fingers stilled, but he didn't otherwise move, not wanting to dislodge her yet, "how about you stay here tonight? You can have my bed. I'll sleep on the couch." Or they could just sleep like this, the position warm, comforting... even after everything he had told her.
It reminded him of nights past, when he was a child and sleeping over with Kotori and Fuuma. Sometimes, Kotori would want to be cuddled like this, just as he sometimes had been wanted to be held by Fuuma. If only things hadn't... ended up as they had... and it was all his fault...
Nill looked up when the petting stopped, she looked at the clock and her lips pursed. It was a bit late. Considering that she had nearly been kidnapped that day and the City had had a unrelenting string of curses, Kamui's suggestion sounded nice, but she didn't want him to sleep on the couch. Personally...she didn't really want to move...it was just to comfortable...and plus...Nill had that feeling that if she moved...everything would be lost...
More than anything, Nill wanted to stay with Kamui, by his side at least...She had never been able to do it with Heine. He had always left her waiting at the church...hoping he'd come back...and that he'd stay safe. The City was different than the underground, Nill was allowed out an about more often. And for now...she didn't have to wait...she could follow now...the angel could follow without the church gates as a boundary. The girl rested her head on Kamui's chest again. J-Just...just a little longer...?
Nill certainly didn't seem eager to move, and so Kamui just shifted a little to get more comfortable, but then... a thought came to him. "Or we could share the bed, if you want to sleep like this. The couch will get too uncomfortable, after a while." It obviously didn't even occur to him to think better of the suggestion; he never saw sharing a bed as a bad thing. Even with a girl, it didn't seem at all inappropriate. He wasn't going to do anything, after all.
To him, sharing his bed was a good thing: it kept the nightmares at bay, and... it wasn't so hopelessly lonely. Since the younger Subaru had walked away from him, left him alone with their two dogs, that had become an emotion he was quite accustomed to.
The girl nodded at the suggestion, the couch was also a bit...bloodied up...The bed did sound a bit more comfortable...W-Wait...b-but...Kamui was a guy...was sharing the same bed a bad thing? She had shared a bed with the Bishop before, when her nightmares got too bad for her to stay alone. But Bishop wasn't a great comparison...
Kamui wouldn't do anything to her...She could trust him...He wasn't a Melvin Scrooge...Kamui had made her feel safe...someone like that wouldn't hurt her...
With a real, small smile, Kamui nodded, dislodging Nill so he could get up. With a pained groan, he stretched a little, somehow managing not to rip open his bandaged wounds. He was still shirtless, but that seemed okay, considering Nill hadn't reacted badly to it yet. That fact alone had made him get over his initial shyness over it.
"Okay, let's go to bed, hm?" Gently, he took her hand and led her down the hall, opening the door, only to get practically pounced by two happy puppies. They milled around both humans, barking, tails wagging so hard their entire butts shook. "Oh," Kamui smiled back at Nill, pointing to the smaller, white, fluffy puppy, "That's Miya, and," his finger moved to the larger, almost golden-cream coloured dog, "that's Ama. They'll calm down in a bit." And in a bit, they did, finding their bed in Kamui's room and settling in together.
"Um..." Kamui grabbed a pair of cotton pants from his dresser, and then tilted his head at Nill, "do you want me to give you a big shirt to sleep in or something?" It wasn't always the most comfortable to sleep in clothes, and he did have some dress shirts that were way oversized on him, and thus would cover the girl entirely.
Actually, Nill was a little bit affected by Kamui's shirtlessness. Before, she had been concentrating on the cuts so she hadn't really had time to notice or care, but now that she wasn't worrying about the injuries, the fact that he was shirtless took her a bit by surprise. By the time they got to his room, her embarrasment had passed, this could have been due to the puppies' excited greeting as they entered. Nill smiled brightly, glad to see them as well. They were just so cute!
She looked up at Kamui's enquiry. Clothes...? A big shirt should do...but...g-guh...Nill eyed her wings, and gave them a lingering touch. Finding clothes for her wasn't the easiest task, especially with the wings. Nill didn't want to have to trouble Kamui or ruin his clothes by having to cut slits at the back...wings are so troublesome...
Oh, right, the wings; they were something Kamui barely even noticed most of the time. Not the oddest of things he'd seen, considering, and thus they didn't gather too much attention from him. "Oh. Um. We can cut holes in the back. I'll give you the shirt I don't really wear, since I swim in it as is." A shrug, no big deal. "We can keep it here, if you want, and that way if you stay over again, you'll have your own nightshirt already here." He scratched the back of his head a little, wondering to himself if that sounded weird. Eh, made sense to him.
Nill nodded, that sounded like a good idea. Then it would probably easier for her to...visit...as well...? The girl smiled, Kamui was really thoughtful, she'd really have to figure out a way to replay him someday...m-maybe...maybe...she could bake him something...? She was getting better at that, and Mr Cook was a great teacher.
"Okay." He nodded too, digging the specific shirt from his dresser, then holding it up just behind Nill's back, trying to get an idea of where to cut the slits. "Be right back!" With the slap of feet against his hardwood floor, he jogged back to the kitchen, grabbing his scissors from a drawer and snipping the shirt back. He just hoped the holes would be in a good spot. On the way back, he stopped in the bathroom to quickly change into those comfy sleeping pants, finally returning to the girl with the shirt in hand.
"Um..." he handed the altered clothing over to Nill, chewing on his bottom lip.”I hope this works. I'm sorry in advance if I screwed up cutting the places for your wings."
The girl gave Kamui a nod of thanks and took the shirt to the bathroom to change. Clothes really were a hassle sometimes...they were just so...frustrating...or at least the clothes she wore...? The lolita dress she had worn that day was relatively plain but the back was always an intricate crisscross of ribbons. It took her longer than she wanted to get the dress off. She slipped on the shirt, and gently moved her wings through the slits.
Testing the shirt a bit, Nill moved her wings up and down in a slow flapping motion. Un. The shirt was just right. She gathered the dress in one hand and came out of the bathroom back to Kamui's bedroom, a smile on her face.
"Does that work?" Kamui asked as he watched her come back in, pulling his sheets down and settling into bed, laying on his back for now. He was kind of lucky that he could sleep both on his back and side; both were good for cuddling while sleeping.
Shifting a little more, he finally got more comfortable, holding out his arms invitingly to her once more, this time smiling. It'd been far too long since he'd had someone to sleep with. He... liked it. Reminded him of better days, when he was loved and safe.
The winged-girl crawled onto the bed and carefully arranged herself in Kamui's arms. Maybe sleeping on her side would have made this a lot easier...She really could do it if she tried hard enough, but she'd always end up with a cramped wing and that was painful...Nill looked up at Kamui, wondering if her current position was alright.
Kamui sat up for just a second to pull the covers up over them, making sure she was in her chosen position when he laid back down. "Is this... comfortable for you? I can always move. The only position I can't sleep in is on my stomach." The look he gave her was curious, waiting for an answer. He imagined that sleeping with wings would be a little awkward; he was glad his own could be put away at will.
Nill nodded and laid back down on top of Kamui. It was kind of awkward to sleep like this...Yes, she was used to sleeping on her tummy...that was pretty much the only way she could sleep...so she was used to it...but she hadn't really slept on someone...W-Was it really o-okay...? It...it didn't hurt him right...? Nill gave him a worried look hoping that she wasn't too heavy or anything.
Blinking, he tilted his head on the pillow a little. Why was Nill looking worried like that? If only he could read minds. "You're okay," he said simply, an answer that he hoped would cover whatever it was that was bothering her. He certainly was okay with his current position, finding it nice and warm; not to mention that Nill didn't weigh enough to bother him.
"This is... comfy." A small smile and Kamui wrapped his arms around her, yawning and looking rather sleepy. Sleepy and calm; features more relaxed than most people had seen.
Smiling, she relaxed and rested her head on Kamui's chest. Nill nodded softly in agreement. It was comfy, very much so. She let out a soundless yawn as well, Kamui's had been contagious.
She hadn't realized how tired she had been, at the moment she was exausted. The feeling of safety and warmth that Kamui's hold gave her was slowly making her drowsy.
So comfortable, and so familiar; having a warm body in his arms, cuddled against him. Or, rather, in this case, on him. It reminded him so much of his days as a child, with the Monou family, but... he couldn't decide if that was a bad thing or good thing. His relations with them had obviously ended badly, but... not Nill. He wouldn't let that happen to her.
Subconsciously, his arms tightened just a bit, protective. He would keep her safe. "Mmm... good night, Nill." Another yawn, and his eyes finally drifted shut.

...d-dead...?
