Characters; Open to all Naruto characters with Konoha-designated allegience who will be participating in the "battle royale" w/the Akatsuki.
Summary; With an inevitable clash with the Akatsuki looming on the horizon, Konoha's resident tactical genius decides the time to be lazy is done with, and organizes a meeting to formulate strategies.

Looking around the room, the green-vested shinobi frowned slightly, running a hand through black hair as he gathered it back into it's customary ponytail. That done, he adjusted the pair of wire-rimmed glasses that sat on the bridge of his nose and plopped down in front of the hastily-cleared coffee table. Maps and charts littered the glass surface, scrolls and sheaves of papers stacked here and there amidst crooked piles of books. Rifling through one of the many stacks, he yanked out the book he was looking for and began thumbing through.

Allies would be here soon, and time was running out. They needed to finish this, finish it soon and settle the score with their enemies.

Kakashi entered into the place of meeting almost silently, and for once he was on time. He knew that a plan had to formulate soon or else things were going to go horribly wrong, more-so than they had already grown.

Thankful to see a familiar face, the copy-nin paced towards Shikamaru and eased himself down into a seat beside him, "Maa, it's a suprise to see you here, looking so busy." his cool, collected tone and facial expressions soon turned deadly serious, "But of course, this is no joking matter." He propped his arms onto the table, lacing his fingers together and gazing at the books intently, "It's early days, but have you thought of anything yet?"

Glancing up as the silver-haired jounin settled himself on the other side of the table, the lanky shadow-walker nodded slightly.

"Sometimes I surprise even myself, you know."

With a sigh, he tossed a scroll to Kakashi.

"That's a map of the City. We need to draw this out, try and get it away from the general populace. It's too late to stop it, so the best we can do is funnel it to a safer area. Forest, desert, it doesn't matter. Though if the choice were up to me, I'd say desert. Then Gaara'll have an advantage."

Jiraiya entered the apartment, incredibly serious. His perverted nature was checked at the door, and he was portraying the composure, seriousness, and authority of a Sannin. Sitting down, Jiraiya gazed across the mountains of text, then looked over at Shikamaru.

"Looking at all of this, I trust you've formulated a base plan, Shikamaru?"

Nodding his head again, the lanky shinobi tossed another map of the City to the sannin before spreading one out across the table. Pulling a black marker out of his pocket, he circled several areas on the map.

"Here, here, and.....here."

Sitting back slightly, he chewed absently on the cap of the pen for a moment before continuing.

"These places would strategically be the best locations. Especially this one."

Pointing to one location on the side of the map, he circled it again.

"This is at the edge of the forest, on the beach. The terrain is varied, we've got the cover of the trees on this side, the water on the other, and plenty of sand for Gaara to make use of."

Jiraiya paid close attention, mentally noting the spots on the map Shikamaru mentioned.

"This looks promising. However, the forest leaves little room for my toads to maneuver, especially Gamabunta, whom I'm sure will be a useful ally in this fight. I'm sure Tsunade will be compelled to use Katsuyu, as well. If we can't find open areas to fight, the landscape will most definitely become ravaged by our own attacks, reducing the amount of cover we can utilize."

"Hence the beach. Where we have both open ground and cover at our disposal."

Pulling out a stack of small cards, he set them facedown on the table before turning over the top one. It resembled the cards that Yakushii Kabuto had made, with a picture and statistics.

"There's one of these for each of us, and one for each of the Akatsuki. We should all study them, make sure we know not only our enemy's strengths and weaknesses, but our own strengths and weaknesses"

Jiraiya chuckled a bit at being told by someone multiple times younger than him to study up on both ally and enemy.

"I suppose you've got me there. I won't need the cards for the Akatsuki. I've researched their strengths and weaknesses more than enough."

With a slight smirk, he folded his arms across his chest.

"I'm sure you do. And there'll be a stretch of land between the edge of the forest and the sand. That way any toads or slugs you or Tsunade-sama summon won't be at a disadvantage."

Jiraiya nodded, looking at the map.

"Sounds perfect. So, what are the squad designations for this fight? For that matter, who all is fighting?"

The jounin caught the scroll with ease and opened it up, glancing at the map casually. Kakashi listened intently to Shikamaru and Jiraiya's words, knowing that the choice of the beach and forest was definately a good idea. It didn't bother him personally where they were going to fight, but of course he had to take into consideration both advantages and disadvantages of the situation.

"Are we going to be taking this into our own hands, or are we waiting for others to show?" the copy-nin leaned back in his seat, gazing over the map at the other two sternly.

Kiba walked in with Akamaru close behind, taking a seat. He looked rather eager to get this meeting over and done with, but he had come for a reason; to learn where he fell within the strategy, and try to put in his two cents on the matter and try to get the task he desired.

"Hey, Shikamaru. Looks like you've got a plan of attack, already. Where do I fall in?"

"Here."

Tossing yet another marked map to the shaggy-haired man, he turned back to the cards. Pulling his own from the stack, he laid it out.

"This has all the information I have on myself that's relevent to this battle. Even things I normally wouldn't share. Because as useful as hidden attacks can be, this isn't a time for them. We need total understanding of each other in order for this to work."

Kiba looked at the cards, scratching Akamaru's ear absent-mindedly.

"That's cool, but how recent is this data? Akamaru and I are able to add nature-manipulation to our attacks now."

One black eyebrow raised sardonically.

"What the hell do you think I've been doing these last few weeks? Check it yourself and see."

He tossed a card to Kiba.

"Knowing you, I wouldn't have been surprised to see you sleeping more than that guy whose snoring reached the far edges of the city a while back."

Kiba looked at the cards, surprised to find his and Akamaru's data up-to-date.

"Wow, what happened to the Shikamaru who spent more time watching clouds and playing Shogi than he spent doing ninja stuff? It looks like you worked really hard on this stuff."

The Yondaime entered quietly, though flashed a smile, "Sorry I'm late." He had been dealing with other possible angles. "But I have news, Orochimaru and minions have stated their intent to not be involved unless one of our sides strikes at them. So for now, perhaps we should be very careful not to bring them into things." Then paused.

"And a bit of potentially bad news," inclinging his head, he started, "This is part speculation and part observation, but Jiraiya, you and Tsunade-sama might try testing out your summoning abilities within the city, there appears to be a sort of barrier disallowing certain summons."

Then looked to Shikamaru, "Looks like you have things well underway."

((OOC: There's a ban on being able to summon large familliars, demons, etc, but I'm pestering a mod to see if that would apply))
